Fun fact, one of the other 3ds quality of life improvements they made was allowing the player to equip a human mask while transformed, doing so will automatically cause link to remove the transformation and put on the human mask. Interestingly, this also applies to the fierce deity mask, meaning in mm3d you actually don't get soft locked anywhere if you manage to wear the fierce diety mask in the overworld.
I mean, you can still easily remove with the glitch that allows you to wear it anywhere, so it's not too useful for that, but it is definitely more convenient.
Leo's Majora's Mask Restoration Mod, it's been around for a few years now. Also the randomizer doesn't have all of the features from the restoration mod unfortunately. I'm not sure if they fixed Twinmold in this version which sucks or got rid of the eyeball weak points.
I imagine it's because it's easier to swim in tighter spaces with the 3DS swimming controls compared to the N64's, with the only places big enough to really use the faster swimming being Great Bay and Pinnacle Rock. Plus, if you use Chateau Romani, you basically get the N64 controls back in 3DS.
@@jacklansdale77 I never understood people's complaints about the eyeballs. The only time they act as weak points is when using the Deku against Odolwa and fighting the Blue Twinmold. Besides that, you just hit the bosses' main body until they get stunned like in the N64, with the eyeball being a concentrated point to hit in their stunned state instead of just continuing to hit their body some more. The eyeballs are the change that affects the boss design the least and is probably the most appropriate use of the "eyeball weakpoint" in the Zelda series due to being a consistent feature and tying into the main villain and themes of the game.
@joshuareesor1756 I never had any issues with the swimming in great bay temple as a kid ever.....sounds like they are "fixing" a problem that didn't exist and then replacing it with a bigger problem: It makes the game, and the Zora mask WAY less awesome.

Bombers Notebook was in N64 MM, but the 3DS version enhanced it A LOT. Or at least I think it did, because I don't think I touched it in when 100% playthrough of N64 MM, but I relied on it heavily for my 3DS MM playthrough. Seemed like it made it much easier to do Anju and Kafei quest and keep track of heart piece checks.
@@mjmk6647 word, yeah I can't remember exactly, but I think it just kept track of events right? So having basically a 100% checklist added in 3DS was dope!
@@Sauspreme The Bomber's Notebook is awful in terms of how little faith it puts into the player's abilities, and there's no way to turn it off or avoid it.
There really should've been an option to turn off the Bomber's Notebook from appearing every two seconds though. It's more expanded than the original, but everytime something is put in there, it takes longer than it would in the N64 version, and it does it for everything, even when you fail to get something
@@Michael-hc2hp No yeah you guys are right on that. The notebook alert every time you interact with someone is unnecessary and breaks up the gameplay with no fast text. I just started a new game after watching this to relearn everything, before I install the rando mod, and it's excessive. But the actual notebook features are dope
I think it leads to a lot less desperate attempts to obtain an item that turns out to be a blupee, which is a bit less fun. Though, I can also understand the frustration of that sort of situation.
Always great to see the 3DS version get some modding love too. While it can be contentious, it's still Majora's Mask at its core and deserves to have its new visuals and designs appreciated (especially when alot of the discourse over the changes often gets overblown in their effect on the gameplay).
I broke my 3ds circle pad (quick spin attacks) playing MM3D. It had been years since I played the original, so the Giant's mask change was the only thing that really bugged me. Over all it was still a lot of fun.
@@AkameGaKillfan777 3DS Odolwa is a worse fight, mainly due to how slow his reaction and attack speed were made, but I still appreciate the Deku being given a purpose instead of being useless like in the N64. 3DS Twinmold I would say is improved because it has much more substance compared to the N64's focus on the spectacle, making Twinmold much more befitting for its place as the preultimate boss of the game. Whether someone likes the new mechanics introduced comes down to preference, and it does have some issues conveying information to the player, but I still think it's a more fulfilling fight to learn and replay compared to the simple and underwhelming fight of the N64. 3DS Bomber's Notebook is a trade-off that incentivizes the sidequests more by tracking every step and NPC, making them easier to follow and engage with for new players but more intrusive. It can be a bit annoying as an experienced player since I already know what to do, but nothing I would say is terrible. Isn't the Goron Moon segment the same as the original? The Zora is the one that changed, which made for a more interesting use of the Zora's swimming abilities instead of just guessing left or right through a narrow tube maze.
@@joshuareesor1756 Your argument for the Deku Mask makes no sense. Are you just ignoring the other several dozen puzzles and obstacles required to make use of it? The first Twinmold is mostly okay, but the second one sucks because of how awful Giant Link controls and how vague the game is at telling you how to beat it. They could've made a better fight by keeping Giant Link the same, but giving Twinmold more attacks, which they've shown to be capable of. The Bomber's Notebook for how intrusive it is makes me want to complete even less of the game because it's always forced on you with no option to disable it, how much it drags the pacing down, often for completely unnecessary things like losing a minigame. Thanks for the extra middle finger just because I accidentally missed one enemy in the shooting galleries, I definitely wouldn't have figured out wether or not I succeeded if I didn't have that 🙄 The Goron rolling having full 360⁰ movement on the surface should be a complete improvement, but it isn't. There are plenty of times where you'll just want to move in a straight line, but it doesn't happen because of not just the movement itself, but because the 3DS circle pad doesn't have directional indents to go in one rigid direction completely. It's bothered me on several other games, but for the moon trial where you need to go perfectly straight at all times, it becomes almost impossible to beat. I don't know why Nintendo stopped doing this on not just the 3DS, but the Wii U and Switch also.
As one of the lead devs on MM3DR i'm glad you only encountered one bugged item check (even if it was an important one). I hope you'll check out the randomizer again when we add new features!
It _does not work_ with Majora's Mask. It's great in OoT, but MM was extremely well designed to work with the graphics, and the brighter setup is just aggravating with the story here.
@@beornwagner1 Majora's Mask's atmosphere always hinged on being surreal and strange, with there being plenty of colourful parts, so I don't see how it being brighter "aggravates" the story. Twilight Princess was the game that used darker graphics to add to it's atmosphere and story.
As an MM and MM3D enjoyer I still personally prefer the original to the 3DS version aesthetically, and I grew up with both. The N64 style imo just suits the vibe of the game better. As for mechanics I think they're both mixed bags. Some nice QoL improvements are definitely there in 3D like the reworked Song of Double Time, but the 3 Day Cycle is also shorter in 3D which I'm not a fan of. Not to mention the boss changes in 3D are pretty unanimously considered bad for good reason. And the Zora Swim physics are a massive downgrade. And Deku Link water skipping physics are a big downgrade. There isn't really a "perfect" version of MM, unfortunately, even if we're considering Rom hacks and stuff, though there are some that come pretty close in the N64 version, but I haven't personally found any for 3D that are able to address the majority of the issues people have with it, unfortunately .
@@765craven4 Are the 3DS bosses' opinions really unanimous? The only one I find to be worse is Odolwa, and he still has the upgrade of the Deku mask actually being viable for his boss fight. Besides him, Goht is basically the same, Gyorg has more going on than just the repetitive back and forth in the N64 version, and Twinmold now has a properly complex moveset and challenge for the pre-ultimate boss compared to the overly simple and style-over-substance of the N64 (albeit with some conveyance issues on how to tackle the new fight). And Majora is generally the same too, with some damage upgrades and move tells being the extent of changes. I can understand that the N64 versions are easier to follow, seeing as they boil down to "hit them until they die" in their design. Still, it always seemed disappointing to me that the N64 bosses became simpler as the game progressed, with it taking until Majora's Warth to have a boss with as much variance as Odolwa. The 3DS version makes the curve of difficulty and complexity much smoother, with there being more going on in the boss design overall. Whether someone likes them as much as the N64 comes down to personal preference, but I don't see what would make them a unanimous downgrade compared to the original. And before anyone says anything, the eyes only change Odolwa if you fight him as Deku Link and Blue Twinmold. Besides that, their acting as weak points offers no meaningful difference compared to the full-body weak points of the original, with the only significant critique being subjective aesthetic taste. Heck, they actually add to the bosses' overall connection to Majora and the game's themes, so they still have value beyond the gameplay.

I’m soooo glad that this rando has the project restoration mod as a part of it! I played project restoration last year (or maybe the year before) on my 3DS and it truly is THE way to play MM!!
I am happy my first experience of mm was on the 3d version as I think it greatly helped me put MM in the S tier of zelda games. I ended up playing both of these only in recent years so I don’t have nostalgia to take over for the two 3Ds (For anyone wondering what the others are for me they are TP and Wind Waker because those are objectively really good. Sorry to Skyward and OoT you both end up in A tier for various reasons)
OOt and MM were my first Zelda games, but I played them through wii vc. Wind waker is probably my most replayed zelda, but I haven't been able to get through a second run of TP
I love how, just a couple of days ago, I was wondering if there was a MM3D rom that fixed the deku spin and the zora swim, and not only is there, but it's part of the randomizer as well!
47:57 I'm going to have to hard disagree with you on this one. The Twinmold fight in this version is infuriating to deal with, and the worst part of it is that it didn't have to be. All they had to do was make it so that the work you did to the Red Twinmold to stun it didn't get undone whenever it went back underground, instead of forcing you to do it in one go every time.
It’s not that bad. I finished the second phase in two minutes without knowing how the stunning system worked. I just wailed on the red twin and chucked a ball at it whenever I could, and it was pretty easy.
I watched the recorded livestream instead of the video (just because I wanted so the the uncut version for a change :D) and I learned the following things about Linkus: - Linkus is Swedish (I couldn't tell, you really have no distinguishable accent that would tell me you're not a native speaker) - Linkus is either incredible lucky with randomizer item "drops" or absolute unlucky - there is no inbetween (bombs for the bombs xD) - Linkus is a speedrunner in real life too as he often does a handwash skip after going to the toilet xD (which apparently a few men do) - Linkus' chat does not know the difference between kinder Joy and kinder Ü-Ei! :D To explain the last point : Linkus was talking about a German candy called kinder Ü-Ei (Ü here is short for Überraschung, so its called Überraschungsei [surprise egg] in Germany), which is a closed hollow choclate egg shell with a toy inside the egg, and the toy is inside a yellow plastic capsule, the whole candy is packed in aluminum foil, and the chat correcter him claiming it's called kinder Joy, but kinder Joy is actually another candy from the Ferrero brand! It's a plastic egg shell with one side of the plastic shell being filled with choclate and milk cream inside and two crunchy waffle balls in the middle, while the other plastic egg shell contains no candy but the toy - not inside a yellow capsule!) Ok that's tragic, I'm so sorry mate
Linkus your vods channel needs some love my man. These rando's would be perfect for it 😃 thanks for the content.
32:21 Probably the most Omega Brain observation about WW's Gannon. Never even thought about it like that.
Looks like they not only fixed deku hopping and zora swimming, but also the ice arrows. The big question is: did they give Goron link back his booty bump attack?
As soon as he found the fierce deity’s mask all boss fights became paltry! 😂😂😂
I’m so ready to play this I’ve been looking for a MM 3D randomizer for a *while* now
Linkus’ old MMR thumbnail is now relevant.
12:33 Bro forgot that you need to pay the Great Fairies in TOTK to upgrade your gear + the required items
Can we have the rest of the Link Between Worlds playthrough, please, Linkus? It's one of my favourite handheld Zelda games and I'd love to see you finish it.
that what im sayin
I mentioned it in the pinned comment but the video is 95% done and dropping in the next few days!
31:20 your favorate is the pirate ship, it’s a good dungeon, but many more of them are way cooler, like the one after that one
13:51
How to be clever, but not too clever...
He could just use the Song of Soaring...
But on that note, someone else who I follow the MM randomizers' goes to that cave before getting the Lens of Truth very often too...
18:13 The way you stoped and chat went crazzy while you were trying to explain wich was the most powerful item in the saga 😔
The crotch cam at 18:12 really made me laugh
DougDoug was there? Wow, that's wild!
When he gets a mediocre item his voice always has the same melody as: " Road Work ahead? (Yeah sure hope it does)"
I’m soooo glad that this rando has the project restoration mod as a part of it! I played project restoration last year (or maybe the year before) on my 3DS and it truly is THE way to play MM!!
Love the randomizers and all content linkus please keep it up on RUclips !
3:52 "I want a tatto of this * moon so bad" yeah imagine laying in bed with someone and then you get jumpscared by the zelda moon amazing
12:30 to 12:38
Capitalist Zelda. Interesting idea.
43:12 "I have light arrows early"
*Checks timer*
17:40 “fierce dedede mask” 😂
49:35 they should use this as an evil laugh for a mini boss.
8:22 All Bosses: **
I am happy my first experience of mm was on the 3d version as I think it greatly helped me put MM in the S tier of zelda games. I ended up playing both of these only in recent years so I don’t have nostalgia to take over for the two 3Ds
(For anyone wondering what the others are for me they are TP and Wind Waker because those are objectively really good. Sorry to Skyward and OoT you both end up in A tier for various reasons)
OOt and MM were my first Zelda games, but I played them through wii vc. Wind waker is probably my most replayed zelda, but I haven't been able to get through a second run of TP
Finally! Been waiting for this.
I love how, just a couple of days ago, I was wondering if there was a MM3D rom that fixed the deku spin and the zora swim, and not only is there, but it's part of the randomizer as well!
Grandma: “thank you for stopping the robber, here, have this weapon that I could have used myself”
Glad you were Transparent- Regardless GOOD on the mod maker
47:57 I'm going to have to hard disagree with you on this one. The Twinmold fight in this version is infuriating to deal with, and the worst part of it is that it didn't have to be. All they had to do was make it so that the work you did to the Red Twinmold to stun it didn't get undone whenever it went back underground, instead of forcing you to do it in one go every time.
It’s not that bad. I finished the second phase in two minutes without knowing how the stunning system worked. I just wailed on the red twin and chucked a ball at it whenever I could, and it was pretty easy.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THISSSS ( not that I dont have the original game but I wanted the extra stuff in this)
15:43 I think linkus will regret this. I haven’t watched further but I’m like 90% sure this will bite him later
I always like the randomizer videos you make. Keep up with the great work.
I watched the recorded livestream instead of the video (just because I wanted so the the uncut version for a change :D) and I learned the following things about Linkus:
- Linkus is Swedish (I couldn't tell, you really have no distinguishable accent that would tell me you're not a native speaker)
- Linkus is either incredible lucky with randomizer item "drops" or absolute unlucky - there is no inbetween (bombs for the bombs xD)
- Linkus is a speedrunner in real life too as he often does a handwash skip after going to the toilet xD (which apparently a few men do)
- Linkus' chat does not know the difference between kinder Joy and kinder Ü-Ei! :D
To explain the last point : Linkus was talking about a German candy called kinder Ü-Ei (Ü here is short for Überraschung, so its called Überraschungsei [surprise egg] in Germany), which is a closed hollow choclate egg shell with a toy inside the egg, and the toy is inside a yellow plastic capsule, the whole candy is packed in aluminum foil, and the chat correcter him claiming it's called kinder Joy, but kinder Joy is actually another candy from the Ferrero brand! It's a plastic egg shell with one side of the plastic shell being filled with choclate and milk cream inside and two crunchy waffle balls in the middle, while the other plastic egg shell contains no candy but the toy - not inside a yellow capsule!)
Here some links with pictures if my explanation is not clear enough for you guys :D

RUclips viewers will never know about the millions of channel points lost to believers on gamba
Everybody please like the video. This man is giving us good content for free.
It's gonna be a good sleep when link boi uploads
Linkus7: I look a lot like Tingle, ngl.
Me: You look a lot like RubbeRoss, ngl.
Fun fact, the reason the redeads in Ikana dance when you wear gibdo or stone mask is because they were once a part of the Ikana Kingdom's royal dance toupe.
Fierce Deity be like: “I’ll show you a light arrow, Big Boy! ;)”
Lol "its almost like this enemy is in every zelda game!"
"When did this happen!?!?"
I really hope that eventually there’ll be a combined randomizer of OoT and MM with the 3D versions, I’d play that till kingdom come
there is
What tracker do you use for the randomize?
Now I gotta see Zora and Goron forms being shaken by the Happy Mask Salesman. Please, make a short of this.
I wish they'd add a mod so link can make sad/sour face expressions when he gets bad items. Like in windwaker and skyward sword his expression occasionally varied with the context.
No link to the randomiser page, classic youtuber power move.
Well tbh I wouldn't risk it either
We need a Petition for Linkus to Play "Freshly-Picked Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland"! DO IT!
Lmfaooooo "I wish I had a tattoo of that on my skin 24/7 too" as I look down at my majoras mask sleeve... roasted by a youtube video😂
I love randomizers
a lot of people say they think the n64 moon is scarier, but i honestly agree with linkus, the 3ds one is really terrifying
the n64 one is uncanny as hell, but the 3ds one is something id genuinely see in my nightmares...
Love your randomizes keep up the good work
Fun Fact! The bombers notebook will always give you the code to the bombers hideout, even if you skip the quest. (Same with the base game)
>Implying you can actually skip the Notebook in the remake
@@AkameGaKillfan777 it still gives the notebook but if you check the notebook, it uses a default code (something like 54132) and if you start a new save and do something to skip getting a code from the bombers, it will be the same code every time.
It was only a couple months ago that I was sad to see that MM3DR had yet to see a release. Thankfully I saw this video in my feed!
Hey, Linkus. I just had a horrible idea. A randomizer, but certain glitches are patched out, and put as loot in chests. Wouldn't that be wild? Imagine the Streamer Suffering everyone would enjoy? "Oh damnit, I can't bomb hover yet, I gotta find the glitch first!" Or "Okay, I got the Wierdshot. Sure would be nice if I had a hookshot to do it with!"
The devs basically watched that Nerrel video and just said “Well, let’s just make that as a mod.”
Kind of like how just about everyone who lists the Deku form and Zora swimming issues first before anything else most likely watched his video.
Man this new legend of linkus game is crazy
I started the randomizer and i a good amount of early game item checks got me vanilla items with some random items like the Garo’s mask on the clock tower ledge
And I used your channel name as the seed
That had to be deliberate! You paid Tingle 20 rupees for 100, but then paid the blacksmith 100 for 20!!
the jump to get boss key early is still pretty easy to get in lake bed temple, all you have to do is change to Zora and swim up and you'll grab it lol
I’m pretty sure the intended pronunciation is “Deh-ku” not “Dee-ku” as Japanese doesn’t natively have the “Dee” sound, but does have “deh” as derived from “teh” that is で from て.
8:20 my current ootmm randomizer placed FD mask in the deku tree.
Love your vids! Keep the good work up

Hi Baerplay! Hi LunyRune! Hi twitch chat! Hi! Hello!
W commenter, imma start doin that too
Hey linkups how am I able to play the randomizers because I can’t find a link
I hope to see you running this rando more often.
i find it so funny that chat said there was no day 1 reward at the great bay spider house but in reality there was one and it was the zora mask
I've been waiting for this randomizer for years. Let's fucking go!
randos are awesome dude keep it up ❤🎉
