Setting up turrets on a stack of blocks to give them line of sight helps prevent them from shooting up your own stuff while targeting orcs. They can and will damage your own storages/drills/ etc while trying to kill orcs.
@@surtrplays I am currently setting up a dedicated bank floor, double walled, and sealing it behind me with no entrances. The thought of an orc getting in there and wrecking full vaults with 500k on them makes me a bit twitchy...
@@surtrplays I went the opposite route for my current playthrough. I set up a base camp for basic resources, then as soon as I got the Iron Pickaxe, I tunneled a ladder hole straight down to just above lava. Dug out a big spot there for main production, which was a ton of work. So far, I think it is the best strat I have done , even with its challenges.
37:24 well time to redo the vault😊 and do it to where it has a grand entrance that would make a dragon proud😂 because you're going to have to hold gems as well here as soon as you start getting into them on their own pads in your vault😊
@ I bought the game because of your play through. I watched this today and then went to play with the larger explosives. What a mess. Glad I saved it 😆
looking very good! i have so much coal . . . but i can’t seem to find convenient silver and gold 😿 when i do . . . i will finally be able to automate them!
And for me I set up an area where I have all the coal come and all the water and all the steam that's needed for the machines up on the surface and I just run the steam pipes to where the machines are needed to get the product. It makes it a lot easier to manage for me
The idea of the constructor is the replace the manual (and extra paid gold per cycle) blacksmiths. Obviously, it's not as efficient as other automated items of its kin, but is head and shoulders faster than the manual blacksmithing (which is to crafting with the Automator like the manual miner to the steam powered driller, and should be retired and left as backup as so except in isolated moments.) 9:30 Why you upgrade your ore detector and 3d compass to its maximum level now. Yeah, that search for coal on sub-level 2 looked like a very tedious exercise. Between that and the minecart situation, the devs have some work to do. Then after that you seem to be at a point in the playthrough where you're somewhat blocked by game balance issues.
Yeah, it was a bit of a grind. I'm still enjoying the experience. It is early access and I know how these things go. The Dev has already reached out. It will improve.
Sorry to say but the game becomes unplayable when you have too many assets, with constant crashes every 10 minutes or so. I’ll wait for a patch to fix it
If you learn to *bury* the pipes in the ground level (do not build attics or basements. Also, not a simple to explain process, but opening a hole next to machines at each connection and connecting the pipes to a machine, clicking in the hole, and doing the same at the second or multiple machines, then after all is c0nnectedd replacing the foundations or ground) it cuts down a lot on said lag. Also, try not to concentrate all assets in *one* location which is the problem of most players. You also can lock your FPS to 60 and that may help but no promises. Hope the update helped you.
The jump (with faith) for the stairs
then "head bump into iron node"
it was a mix of hilarity and "OH NO!"
Always look up.
A fun lesson in Dwarven physics, Laddie!

I believe that problem has been fixed in the latest update.
Everything ticking along! very inventive once again.
Many thanks.
LOL Surtr is set to find Coal, not a COAL Deposit.. which is why it only keeps pointing to the small strings of coal.
Thanks, I hadn't noticed that.
22:31 portable drills on coal always fill up their own fuel slot first before filling the output. You can start them up with just a single coal.
Thanks.
I'm picturing a dedicated bank in your future or even a dedicated bank floor.
That is a total possibility.

Another great video
I appreciate it.
I can only imagine how many hours you put into this. Great Vid Surtr
It takes a lot of time but it is fun. Thanks for watching.

Oh really. That is interesting.
Hi! When you find the camps there is usually a couple of chests full of goodies. Dig up the skulls too.
Thanks for the tip. I didn't see any skulls but I will have another look.
@@surtrplays Large Orc Skulls will spawn at camps sometimes as well as the regular ones.
Thanks.

And there are even bigger ones. I dread the thought.
I never even thought about blowing up the lava to see what's down there. I assumed it was just the bottom of the map.
I don't know if you can go lower.
@@surtrplays Interesting. I have never tried to go below the lava. Frankly the lava makes me nervous, haha!
Same. I already died twice.

9:49. Lol mountain vapourisor
It will happen.
As far as I've found in my own game the ores only respawn once. If you mine them out again they stay gone.
Ahh okay. I will check that out.

I haven't had that problem yet, but but there was an update today. It will be interesting to hear if that resolved your issues.
