    Thank you for this wonderful tutorial, I appreciate that you've also provided a written pattern. I've been watching many tutorials on market bags and I nmust say that your tutorial is one of the best, it's the clearest and easiest to follow, no distracting loud background music and just pointing. Thank you ,thank you, thank you. I'll be making this market bag for sure! God Bless.

    You are a wonderful teacher Heather. Your tutorial is concise & easy to follow. I messed up on the first one I made & it was totally my fault because I didn't pay attention to your instructions of working continuously & not joining at the end of the rows. Everything was fine till I got to the handles & realized the count was off so I had to adjust a bit. I'm watching your video for a second time & I now realize what I did wrong. I don't usually comment but I had to thank you for sharing.

    This is a beautiful bag and wonderful pattern. I followed the written pattern but popped over here to the video to make sure I was doing things right. The only thing is I followed the pattern exactly, using a 486 yard weight 4 Red Heart skein, but ran out of yarn several rows short. I didn’t do a gauge, but tension looks the same as yours. I am shocked that there can be that big of a difference in yarn usage!

    • @HeathersCraftCorner
      @HeathersCraftCorner  2 года назад

      I feel for you. I even add extra yardage as a buffer on all of my patterns. Even with the gauge only being a little off (like a stitch or two per 4") can make a huge difference in yardage used. Also I've noticed most Red Heart yarn is thicker than the one used which would use more yardage. I hope you can snag another skein and enjoy your bag, though! Happy crocheting!

    I am a beginner and finally found a video I could use to make this. However, there are certain things that can be done better in the video.
    Firstly clearly showing where you are putting the needle. At start you are going through just one section of the chain but after that you are going through the whole chain. It is even harder to tell because you are using a dark color.
    I would recommend zooming in when you are starting a new row to show how you are doing it. I tried till round 3 multiple times with multiple colors and none of them even looked close to what you had. I gave up after that.
    I had to slow the video to .5 and stare at the screen to see what you were doing even then it didn't work.
    I am not trying to be mean. I know I can find other videos and you did a great job here. Those are just some suggestions and my experience with this tutorial.

    • @HeathersCraftCorner
      @HeathersCraftCorner  3 года назад +3

      No worries. Constructive criticism is welcome. :)
      This video is of an intermediate pattern, so there were some assumptions made about having some experience with working in the round. I'll have to come up with some tutorials that walk through this step by step in the future.
      I am still pretty new at this, so a lighter yarn would have been a better choice. Live and learn, right?
      Also, the suggestion of zooming up at specific parts is a good idea.
      Thanks for the feedback. Happy crocheting!

      @@HeathersCraftCorner Thank you for the reply 😊. I didn't know it was for intermediate patterns.

  • @maryd5231
    @maryd5231 2 года назад

    I finished one bag and loved it, but after switching to the smaller hook I found the stitches more difficult to do, they kept slipping off and it was kind of a pain. So I started another bag and figured I would just use the bigger hook for the whole bag. Well, the stitches are much easier and I’m having a lot more fun…but I’m three rows into the textured part and my bag seems to be fanning out a bit…like it’s too big. Do you think it will be okay or should I just frog it back to the hook size stitch and redo it with the smaller hook?

    • @HeathersCraftCorner
      @HeathersCraftCorner  2 года назад

      That would depend on what you want in the end. With the bigger hook, it will not have straight sides. It would balloon a bit. If you're ok with that, then keep going. If you want the sides to have a straighter line, then frog it. Sorry my answer is not so black and white. Crochet is an art. Follow your muse! ;)

  • @Kaylaheard18

    In the beginning when you are single crocheting, are you going through the back loop, front loop, or full chain?

    • @HeathersCraftCorner
      @HeathersCraftCorner  3 года назад +1

      I go through the back bump (not loop) down the first side, then through the other 2 loops going back down the second side. You really can do it any way you want, though. It will come out the same no matter how you work the base chain.

      It depends on your gauge, but for the bag shown the gauge was 4” = 17 sts / 20 rows (Base) and 4” = 15 sts / 8 rows (Textured). The finished measurements were 14.5” (H) x 14” (W) when lying flat, not including the handles. More information and the written pattern are available on the pattern website:

    Hey there! So I am confused about what you mean by "work in a continuous round 8 till round 16. I followed the same steps you said for rounds 1-7 for rounds 8-16 and it is not looking like yours. PLEASE HELP! :(

    • @HeathersCraftCorner
      @HeathersCraftCorner  3 года назад

      For rounds 8-16, you're not repeating rnds 1-7, you will just be working a sc into each stitch. Working in a continuous round just means that you won't join at the end of the round, but just keep working sc into each st. Hopefully that helps!
