This game was like an arcade game except it wasn't. The 16bit console's still could barely transition arcade games almost the same way the NES and other classic port's struggled with those earlier classics, but this game had that exact feel, look, and sound of those epic arcade cabinet game's I loved having quarters or nickels to play with. It was such a thrill growing up in the early 80' and 90's because of games like this
I have been very into this game for a couple weeks now, and I have been practising it with 0 extralives - I have managed to beat the "Go After Dead-Eye Joe / Fight To The End" part with Ray, as well as "Go After Dead-Eye Joe / Surrender And Fight Later" with Sheena, and now I am practising "Rescue The Research Center / Fight To The End" with Fang. I never get tired of this game.
Me too. I just did the fight/surrender sheena path for the first time ever, so now I feel the drive to do all of them. This game rules. Just got the Nintendo switch online expansion and it’s really helpful with practicing. Can’t wait to get back to running it from start to finish this week though
The name of the final boss is "Li I" and it's one of the artworks from the father of the biomechanics - H.R. Giger (LI I”, H. R. GIGER, 1974) - the painting is Giger's girlfriend - she committed suicide - Li Tobler. Also pretty much the whole game is a tribute to his surrealistic bio-mechanical art, one more example is from StarCraft - the Zergs and the iconic Sarah Kerrigan she is pretty much the same thing as the final boss.
This shit was insane... Well.. Still "IS" insane. Konami today still does make good stuff imho, but nothing like they use to. Maybe Konami today should dig through their archive and take some notes and inspiration of what made these games so great so long ago in the past and create something just as mindfucking crazy. I look at some of these bosses and creatures and think "What in the FUCK is that thing?!". I don't quite get that anymore, unfortunately...
I agree. I am very disappointed with Konami's poor decisions they have made recently but I still love them very much for the masterpieces they made, like this one.
Ask myself the same question when I'm used to play this game it is truly a masterpiece music the detail the monsters it is one hell of a ride from start to finish there's literally nothing like this on a game console today except for maybe cuphead if you haven't seen that look it up I think it's on Xbox One and Xbox 360 cuphead
@@blountman747 What makes Contra awesome is that it's one of the few games that has you fight basically everything from robots, humans, animals, mutants and aliens. That gives them plenty of creative freedom on enemy designs!
@firerat1653 It was a parasite museum to be exact. They used that visit to get the inspiration for the Red Falcon stage (where the alien cell breaks loose and infects almost all of Bahamut's Headquarters).
Look at the first women-boss closely. Her eyes animation and face expressions when she is not ugly are quite fanstastic as for the game like that. It makes some sense like she has a real personality, not just another boss lol. I'm interested to know more about her story.
You missed the final boss of the top of the junkyard lair,where you encounter a mystery man who get you to some arena where you fight 3 bosses and get trapped in a portal.
@@LeeM-ip1jy It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure what I meant by this was that the best ending final boss, while it had the spectacle, had the easiest patterns out of any of the final bosses. If you want a more serious challenge, you gotta turn to the dark side.
Imagine a movie made off of these classic games.. Original contra, this version and especially Contra III. Horrid, and scary if done right. I think, for "realistics sake", the heroes should be fighters in earths defenses but eventually be gifted/given badass alien powers and/or weaponry somehow. My thought is that a scout/preemptive force of another "good" alien race that's been fightin and seeking the other alien scourges for many many(1000's maybe 10000's++++) years arrive on earth a few weeks after the "bad aliens” have already wreaked havoc and are attempting total destruction. Then they inform "us" that there full fighting force is many months (6 months... a year..maybe 2??) away from reaching earth. the few that are here on earth help us fight and equip us with incredible weaponry.. we are losing...but then of course, in a triumphant moment and buildup, the good alien forces arrive and together we attempt to destroy the scourge of planets. then of course the plot twist..some defectors are revealed and then the final arrival of the main monster alien and her battalion... who rips ups cities withing minutes and moves aggressively and quickly to others. impervious.... who's going to save us?! lol...maybe two chosen brothers with the full power of our own strength and the good aliens strength within them? with a host of humans and badass good aliens that have come to our aid to destroy the alien scourge that has been destroyers and defilers of planets across the universe. haha... always thought this would be a cool idea for an awesome sci-fi/action movie.

Hace mil años que lo jugue, pero basicamente las 4 opciones normales para los caminos del juego son cuando te dan a elegir entre los caminos A o B (despues de pasar el 1er nivel) y despues de la mitad del juego tenes para elegir nuevamente 2 caminos. El juego cambia dependiendo del camino, las posibles opciones serian: A-A / A-B / B-A / B-B sin contar el jefe secreto que esta antes del combate contra el enemigo que utiliza los signos del zodiaco para atacar, antes de entrar en la puerta, trepas por la pared de camino hacia arriba y encontras un personaje que te habla y te teletransporta a otra dimension con un final secreto
Brad Evans ese jefe de los signos del zodiaco, es obligatorio. Ja ja ja, yo también descubrí ese personaje secreto, es como un cirquero, te lleva a un torneo para combatir, y al final viajas en el tiempo.
