I somewhat regret my iPhone 7 purchase this past October. Battery life is merely ok and iOS 10 has more bugs than my old 6 ever had. AND I paid $750 for it. I think I would've been better off the saving $300 and getting this to use over the next two years.
Hi Dango. I used iPhone for 8 years but made this switch to the extremely similar OnePlus 3T. I decided I wanted more than 32GBs of storage and a bigger screen than 4.7. I nearly bought an Asus Zenfone 3 until I discovered this phone... which seemed designed to switch an iPhone user like myself. My phone was only $399 but the savings similar enough. Here's what I learned (and would share with anyone considering the switch) -- 1. Smartphones are computers. All computers need RAM. PCs and Macs need 4GBs minimum. Both work better with 6 but 8 gives you that warmy fuzzy feeling. I'm not sure this phone needs 6GBs of RAM but I know every iPhone needs more than 1 to 2 GBs. Considering how cheap RAM is and how much iPhones cost 4GBs should be standard. Now I know apologists will you tell that the cool thing about Apple is it doesn't need all that RAM because Apple is so clever and different and magical. Horsepoo. My two year old iPhone 6 ran like glue. Not because it was two year old spec but because it had 1GB of RAM. Had I known that when I bought it I wouldn't have. Ignorance is bliss. Also -- 2. -- every computer needs enough to storage to have ample elbow room. So that you don't have to remove apps to add news ones (inconvenience). So that you don't have to worry about taking one more video at that concert (inconvenience). So that, instead, you can install any frickin' apps you feel like and have gobs of space remaining. Or download days of music for a road trip with iffy cell service. This FREEDOM came of this phone and I don't care that you can't expand memory further. I'll never fill it. I'm at one quarter now. 3. After years of iOS switching to Android was bumpy. Android offers a thousand new options. (Yay!) But to be fair Apple got a lot of choices right the first time. And so I spent over three weeks trying to 'enjoy' the Oxygen OS but ultimately I rejected this 'launcher'. If you don't know: the launcher is the 'look and feel' of the Android OS... and you can switch to other launchers. The launcher that solved all my problems was Nova Launcher. A tutorial right here on RUclips showed me how to make my Android phone more iPhone-like. I don't need identical but just some things to be more Apple-ish. A funny thing was the icons for some apps -- like the phone, email, and chat that have lived in my iPhone dock for 8 years. The Android icons needed an extra second for me to find -- and it never became second nature. The minute I switched them to more Apple appearance the experience just worked. Therefore -- 4. -- it takes work switching to Android. You discover that FIND MY PHONE doesn't quite exist the same way in Google. You kinda need two apps to do what Apple did with one. The 'weather' app isn't quite there either and I had to install the copycat-ish Yahoo Weather instead. So the transition takes time. The beautiful part is -- 5. -- there are countless things you can now do on Android Apple didn't want you to do. Like changing the look and feel as described above. Or not having one stinking button do a thousand things. (Do you tap, lean, double tap, tripple tap, nipple tap -- who the duck knows?!?) 6. The Amoled screen on this phone makes you wonder why Apple doesn't use Amoled. There's no good answer outside of greed. 7. This phone does not come with earbuds. And the douchebags at OnePlus seem disinterested in stocking them with any regularity. Did I mention that OnePlus runs a little douchey as a company? Not terribly so. Just a little.
ben owen lol, no android phone is comparable to iphone. go through all the speed tests. the Iphone 7 is the only smartphone which the OP3T has not managed to beat even thoigh it houses double the RAM. Dont take me wrong i am not a iOS fanboy or something, but android os just can't match the optimization and management of iOS, not so far.
You are confusing between Android stock and Android skins UI. If you compare (in terms of smoothness and user experience) with touchwiz against iOS of course iOS will win. Actually touchwiz is the worst UI of android, with EMUI and LG UI. But if you compare android stock UI , Oxigen OS UI or HTC Sense UI, I'm sure that it can compete agasint iOS because those skins are very nice optimized...
I just switched last weekend from iPhone (always have used it) to a Galaxy S7 Edge. Originally I thought I wanted to get the 3T. I still kinda wish I had because I wanted the more stock android experience, but overall the switch to android is going pretty well.
I will be doing the same when the Galaxy Note 8 comes out. Ever since I started using the Galaxy Tab A with s pen, I don't think I can live without one anymore.
I love your reviews! You make great shots and a lot of close up so we can have a good idea of the product without even owning it. I also totally agree that a resolution too high is a compromise on the battery! :) Ps : That DASH T-shirt is AWESOME haha :)
Thank you Lisa! You are always super thorough with your reviews. Thanks for the price comparison - really important to know. No SD card? That's OK because of the size of the storage - MASSIVE! Love the Dash charging. This is definitely my next phone. As always, your reviews are among the best on the net. Thank you!!!!!
you're exactly right when you say they are picking up where the nexus/google left off at this price point. i have a nexus and i'm thinking about getting a oneplus because i don't wanna pay $700 for a pixel.
Yeah, i wanted to get a new nexus, but eventually gave up on waiting and got OnePlus 3. After seeing how much has google screwed up with pixels, i dont regret at all and i love my OnePlus 3 even more.
700 dollars, try 850 for the pixel XL with 128GB storage. Because the pixel also left out of expandable storage so going from 32GB to 128GB on the pixel is not really even a choice. 64 GB on the oneplus3T is passable without expandable storage but for 40 dollars to double that it seems like a no brainier. Sure I may never use all the storage on the 128GB model but I would rather play it safe then sorry for the price difference. The pixel may have one or two features better then the oneplus, like the quad HD display, but are those few improvements worth the 300+ dollar price jump...
Very nice budget phone. Having had an unlucky experience with a Oneplus I bought as a backup device, and no customer support to solve my dead screen I won't be going to them again. But if you don't have the cash this is a good buy and maybe their customer service has improved a lot.
Hi Lisa, I love your videos and watch them almost religiously even though I usually am not in the market for a product but because your presentation and thoroughness is excellent I keep coming back for more. That said, I will be in the market for an Android phone early next year and I do have a smack down request: Pixel vs 3T, and could you dig a little deeper into the differences between the OS's (ease of use, latency, bloating, etc.)? This will be my first Android phone and from what I understand, only the stock Android OS (Pixel and Nexus) create little to no bloating. I have "heard" that the 1+ Oxygen OS is very clean and light, can you confirm or deny that in the smack down please? Keep up the good work!
Why you all tech reviewers forget about headphone sound quality? In this video you compared the pixel and LGV20 to OnePlus 3T talking about shape and screen differences only.
There are one or two youtube tech reviews talking about the headphone quality and they said its much better then your average flagship phone, about the only phones that beat the oneplus3T are the ones that went for the best sound quality like the HTC 10 and Axon 7. It all depends on what you phone to do. I believe the oneplus3T is just the most well rounded phone for the money.
Marcin O Well the sound quality from the OnePlus 3T almost matches that of the HTC 10. The DAC is above average and can drive high power headphones. Pocketnow did an audio review a couple of weeks ago comparing it to the V20.
When I was ordering my 3T 128GB, I was afraid the 1080p AMOLED pentile will not be enough (I'm coming from iPhone 6s+) . I was wrong! It's a perfect display I must say.
I wrote "iPhone6s+" ! That has 1080p IPS with 3 subpixels for each pixel unlike 2 subpixels on the Pentile AMOLED used by OnePlus. That's why I was afraid.
Had the One Plus 3 for a few months now and I'm pretty happy with it. The only gripe I have is that I can't attach an ethernet cable using a OTG adapter . Even though stock Marshmallow let's you do this, for some reason One Plus have disabled the function on the phone.
well.. this phone DOES have OIS just like its predecessor.. but they added EIS in order to improve the video stability since it wasn't impressive on the OP 3
Lisa I watch lot of your reviews and respect your opinion. But I have to disagree on your screen resolution statement. There is a day and night jump from 1080p to QHD resolution even on 5.5 inch screen. I have Pixel XL and before I had Lumia 950 XL. Both with QHD display, the font clarity and screen real-estate you get on screen is just amazing. It is now impossible to even hold or look at 1080p phone for me. Everything looks big on that.
May I ask you to review another Chinese phone, XGODY X200 Pro. Please? I couldn't manage to find any reviews for that phone. If you can't, its find - just a quick question.
Here in Australia the cheapest you can pick this phone up for is $639 including GST... I bought a brand new iPhone 5 for $339 to replace my 4 year old 5s, got the Siri upgrade for nothing with OIS upgrade, and its a kick arse phone... The 5's always were...
Youri Narcisse I've heard the same. However, axon 7 had the same issues but was fixed with an update. Check the forums for how the OnePlus 3 is doing. Last time I checked it was doing better now than it did a few months ago.
@OnePlus could have gained A LOT of market share if they just would have made this with a removable battery. I'm going to end up buying a V20 even though I like the OnePlus more. So many people asking for this feature, but only 1 flagship actually has it.

Really like all your reviews! keep on going :)
I love your reviews!! Please keep up the good work!
One of the best reviewers of all time. I want this phone
Oh, I had watched a Lenovo Yoga tablet from you 1 year ago and it happened to see you again. Wow!
Thanks for the review. Can you do a review of the ZTE Axon 7? It would be nice to see a comparison between the Axon 7 and 3T.
I'd love to and ZTE promised us a review loaner, but never got it to us.
Rupterr
3T wins in most aspects but not all
i love my axon 7
Again ! Another great review thank you 👌
I just switched last weekend from iPhone (always have used it) to a Galaxy S7 Edge.
Can you do the hp elite x3 along with its laptop? That would be awesome!
I love your reviews! You make great shots and a lot of close up so we can have a good idea of the product without even owning it. I also totally agree that a resolution too high is a compromise on the battery! :)
Ps : That DASH T-shirt is AWESOME haha :)
Great video! Would love to see a full smackdown between the Pixel XL and OnePlus 3t.
Another awesome, thorough, to the point and informative review from you. Thanks :)
Somewhat off topic here, what is the chance MobileTechReview reviewing Ultrawide monitors? Hope you could do it soon!
Where can I get this phone? I like the gold :)
Lisa Mallins you can buy direct from the OnePlus site, only problem is that the gold model is already out of stock.
Oneplus.net
Yawn...Temporarily!
Lisa Mallins it's in now, but I'm having a ton of problems with mine. Sending it back.
Great review
I love your reviews, so detailed. Thanks!
Thanks for a great and informative review! Helped me make a decision to replace my broken phone with this device this week👍
Can we have LG V20 vs OnePlus 3T smackdown?
Are you planning on reviewing Huawei Mate 9?
Great job as usual Lisa
Can u make a video on best laptops suitable for university students? Under budget with good specs.
you're exactly right when you say they are picking up where the nexus/google left off at this price point. i have a nexus and i'm thinking about getting a oneplus because i don't wanna pay $700 for a pixel.

hey would you suggest this or the iPhone 7 regular one
Lisa good review as usual. Maybe I missed it, how is the voice, call quality of the device? thank you
Lisa I can't wait for you to review the new laptops from CES 2017. I will wait for your reviews before I buy one.
amazing review..keep duin that amazing work..👍
Very nice budget phone. Having had an unlucky experience with a Oneplus I bought as a backup device, and no customer support to solve my dead screen I won't be going to them again. But if you don't have the cash this is a good buy and maybe their customer service has improved a lot.
Hey Lisa, really love your video's! Could you do a smackdown between the iPhone 7 Plus and the Oneplus 3T?
Always great to see an exelent review by an adult who isnt saying “Boss" or “Dope" all the time.
hey Lisa, in your opinion which one has a better camera the OnePlus 3T or the honor 8?
Hi Lisa, I love your videos and watch them almost religiously even though I usually am not in the market for a product but because your presentation and thoroughness is excellent I keep coming back for more. A smackdown has to happen! I just love the looks of OP3T
have you tested the LTE? I had the OP3 on T-Mobile, really wasn't getting the speeds on it.
Yes please, smackdown vs Pixel XL. Thanks
thanks to the efforts
useful informations
what are you holding on your other hand at the of the video? I'm curious.
It's a photographic reflector panel that I bounced when I shouldn't have LOL.
Are you going be reviewing the LeEco phones?

gm92845 do you have the video for that sound test
ricky stewart check pocketnow, they have a video on just the audio for this phone
A smack down will be great.
When I was ordering my 3T 128GB, I was afraid the 1080p AMOLED pentile will not be enough (I'm coming from iPhone 6s+) . I was wrong! It's a perfect display I must say.
woodypwx the 6s has a 750p screen with a ips pannel, the 3t has a 1080p super amoled. the 3t is way better lol
I wrote "iPhone6s+" ! That has 1080p IPS with 3 subpixels for each pixel unlike 2 subpixels on the Pentile AMOLED used by OnePlus. That's why I was afraid.
woodypwx i didnt see the plus
Lisa, you said the camera is not as good as the premium phones. I currently have the Galaxy S5. Would the Oneplus 3t be better than what I have now?
Had the One Plus 3 for a few months now and I'm pretty happy with it. The only gripe I have is that I can't attach an ethernet cable using a OTG adapter . Even though stock Marshmallow let's you do this, for some reason One Plus have disabled the function on the phone.
Bal Rayat I never in a million years would have tried to do that
Hector Garza that's OK Hector. I have professional reasons for doing it.
Do you understand timecode and genlock?
Lisa, you are the best! i really like this phone, but i'm not sure. Is Samsung s7 better?
Best techviews, like your channel.
well.. this phone DOES have OIS just like its predecessor.. but they added EIS in order to improve the video stability since it wasn't impressive on the OP 3
What is the weight of this 3T. I prefer 5.3inch smaller and lighter.
what messaging app is that? stock? I don't have that on my 1+3
Nice, but would love to view a ZTE Axon 7 review from your channel (MobileTechReview)
Does VoLTE work on the OnePlus 3T on AT&T? I heard it only works on T-Mobile
Is a nexus 6p still worth it
Lisa I watch lot of your reviews and respect your opinion. But I have to disagree on your screen resolution statement. offtopic.
could you pls do a review of MSI PX60 6QE? would you recommend that for maya or unity3d? pls i need your answer.
I wish this phone supported the CDMA networks because I would've bought this.
Hello mam! How is the battery life in comparison to iPhone 7?
It lasts longer on a charge than the iPhone 7. The 7 Plus is closer to comparable.
The CRITICAL difference: $300-$500 depending on config.
so excited... but hate living in Canada...$599
does anyone know if the 4g on the oneplus 3t works on brazil ???
Here in Australia the cheapest you can pick this phone up for is $639 including GST... I bought a brand new iPhone 5 for $339 to replace my 4 year old 5s, got the Siri upgrade for nothing with OIS upgrade, and its a kick arse phone... The 5's always were...
Bohdi Does so, you downgraded from a 5s to a 5😱
There really is no difference.... I just use it for a phone.... I don't use Siri...
hey!! i have not seen you in a long time
which one is better Nexus 6p or One Plus 3T or S7 (not edge)?
Cepheus nexus 6P
How about a smack down for a similarly priced apple phone? Perhaps an iphone SE?
evildude109 no need, the one plus destroys it
6644pmr
Its gonna be better, but not destroy better
Does it support Tmobile LTE bands?
Youri Narcisse Yep. Works both on T-Mobile and At&T as well as the companies under them.
I have read that it has slow download speeds 3mb/s
Youri Narcisse I've heard the same. However, axon 7 had the same issues but was fixed with an update. Check the forums for how the OnePlus 3 is doing. Last time I checked it was doing better now than it did a few months ago.
Does the oneplus work on boost mobile ??
No, Boost uses Sprint's network and this doesn't work on CDMA networks (Sprint and Verizon and their offshoot brands in the US).
From your opinion, What Is the fastest response phone at 2016 ?!
kaito kid
iPhone 7 Plus is the fastest phone
But every flagship is gonna be very responsive
@OnePlus could have gained A LOT of market share if they just would have made this with a removable battery. I'm going to end up buying a V20 even though I like the OnePlus more. So many people asking for this feature, but only 1 flagship actually has it.
Oneplus 3T is the best budget phone and flagship killer
is there sd slot ..!?
no there isnt, only 2 sim slots
Smackdown request: The 64GB version($439) vs the ZTE Axon 7 ($400)
I love my 3T. Battery last me all day
Compare against the Axon 7

Austin Lawrence What are we going to have for breakfast this morning? We're gonna look at it now.
+DarkHalmut LMAO
Austin Lawrence On the one hand she likes video games and has a steady stream of tech in the house. The downside is she would constantly be benchmarking you against other suitors and if you have seen her play racing games, you would never get in a car with her behind the wheel. Just kidding. She is the best. I have been watching her since I bought my T-Mobile G1.
hahaha that was perfect.
Why couldn't they stay in the math naming? like OnePlus 3 squared. The symbol would be a 1+3 with a square designating the square
yeah it's been a long time with no phone reviews but honestly apart from the pixel the market is a bit meh since the note 7 is out
misterOsc Phone market ramps back up in January at CES but mode February at MWC

She is indeed! ;-)
Muaz Qamar shes my baby girl

o.o but....but
...there is an OIS +EIS combo on the camera just like the pixel. just not as good as the pixel....but regularly rated higher than the s7.
I guess the prices have gone up? Everywhere I look they seem well into the five hundred dollar range or even more...dang!
