    Steve Earl turned me onto Country Music. He writes straight from the soul, from the collective unconscious from Source, he's the man.

    I love this man! Look at their faces, the inmates?? Happiness! No matter what they did or did not do, at this moment they are happy & that is gotta be good for Steve's Karmic footprint.

    One of my favourite songs, my favourite version of it.. and the two guys in the bottom right of the frame around 0:30 rocking out to their best ability given the circumstances never fail to make me smile :D

    Vanax: It's like every time I hear his (Stever Earle's) songs, I think: ''Hey Steve, how come you always think like I do ? Did you really think of me when you wrote that song ?'' And I love the sound. And his attitude!

    This was never released for sale, but the whole show is posted on vimeo. Just do a search for Steve Earle "To Hell and Back." I'd post a link if RUclips let me. It may seem like it is not loading, but there are about 10 seconds of blank screen at the beginning, Enjoy!

    Wow, aren't you judgmental... His lack of health has a lot more to do with coming off years of heroin abuse. There are a lot of worse things than gaining a little weight, which is pretty common when people first get clean. You probably thought he looked good 10 years earlier, but he was also strung out most of the time. He is much healthier now, 15 years later.

    This seems like the penultimate country music concert, just a tic below cash at Folsom.

    He wasn't just "allowed" to perform - he had to as a condition of his probabation. He went to prison for one drug charge, and had another pending Since he got clean in jail, he didn't get time for the second charge, but was required to do this concert.

    The Unrepentant-Duke Stephen at his Earle best!

  • @nilradem
    @nilradem 12 лет назад

    True - but in the case of this video, I think it was getting clean. This is from 1996, so he was only 41 and had been clean a little over a year, and gained a lot of weight quickly in that time, from photos I have seen. Opiates suppress appetite and increase metabolism, not to mention that methodone can cause weight gain. But I agree, usually it is about genetics and ageing.

    like the song, like watching the man play, as a boy,in this,and even now. i suppose fatherhood is a sobering experience. looking at the audience i thought, en la caja, and comments below seem to bear it out. so is this video done as a PSA?like richards in toronto in the 70's? or did he go there out of fellow feeling? hardly makes a difference, comes to the same thing.

    Steve used to be awesome in his earlier days. Present day he tries to influence his politics so heavily on his fans he is hard to listen to. I just went to a concert of his and was very disappointed with his mix of politics and music

      His art has a message from his heart. He wants to use his fame and his influence for good and wants to spread the message about what he knows. That’s a good thing. Rock on, Steve Earle
