I think growing up with mothers that were always on diets or slimming etc have really affected some of us women. i've got the the point now where as long as my breakfast and lunch are healthy and nutrient packed then what i have for dinner doesn't really matter, i try to drink as much water as i remember to and move about as often as i can. also we just need to be kinder to ourselves, if you want some chocolate or half a pack of biscuits then bloody eat them. life is short, eat drink and be merry just make sure you work out and look after your body! its about finding a good equilibrium
I don’t really have rules about eating specific foods, but I do have rules about what I can have in my house. There are some foods I cannot have in my fridge because I will not be able to sleep if they are there - I need to finish them. I’m fine eating them while I’m out, but I can’t resist them at home.
That is a really good idea as we are not going to eat 5 slices of cake in a cafe or restaurant plus sitting in a nice environment makes you appreciate the food more❤

I've recently had to let go of two people for that very reason. It wasn't easy to do, but I know it was the right decision. Also, that green polkadot dress looked really pretty on you and enhanced your eyes!🌞

For me it’s about balance and that’s it in a nutshell. I eat fairly healthy through the week but allow myself one day to have whatever I want . It works. I have lost 47kg with this mindset , had major skin removal surgery and lost a further 9kg. It’s all about what works works for you now and in the long term x
I avoid ice cream, crisps and bread because I simply cannot control myself around them. I overeat them, so it’s just easier not to have them in the first place xx
I have the same problem with bread. Being a Brit living in the US the bread here is shockingly bad and full of additives. I make my own because it’s healthier and tastier. The problem with that is I eat so much more of it.
@@katerich1290 I donated my bread maker for that very reason! I now buy a sourdough loaf from a local artisan baker - they slice it for me and I freeze it. Because it's twice the price of crappy bread, I REALLY savour it, and eke it out until the next month's loaf! Maybe you could freeze yours? Would just take a little bit more effort to eat it...
For my BED what helped me was realizing I can eat whenever and whatever I want. I don't need to hide it, I just want to actually enjoy it. I don't want to be sick or have a headache or any of that. So I choose based on what I actually like. Also, I'm not a child with food poverty anymore. If I wanted to buy 35 cakes, I could afford to do it. Eating whole foods and making new recipes or making food that's actually comforting really is fun. I look at being able to enjoy my food and body as a privilege. I'm enjoying myself ✨️🎀

I know several 70 yr old women who still have diets😮 due to doing it all their lives. Having worked with those with Alzheimer’s, you come to understand as long as they are eating something doesn’t matter about the nutrition. Now I am nearly 60 years old I look after my health not my weight ❤
i have noticed recentley that i have more rules around food and eating if i'm by myself. but if i'm with others and in my community sharing a meal, i am much more relaxed and often eat intuitively. its like the food noise disapates when i am enjoying myself around others!

I'm on a diet, last 6 wks i have had a super strict routine, bowl of shreddies breakfast, salad, fat free yogurt and apple for lunch then dinner quorn burger, veges. Snack in evening apple and a fibre 90 snack bar. Weight dropping off. Only tea/coffee or diet coke to drink. I'm super motivated and the routine of my eating helps me x

I have such a crap relationship with food, I’ve been overweight my whole adult life and feel like it makes me hate myself… I’m 53 n want to just be happy with who I am, why is that so hard? I need to be more like you! My anxiety makes me feel like I constantly am doing the wrong thing.. *sigh*

I am trying not to eat between meals. I let myself have whatever I want & as much as I want at mealtimes but then that’s it until the next meal. I have no control if I start snacking I end up eating so much I can’t eat my meals. It’s not healthy, it’s a waste of money & a bad example for my daughter. I’m obese & all the women on my mums side have type 2 diabetes I don’t know how I’ve avoided it so far but I know my luck won’t last forever so changes have to be made!
Doing so many diets which in turn has manifested ED, I end up feeling so guilty, if there’s one thing I’m scared of and that is my body image! I love watching you and your so real ! ❤

Hi Lauren! I’m a new watcher of your videos and I just want to say I absolutely adore your content! You are such a bright light for so many of us and I just wanted to say thank you for everything you share with us. I have also recently been on a journey with my relationship with food and movement as I’ve had a pretty toxic relationship with them in the past (unfortunately as most women and girl tend to do.) I’ve found the only foods I seem to have trouble viewing neutrally is anything sweet. It’s just been so deeply engraved in me that too much sugar and sweets are “bad” for you even tho I was eating sweets relatively in moderation. I just constantly felt guilty and that lead to WAY more sweet cravings. I started having a little sweet treat with all of my meals (I’m not much of a snacker when I make sure I’m eating enough at meal times) and that helped loads!! Just a small snack pack of Oreo’s or something to give that sweet kick. It showed my brain that the sweets are always available to me and I don’t need to think about them all of the time. Eventually I didn’t want a sweet snack with every meal and I just had them whenever I wanted. It’s exactly like you said “you won’t be able to eat cake forever.” I’m still learning and growing with my relationship with food and movement but overall it’s going pretty well so far. You are also doing absolutely AMAZING btw and don’t forget it!!! Life isn’t linear, recovery isn’t linear. All we can do is our best :))

I appreciate your honesty in your daily life. I try to avoid sugers and too many carbs most days but then crave them some days still eat healthy and balanced diet so I feel healthier and have more energy to work. I'm terrible with drinking water. Love your channel ❤️

A lot of the ultra processed foods are addictive as you have said. Once you give them up you may go through a withdrawal of sorts and then you just stop craving them. Last month I put a ban on processed supermarket products, trying to eat a healthier diet. I've not found it difficult because my food bill is going to be cheaper and that's a great incentive. I've always banned anything that might be a snackable food because I just have no self control and if it's not there I won't eat it. I'm quite good at not impulse buying in the supermarket, but I feel like I am constantly battling with myself between my health and my love of food. :/
Be careful with grapefruit, they mess up many medications so for most medications, you are never allowed grapefruit because it either deactivates them or makes the effect of the meds too strong! So for some hours around my meds times I can't have dairy but I am forbidden to have grapefruit at any time of day! ❤ xx

I remember having grapefruit in the 70's and my Mum would cut it in half and we would use a little plastic serrated slightly curved knife to cut out the segments! I have no control if I start snacking I end up eating so much I can’t eat my meals. It’s not healthy, it’s a waste of money & a bad example for my daughter. I’m obese & all the women on my mums side have type 2 diabetes I don’t know how I’ve avoided it so far but I know my luck won’t last forever so changes have to be made!
Doing so many diets which in turn has manifested ED, I end up feeling so guilty, if there’s one thing I’m scared of and that is my body image!

Hi Lauren! I’m a new watcher of your videos and I just want to say I absolutely adore your content! You are such a bright light for so many of us and I just wanted to say thank you for everything you share with us.
I have also recently been on a journey with my relationship with food and movement as I’ve had a pretty toxic relationship with them in the past (unfortunately as most women and girl tend to do.)
I’ve found the only foods I seem to have trouble viewing neutrally is anything sweet. It’s just been so deeply engraved in me that too much sugar and sweets are “bad” for you even tho I was eating sweets relatively in moderation. I just constantly felt guilty and that lead to WAY more sweet cravings.
I started having a little sweet treat with all of my meals (I’m not much of a snacker when I make sure I’m eating enough at meal times) and that helped loads!! Just a small snack pack of Oreo’s or something to give that sweet kick.
It showed my brain that the sweets are always available to me and I don’t need to think about them all of the time. Eventually I didn’t want a sweet snack with every meal and I just had them whenever I wanted. It’s exactly like you said “you won’t be able to eat cake forever.”
I’m still learning and growing with my relationship with food and movement but overall it’s going pretty well so far.
You are also doing absolutely AMAZING btw and don’t forget it!!! Life isn’t linear, recovery isn’t linear. All we can do is our best :))

I appreciate your honesty in your daily life. I try to avoid sugers and too many carbs most days but then crave them some days still eat healthy and balanced diet so I feel healthier and have more energy to work. I'm terrible with drinking water. Love your channel ❤️

A lot of the ultra processed foods are addictive as you have said. Once you give them up you may go through a withdrawal of sorts and then you just stop craving them. Last month I put a ban on processed supermarket products, trying to eat a healthier diet. I've not found it difficult because my food bill is going to be cheaper and that's a great incentive. I've always banned anything that might be a snackable food because I just have no self control and if it's not there I won't eat it. I'm quite good at not impulse buying in the supermarket, but I feel like I am constantly battling with myself between my health and my love of food. :/
Be careful with grapefruit, they mess up many medications so for most medications, you are never allowed grapefruit because it either deactivates them or makes the effect of the meds too strong! So for some hours around my meds times I can't have dairy but I am forbidden to have grapefruit at any time of day! ❤ xx

I remember having grapefruit in the 70's and my Mum would cut it in half and we would use a little plastic serrated slightly curved knife to cut out the segments!
