You don’t realize how much you appreciate the shade and maintenance until you go to a park with neither. Been going here since I was in the first grade and it’s always a good time. And even when it changes, it maintains the charm.
Been going to Canobie for 20 years myself. It's one of my favorites and always will be. The charm is what gets me, it's not in your face, it's not dirty, it's not doing too much, it's there and it's amazing. The Policy Pond Log Flume is BY FAR the greatest traditional log flume I've been on, I could ride that all damn day. Think a perfect family coaster would be a junior gravity group. Take a page out of Kentucky Kingdoms book. Put the station at Tall timber splash and have it go across the parking lot. Really love your dedication and effort put into this video.
You really sell this park and I genuinely want to visit now. This looks like a phenomenally maintained park that I would be proud to have as a home park too.
And the crazy thing is that 2020 is the worst it ever looked (and it still looked great), mostly since they lost their off-season to finish refurbing/assembling rides and couldn't open at night for their lights to come on.
You nailed it. The one thing that always remains constant at Canobie is the upkeep. It might not be the biggest place in the world, but they dress it like it is. Halloween is a particularity good time to visit.
You reviewed this park so well! We moved here in 2020 and my now 5 year old and 1 year old LOVE this place and I do too. The review is so accurate. It’s the charm, the nostalgia and the people who work the park that make it amazing. Thank you for the video!
Dang spending 30 years at a park, so since almost the 1990s. That is truly nostalgic. I've only been going to my home park, Canada's Wonderland since 2009, and so only about a decade, but spending that much time at a park must be truly special for you.
Hey, I'm a ride attendant at Canobie and I loved hearing you talk about it. Pretty much everything you said is spot on and working here is just great. Love your videos, keep it up man!
Love that this park is still open. You can't even put a value on the nostalgia if you went here as a kid and can take your own. I grew up as a whalom park pass holder with the park 10 mins from mom's house. So seeing it close and watching condos overtake your memories and never being able to take my kids is heart breaking. I remember the mine log ride at canobie as a young child while my grandparents were visiting though, so I cant wait to take my 3 yr old daughter on it and just feel the generational nostalgia!

Super nostalgic watching this, I grew up ~30 minutes from this park and remember taking a school trip here during middle school. I'd love to make a trip back here, and see how everything stacks up to how I remember it
I imagine they will. Their off-season was cut short and they had less time to prep. That's why a few rides opened late this year or had unfinished looks (ex. Crazy Cup's half built tent).
Thanks for posting this video. This gives me flashbacks of when Canobie Lake still had the corkscrew roller coaster. We all probably still miss this coaster. It was so sad seeing it having to go away.

Nice to hear the park is still hanging in there . I moved from NH to Florida almost a decade ago, and I’m spoiled by our Orlando parks. Even so, I’m taking my husband and daughter back home later this year to visit Canobie. I think that says something about the charm of this park.
It’s weird coming back watching this video because now I work at Canobie. I’m also trying to see if I can find any old supervisors that are in a lower position in this video now that it is a couple years old. You still make some great points and I still love the park to this day
It's a neat little park! Fairly short drive for me as a kid so I went a few times that I remember. Where I'm living now, I realize it's actually probably the closest park to me. I should definitely take my kids this year.
This was also my home park back when I lived in New Hampshire. It is beautiful, especially down towards the lake. I wasn't big into coasters before I moved away but I'll definitely have to get on Corkscrew and Untamed the next time I visit.
Canobie is my home park too! When I was 4 or 5, I would make my nana ride the log ride with me over and over again! As I got older I loved the Psychodrome, the Xtreme Frisbee, the Matterhorn, and DaVinci’s Dream. My mom threw up on the Round Up when she was in high school. This is the most nostalgic park for me. Been going there since the early 90s!
I hope to make it to this park the next time I'm in the area. I appreciate the in-depth review and advice. I don't like it when I have to just run in, grab the coaster credits, and get out as quickly as possible. I am wanting to make this a full-day park, to enjoy everything it has to offer.
I love Canobie. I went there last year. It was a very nice theme park. My home park is Lake Compounce and I think I like it slightly better due to Boulder Dash but Canobie looks very nice and it is better themed. Nice video!
I once timed you much rides I could get on untamed in both lines in an hour for groups and solos, the results were 2 for groups and 10 for solos, solo line is the way to go
If it were up to me, the neighbors would get bought out and the Canobie could really start growing. Old woodies would start being purchased and reassembled/upgraded and a brand spankin' new coaster would debut over the lake, nice and tall.
“And the cons” shows Corkscrew 😂 I have never heard anyone say “yeah I love that ride” haha Did you ever get a chance to go to Kings Castle Land? Canobie Lake reminds me of it!!
This is my home park too and I love living so close to it. For reasons of zoning and space, it can't have huge thrill rides. But it's just such a nice place. The single-rider line for Untamed is the park's best secret. I love the pinball parlor too--today, it's the single best publicly accessible collection of pinballs in New England, beating Funspot (which is, however, the place for classic arcade videogames). There was once a better one: Pinball Wizard in Pelham, NH. But it closed down a few years ago, and Canobie has stepped up its pinball game, perhaps in response. Back when most of the pinballs were at the Palace Arcade on the midway, it seemed like they were always broken. Now they take better care of them, and while they won't all be in perfect working order, at least they'll tape over the coin slots of the non-working ones.
Most of my Canobie days precede a lot of the new rides. Coasters were just the YC and the Galaxy, and then the Corkscrew. I need to try Untamed. In my skinny younger years I could get serious air time on the Yankee Cannonball, Not the brightest thing I've done, but I could grab the head rest in front of me and "stand" for the ride. I also have a scar on my shoulder from the Tall Timber Splash, after flipping the raft in the tube. Don't lean into the turns on the Wetter side too much!
@@CanobieCoaster Too bad. I haven't gone too often since around 2000. And my son is only now getting tall enough for some adult coasters, and that's a work in progress to get him on board.
The Star Blaster was the first ride I’d ever been on in my life. Probably around 2004 funny enough. I remember be scared shitless once the ride started 😂😂 I must revisit one day.
@@CanobieCoaster It messed me up some because I honestly had no idea what to expect at all. Took me like 3 years to get back on any bigger rides (finally broke my fears with the Alpengeist at Busch Gardens) I also strongly remember the Mine Of Dark Souls from that first trip. What an amazing ride it was 😃 Really wanna ride that again. I must’ve been about 9-10 years old at the time so maybe it was even in 2002-2003 when I went. I miss living up North. So many cool places to visit. My plan is to finally return for a few days this year with my girlfriend and show her all of the places I went as a kid. Canobie Lake Park will ABSOLUTELY be part of the adventure!
Just went today, the first day of the 2022 season. It wasn't packed at all and every ride had a short line. I enjoyed the park, Yankee Cannonball being my favorite ride
living only 2 hours away from canobie, it is really a great park! I've been 2 times one time for scream fest for my friends birthday and once with my fam.
Idlewild Park in Ligonier, PA used to have a Caterpillar that had a canopy. Rumor has it, that the canopy was removed because a snake was hiding in the folds of the canopy, and when it was placed over the ride the snake was to have fallen into the ride a bit one of the riders. The canopy was removed, then brought back a few years later.
It looks like a really fun park, I'd love to visit one day but being in Europe I don't know if I will ever get to :( Is there any reason why they can't run the Yankee Cannonball with longer trains? Would seem an easy way to increase throughput
A lot of the early PTC woodies at that time ran 3 car, 3 bench trains. Maybe they could get a 4th car- Wild One at Six Flags America did. But I suspect the cost it would take to do that would be better invested just upgrading the brakes.
@@CanobieCoaster I saw a POV where they had a second train in the station, do they not still have that? If they run 1 train ops it shouldn't be an issue apart from modifying the station?
Canobie is also my home park and one of my favorites. Xtreme frisbee is probably my favorite flat ride I’ve ridden as it is smooth and has tons of airtime. I even worked at Canobie one summer as a technician in the entertainment dept, and it was I think the last summer they had Equinox. The ride’s failsafe sensors were hair-trigger and the ride had tons of downtime as a result. Overall I have been happy with the park’s updates over the years, but personally not a big fan on the focus of the water park expansion.
Goodness, I remember equinox! Almost went on it as a kid, but decided to back out at the last minute. I kind of wish I didn't, but if the rumors of some riders ending upside-down after the ride was done were true, maybe I had the right idea back then, heh heh! It's a good park, overall though. I haven't been there in a few years. I'm thinking about heading back sometime soon, though, if at all possible. It's a great park, even if the turkish twist made me a bit sick the last time I was on it. Probably shouldn't have eaten right before I got on that one time.
I love your channel. However I wouldn’t have said a word about shade. Of course one can find some trees to seek refuge. However if the desire is to ride the two major coasters, the sun is almost totally unobstructed during the walk and most egregiously in the line for Untamed. It’s a shadeless journey through hades on a sunny day.
My home park as well and never had a bad experience here. Once stayed all day and rode all main attractions 9 times each haha. Will admit though, after visiting SFNE for the first time, it made it hard to find an immense amount of thrill here but home park regardless.
Weak coaster lineup, long lines, aggressive pricing.... but, you invested the time to make a 26-minute video about this park, topping your 24-minute Cedar Point review, which is the gold standard of amusement park reviews. Based on that alone I'll give Canobie a shot. Looks friendly with pretty atmosphere and high-quality customers. Hoping it feels like Knoebels. I don't have a home park, but if I did, I'd want to be able to sell it like you sell Canobie Lake Park.
The pricing is better than it looks since it has free parking (and nearly all guests are going to arrive by car). The lines are not worse than at other parks in the region--the park has no skip-the-line passes, but that in itself means the standby lines move a bit faster than they do at Six Flags. Aside from the single-rider line on Untamed, my preferred way to deal with them is to go at lower-volume times. My absolute favorite used to be pre-season weekends in May (as long as it was NOT Mother's Day), but Canobie hasn't opened for most of that period in the post-COVID era. My second favorite is right now, the September post-season in between Labor Day and Screeemfest. The waterpark isn't open, but the weather is more temperate and the crowds are light.
I recently went to Canobie and the Frisbee was actually open, it was fun and I definitely recommend it to anybody interested. I would just hold off on food before going on, you don’t want your vomit flying on the ride!
I had a really cool thing happen at Canobie last time I was there. It was July 2019. They were suppose to close at 9 but they decided to stay open an extra hour because they had a lot of guests. They made an announcement over the loud speakers. No other park would do that. Just personal opinion but I would say that Canobie is the best for families or if you just want to relax. Six Flags is the best for thrill seekers. Compounce is the best if you want scenery and also want the best rollercoaster in New England.
@@CanobieCoaster yeah the last time they added any ride was in 2017, and it was just a very bassic kiddie/family ride, i cant even remember them getting a new ride before that in my lifetime
@@CanobieCoaster there just like indiana beach where they can clear out a bunch of their parking lot over there that never gets used, make a path and use some of the woods and old parking lits space back by jackrabbit for a bunch of rides
@@adventuresbyalex6511 I believe that the reason they close at 11 is due to them hiring seasonal staff and due to the state laws of NH there is some rule where they don’t have to pay overtime if they stay seasonal and they can only be open for a certain number of hours outside of the months June, July and August. That’s why they are only open 1-8 on Sundays. Not all of what I said is completely accurate but it is along those lines.
@@lucasmcfadyen5739 the haunts at Canobie don’t open until 5 or 6pm though. During the school year 16 & 17 year olds are able to work for up to 30 hours per week. However minors are only allowed to work 10 1/4 hours when doing “manual” or “mechanical” labor which means ride operators. However, I doubt that this includes breaks. They could close certain rides at 11pm and keep others open until midnight. Or they could close all rides at 11 and close the haunts at midnight.
I remember long ago, as a high school senior, my buddy wrote in the suggestion box "Busch Gardens gives out free samples of their beer. Why doesn't Cannabis Lake Park do something like this?" We never heard back about that.
When I visit I’m probably gonna count the people in front of me when I’m about to board Yankee Cannonball. I’ll let as many people go in front of me so I can be first in line when it’s my turn to board. I still may not get the back but that’s my best option it seems.

I hope to make it to this park the next time I'm in the area. I appreciate the in-depth review and advice. I don't like it when I have to just run in, grab the coaster credits, and get out as quickly as possible. I am wanting to make this a full-day park, to enjoy everything it has to offer.
I know a few people that have tried whirlwind day tours of the northern NE parks, but you miss the atmosphere of the parks.
I love Canobie. I went there last year. It was a very nice theme park. My home park is Lake Compounce and I think I like it slightly better due to Boulder Dash but Canobie looks very nice and it is better themed. Nice video!
Boulder Dash is the main reason I visit Lake Compounce, but that park looks nice as well. I just prefer Canobie in that department.
@@CanobieCoaster plus I am probably bias for going to lake compounce for over 15 years!
It’s my home park too!! My favorite ride from there is Psychodrome!!
That's a fun one.
i absolutely love this park and i haven't been in so long, i definitely need to go back
It's amazing.
I once timed you much rides I could get on untamed in both lines in an hour for groups and solos, the results were 2 for groups and 10 for solos, solo line is the way to go
Absolutely!
If it were up to me, the neighbors would get bought out and the Canobie could really start growing. Old woodies would start being purchased and reassembled/upgraded and a brand spankin' new coaster would debut over the lake, nice and tall.
I have a hunch Corkscrew is being replaced by water slides.
“And the cons” shows Corkscrew 😂 I have never heard anyone say “yeah I love that ride” haha Did you ever get a chance to go to Kings Castle Land? Canobie Lake reminds me of it!!
I went to Kings Castle Land when I was 1 so I don't really remember it.
Great park! Were just there for Screamfest ❤️
Nice!
This park is a bucket list park for me.
It's very charming.
It has a great atmosphere.
Also, part of me died when I heard that the Matterhorn had been removed. Always one of my favorites. Good to see a similar ride is back.
Except Ice Jet doesn't have the same speed.
@@CanobieCoaster Boo. Hiss.
@@603me. 😶
I remember seeing Matterhorn as a kid but never got to ride it. Years later i wondered if i had imagined it being there lol
Canobie is such an amazing gem
I agree!
they should get a cheap relocated schwarzkopf wildcat (i think one of the MD ones are for sale) or something
and then a nice new thrill
That would be a nice fit for the park too and a nice homage to the old Galaxi. Are you talking about Adventure Park's?
Canobie Coaster yeah i saw it on that used rides site
@@djsugarc1075 Interesting
Most of my Canobie days precede a lot of the new rides. Coasters were just the YC and the Galaxy, and then the Corkscrew. I need to try Untamed.
In my skinny younger years I could get serious air time on the Yankee Cannonball, Not the brightest thing I've done, but I could grab the head rest in front of me and "stand" for the ride.
I also have a scar on my shoulder from the Tall Timber Splash, after flipping the raft in the tube. Don't lean into the turns on the Wetter side too much!
Yankee Cannonball hasn't had the same power over the past few years unfortunately.
What a ride to start with!
@@CanobieCoaster It messed me up some because I honestly had no idea what to expect at all. Took me like 3 years to get back on any bigger rides (finally broke my fears with the Alpengeist at Busch Gardens)
I also strongly remember the Mine Of Dark Souls from that first trip.
That's rare to visit on a quiet weekend day.
living only 2 hours away from canobie, it is really a great park! I've been 2 times one time for scream fest for my friends birthday and once with my fam.
Nice!
That's funny. It's a shame the ride is no longer there.
It looks like a really fun park, I'd love to visit one day but being in Europe I don't know if I will ever get to :(
Is there any reason why they can't run the Yankee Cannonball with longer trains? Would seem an easy way to increase throughput
A lot of the early PTC woodies at that time ran 3 car, 3 bench trains. Maybe they could get a 4th car- Wild One at Six Flags America did. But I suspect the cost it would take to do that would be better invested just upgrading the brakes.
@@CanobieCoaster I saw a POV where they had a second train in the station, do they not still have that? If they run 1 train ops it shouldn't be an issue apart from modifying the station?
I’d like to go here, the coasters look good and I’m a big fan of flat rides, especially classic flats
Their flat ride lineup is great.
Im attending Screemfest next Saturday. Any advice?
I would expect heavy crowds. Use my touring tip here, omitting the water rides since those are closed. Carnivus is their best house by far.
Thank you!
I would prefer more investment on the dry side, but I get why they're investing in the water park.
When I saw Equinox break down, it would just stop in the air and slowly lower back down. No one ever got stuck upside down from what I could see.
Oh, well, that's good. It's a shame that things turned out that way for equinox, at any rate.
😵
I love your channel. However I wouldn’t have said a word about shade. Of course one can find some trees to seek refuge. However if the desire is to ride the two major coasters, the sun is almost totally unobstructed during the walk and most egregiously in the line for Untamed. It’s a shadeless journey through hades on a sunny day.
Untamed's queue is rough for shade unfortunately.
Oh, looking forward to this one! A labor of love.
Btw, are you familiar with the longtime youtuber and enthusiast named Canobie Fan?
I've never met him, but I've watched his videos and gotten permission to use a video of his.
Canobie Coaster He lives in Florida now, but I think he’d rival you for the longtime love of and attachment to Canobie .
@@StamfordBridge I'm not surprised. Real Canobie fans name themselves after the park.
An enjoyable and useful review video!
Awesome review!
Thank you!
Love this video I just hope that get some more flat-Rides
Me too. They could really use an inverting one and the old train station plot would be perfect.
My home park as well and never had a bad experience here. Once stayed all day and rode all main attractions 9 times each haha. Will admit though, after visiting SFNE for the first time, it made it hard to find an immense amount of thrill here but home park regardless.
Nice!
It's a place where the atmosphere shines most.
Love it
Glad you do!
I recently went to Canobie and the Frisbee was actually open, it was fun and I definitely recommend it to anybody interested. I would just hold off on food before going on, you don’t want your vomit flying on the ride!
Nice!
I've seen them do that too.
They've done that for me too before.
Fleas
I love going here it’s so close too.
Same for me!
Despite not having anything truly elite this park still looks really fun and I’d love to make it out here sometime
It's geographically the closest park to Boston.
Nice Job!
Thanks!
What’s a Trolley park?
It was an amusement park serviced by a local trolley line. Before cars were widespread these parks relied on the trolleys to get people there.
@@CanobieCoaster ok cool. I remember seeing that on rcdb and not knowing what it meant.
Do you know what year the star cruiser went in?
I do not.
@@CanobieCoaster that was the year I worked there. I remember them putting it together. Lol
I’m going this Sunday ☺️
Enjoy!
Before I worked there, I went there CONSTANTLY, loved it. I havent been back since, it low key gave me trauma
That's one reason why I never want to work at a park.
@@CanobieCoaster i wish they get bubble bounce back.
it seems a lot like my home park, sebreeze, the only difference is that canobie actually adds new rides
Seabreeze definitely gave me vibes of Canobie when I was there, but it has been a long time since they added something significant to the ride side.
@@CanobieCoaster yeah the last time they added any ride was in 2017, and it was just a very bassic kiddie/family ride, i cant even remember them getting a new ride before that in my lifetime
I know that park doesn't have a ton of land though, but if you want a new addition hard enough it can be done. See Indiana Beach or Grona Lund.
@@CanobieCoaster there just like indiana beach where they can clear out a bunch of their parking lot over there that never gets used, make a path and use some of the woods and old parking lits space back by jackrabbit for a bunch of rides
Hey does this park have a Matterhorn rides and bumper cars and music express rides
Yes, they have bumper cars and a Bertazzon matterhorn called Ice Jet.
It doesn't have a siren.
Hey the ice jet Matterhorn ride was slow to me
Is the noise complaints the reason why Screemfest doesn’t go on past 11pm?
Not many parks go past 11 for their haunts anyway. That's pretty late.
@@CanobieCoaster a lot of parks go till midnight
Compounce and Six Flags New England are usually closed by 10 or 11 as well.
Not many parks would do that.
Not to sound mean, but it's Canobie, not Cannabis 🤣
@@missbleach8767 yeah, that's the joke...
When I visit I’m probably gonna count the people in front of me when I’m about to board Yankee Cannonball. I’ll let as many people go in front of me so I can be first in line when it’s my turn to board. I still may not get the back but that’s my best option it seems.
It's the best approach. You have to be precise since the grouper will go person by person down the line to fill the train.
I go there every year!
Me too!
My grandmother use to take the grand kids every year as a big group. Thanks shaws supermarket discount tickets I pre 2020 I was there alot actually did the drive when I was 16.5 yo lol

North Carolinian enthusiast here- I was lucky to have a work-related trip to Portland, Maine in August of 2019 and I used one day to spend the afternoon at Canobie Lake. What an absolute gem and beautiful park. I hope to return some day!
Hopefully you had enough time to hit the main rides.
@@CanobieCoaster Yep! Untamed ended up being my first Gerstlauer and I was lucky enough to get a backseat ride on Yankee Cannonball.

I've been to canobie so many times!
Honestly its better than six flags
For families, I agree.
@@CanobieCoaster, but not for Thrill rides? I was told it was better due to the Waterpark and cleanliness. My wants are Waterpark with Thrill rides I enjoy.
