There are measurable factors that make the footage better than others. 1st: 14 stops of dynamic range with a signal to noise ratio of 2:1. RED and others all measure DR with a signal to noise ratio of 1:1. When you measure them at 2:1 are all just about tied right now with 12.8-13 stops of DR.

The Alexa ProRes recordings are soft internally. Even up to 3.2k on the mini. My F35 is sharper. But also. Alexa footage are easy to grade. Any idiot could do it. That’s why people love it. It’s a good camera, but there were several options at the the equally good ;)
its really all the science they put into the color, and that dynamic range is just iconic. It just looks like the perfect mixture between softness and Clarity, its somehow both at 100%. I love that arri aren't solely about the resolution race, cause the human eye can only see so much. So they just made their 2k look the best 2k ever could
Good to see an actual Arri Alexa related video! Did you auto-cut based on not having audio? Seems like a lot of the cuts are jamming together phrases in a way that creates an unnatural pace. Good information, but, it sounds weird for there not to be pauses where we normally expect there to be a little bit of a gap. Kinda seems like you're saying a lot of things, but not taking time to inhale! And: Really good to be able to see your face - ie: no cap creating heavy shadows. :)
Great video! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. For me it really makes me feel serious about a production. It makes me think about every shot and slow down. I find that I have less coverage but each shot is more intentional. Cheers
Hi, in 2024 if i have an offer for working arri alexa plus (not xt) for 3500 usd (running hours around 4500). And i am a person who have dreamed to own a production cinema camera, is it a good choice to go? Or would i end up being the guy who bought an elephant with out the mahout or taming stick to keep it in line?
i'm not making a comparison here, but i don't know what you are talking about, my BMPCC OG. There's something about that Fairchild sensor that the image is just warm butter. But yeah, it's not an Arri! lol! but yeah, i shoot with my 4k and 6k g2, and my S5 and they are all amazing, but there's something with the OG censor.
Hey man! great content! I would like to know where did you get your Alexa, Im looking to purchase a classic or xt whatev, but i don't know where is the best place to buy it
It needs some connectors, the RS, timecode and 12V. :D There are some budget lens options in PL, the Meike, Sony Cinealta, Red pro zooms or primes, then a bit more expensive the Zeiss CP's, they are full frame too, and Schneider Xenons. As i see the Xenon is closer to the Cooke lenses i may buy some for my Alexa if i have the budget... I mean the Xenons, i'll most likely never buy a Cooke. :D
I would love to get one but it’s so bulky and heavy! For a one man run and gun shooter it must be a nightmare. That’s why I’ll get the mini eventually when it gets cheaper , probably after 5 years lol
The tripod support is making me nervous. Obviously, another hidden expense to safely operate a 15lb camera. Following your journey, keep up the good work!
man keep up the good work, now that you have a working alexa (kuddos for that repair work) keep pushing yourself with your filmmaking skills and try to bring some good footage like the ones of serr or gawx. Stop showing mediocre shots, and go for something more pleasing to watch, you dont need an arri to do great work now a days, a fuji xt4 can do better, but now that you have one give it the value it deserves
Dude, you don't run around buying lenses for your camera that often. There's a better option. You rent lenses for a specific project. Well, that means you know about your lenses, and cinematic process.
Yes I misspoke, I meant to say Oscar award winning not Emmy award winning 😂

Actually an engineer from ARRI said if the Dynamic ranges were measured properly it would more that 18+ stops

The story about the Alexa restoration is insane ! Thanks for sharing this to us !! 🤯
I’m incredibly invested in your journey with three cameras. The footage looks phenomenal 😎
Your content qualitys getting better! Digging your growth brother
Fantastic video - congrats on how this channel is growing!!!

You could have said all that much better bro
Great video. Emmy's are television, you want Oscars fam.👑
Can't believe you were my first youtube reviewer when I bought my sony NEX 5R, keep up 👌🏽
i'm just going to tell you now, any of your Arri Alexa content is gonna go nuts
Bro... Emmys are TV. Oscars are cinema.
EMMY 👏. AWARD👏. WINNING. 👏

What is the model of Manfrotto tripod and head?
look at the super35 or FF Meike cine primes...they can swap from PL or EF mounts! They look great too
great video again! is there a way to get rid of the dead pixels from the sensor? they are very minimal, but they can be a little bit distracting.
That Holga lens actually is like a cult classic
Would it be possible to yourself while recording on the Alexa classic, flipped LCD screen or attaching a monitor?
Oscar award winning. Emmy’s are for tv.
I looked for this comment! LOL. And it's like he edited in the same sentence in over and over LOL.
What tripod do you use with your alexa classic
Do you have any plans on giving it a awesome paint job? Or as is? Which both ways is cool cool.
Original BlackaMagic URSA's are going for under £700 these days, I'd be fascinated to see how one of those would compare to this beast!
quite rubbishly

Love the message man!
If you can reach the manufacter maybe they can give you a record about where the camera was used, maybe it was in some awarded movie 🤔😁👍
where did you get your ef mount from ? was it expensive
It's very expensive 700 after tax
Does the Arri Alexa Classic have built in ND Filters
Nope gotta buy some

The Arri Alexa is the "Zero Excuses" Camera 😊

Ebay bro.
Annother great video, still supper jealous! I love the side handle fitted, how useable is it?
It’s great! Super comfortable!
It needs some connectors, the RS, timecode and 12V. :D

Awesome video👍 thank you
when you use EF lenses on the adapter, have you found a way to adjust the aperture?
use manual lenses. Samyang / Rokinon are great starters
No aperture control with the EF mount I have, so only manual lenses will be fully functional.
im here due to your “restoration process of the cam” videos. and i want more Arri content. go out there we are here watching 🫡
You need some Zeiss cine lens for that camera. Why don't take contact to made some reviews or there lenses?
I would love to get one but it’s so bulky and heavy! For a one man run and gun shooter it must be a nightmare. That’s why I’ll get the mini eventually when it gets cheaper , probably after 5 years lol
Thanks
You are Blessed 🤗
It should be a crime to record something like 1:23 with that gorgeous camera.
😂😂😂
Great work. Your footage is somewhat oversaturated and the dog shot is a bit too green. But you'll get there.
The rolling shutter vs global shutter might be that Alexa quality vs the modern mirrorless
Alexa classic doesn’t have global shutter btw
Keep up the great work🫡
Thank you!

We’re is the comparison video bro
I’m still waiting
Still working on it :)
@@FoxTailWhipz what do you mean working on it have you even start it bro
why would you get an arri alexa classic to attach that type of lens ? make no sense
I just love experimenting :)
wil you make a "5 things i hate about the Arri Classic!" video?
He said he will
Blown highlights and sensor spots on the example footage. 🤣🤣
Are you on of those wannabes with a pocket 4/6k BMC and you think you are the shit?
@@matthewphillips5483 Nailed it.
Your shots you showed didn't look that great? Maybe it was the coloring.
Same question
Subjectivity, I personally like it
Great content but those dead pixels are very apparent.

1mln cuts less and I will subscribe. Cheers!
First?
First on First! 😁
Movies don’t win Emmys unless they’re made for TV.
Get a solid tripod first. That toothpick looks sketchy af
Love your content but I cringed when you said Emmy award winning MOVIES… Emmy’s is for TV. Oscars is movies
"Emmy award winning movies" buddy, emmy awards are for TV.
❤❤🎬
Not gonna lie that footage you showed might as well been shot with any other camera. I guess at the end of the day cameras are still just tools.
Круто!
Yeah, the nostalgia about this camera is worth a lot. But in reality, a iPhone 13 is better in every way. And much cheaper 👍😀
Can't mount different lenses, filters, shoot in LOG or have much latitude with the footage to color grade with an iPhone
@@mattczopek8454 All done in post production. Watch Goonsquad on RUclips. All done with an iPhone 👍
@@jesperwall839 "All done in post production" So you know what's better than iPhone? Blender 3D 😆
@@Blablabla-ol2tr Yeah no. No need for Blender for ordinary video content 😂
I would argue against 'every way'
