There's a scene in Goodbye Volcano High where Fang and her brother learn that their parents can't return home so they have to face the crushing reality that they might die and never see their parents again. This is immediately brushed aside in a scene that lasts like five minutes.
my first thought was "oh...this is a pretty unique looking creature, i dont think ive seen something like it!"....then i realized it was meant to be godamn dino
@@Sleepy_Cabbage exactly like christ all mighty i literally they look like creatures based on half life or halo or some random ass alien bs idk man im just thinking of better games than this god's mistake
I would have been more interested if over the plot of the game, different people reacted to the meteor in wildly different ways. Spending times with loved ones, losing their marbles, choosing to die on their own terms, with a larger emphasis on you choosing what to spend the last days of your life doing. Do you spend it with your family? Do you ask someone out and die in their arms as the meteor hits? do you blow your brains out? There was potential here but it just didn't hit any mark i was hoping for it to hit. Back to Snoot for me
...Actually, I recently heard a rumor that the story's original plan was for the ending to vary based on Fang's social achievements throughout the story - that is, the meteor fragments more and more if they do good. Better endings would result in less damage to the world, the best being a beautiful meteor shower. That...would have actually been good and fitting for a setting like this! Kinda sucks that Kate Grey, the original lead writer who probably came up with this plan, was caught doing a Big Oof and had her contributions to the writing scrubbed out...Even if it isn't a HUGE improvement, it would still result in more hopeful endings than what we have here.
The worst is definitely the main character. There's just too much going on in her design, and I can't tell what dinosaur she's supposed to be. Though, to be fair, it's hard to tell with most of the other characters as well.
I wish I got into a car crash and had amnesia so I could forget this thing. I say "Thing" cuz it's not a game. It's a Baby that should've been Aborted.
You forgot to mention one of the more interesting elements of this saga. The game was tax payer funded. The short of it is Canada has programs that give money to art projects and in some cases games can qualify. There have been quite a few interesting and controversial games funded this way. One of the most unusual cases was an anarchist themed fallout tactics mod that involved a live roleplaying session, with tax payer dollars funding both a french and english version. Both of the mod and the live roleplaying.
For those of you wondering what the game is at the end of the video its called "Class of 09" and you should defenitely play it and guess what it has actual choices that matter and effect the story in meaningful ways.
I think there's a genuine art, no matter how many people want to disagree, to making anthropomorphic characters not look like uncanny abominations. This game fails that
There is. I do almost exclusively anthro characters, and one of the biggest mistakes a lot of furry artists make (this game included) is that, when making an anthro character, you need to take the entire animal into account and build around that. Bad furry artists usually just take a standard human body type and just glue animal parts to it. This causes them to look very uncanny and bizarre, like a badly made mascot costume.
Games like this are pretty much always going to be perpetually ten years out of date because this style of “OMG SO QUIRKY” storytelling you see in games like this and Life is Strange was never in date to begin with.
Fewer endings than Snoot Game, the parody /v/ made in a fraction of the time Fewer endings than Tsukihime which came out two decades ago Fewer endings than Life is Strange which is infamous for how little your choices matter on the ending Fewer endings than Doki Doki Literature Club which is built to railroad you into the designated ending. Look, I get they animated it, which was probably the most labor intensive part of their visual novel, but at that point just sell it as a cartoon instead of interactive software.
Animating a visual novel is actually worse, takes away all the imagination from the scenes and just reveals too much. It's nice when they do it sometimes, like in Dengeki Stryker.
One thing I liked about snoot game was the more traditional family Fang had. When I played GVH it seemed to me like that would be a plot point when reading the note in the beginning but it just goes nowhere..probably because the devs won’t even entertain the idea of the discussion even though they’re clearly going for the “my family doesn’t understand me” game
@@jalpat2272 I know this might roll eyes a bit but I think it’s because the Devs want the aswthetic of a difficult family situation but they’re too cowardly to explore it because their game is appealing to the sorts of people who’d boycott it for even discussing the idea with any fairness. Where’s snootgame doesn’t have such a restriction, infact for a 4chan game they discuss it quite well and quite fairly
Honestly I'm just stuck wondering how Yakuza 5 managed to be a better story driven rhythm game about a struggling musician in a segment that lasts only 2 chapters and doesn't even explore it's subject thoroughly enough.
Because it was made by people who had talent, money, passion, a working brain, heart and soul. Absolutely none of that was found in Goodbye Volcano High.
It's kind of sad because, in my eyes at least, I think the idea of a bunch of dinosaur teenagers going to high school and playing music while dealing with an ominous meteor falling towards them is a really cool idea. But then they designed it like this, and I had to laugh as Dumbsville talked about his horrible experience with it. If I knew how to create a plot really well and could re-design games well, this would be a game I wish I could fix.
Hey me too! I REALLY want to make my own adaptation!!!! Where Fang begins as a really selfish angsty teenager who only cares about wanting to make it big as a musician. There is a hidden heart of gold in there somewhere, but it's very deep. Then the meteor news hits, and Fang's classmates and family react differently...so the objective is you play as Fang as they mature as a person and help everyone out, building up empathy and unearthing their inner heart of gold. Carrying over the Snoot Game "you are not the only person in the world" moral as Fang realises that there's more to life than just doing what YOU want all the time. Different characters may cope in different ways and depending on Fang's interactions with them there may be different endings.
thas the problem, tis so mid.... no bad not good just mid, no taste or flavor, MAN literaly Gbvh you have teenagers dinosaurs, and fuking meteor do somthing broo >:C
6:26 since Dumbsy is bringing this up, I have to remind that Fear and hunger, a game made with RPG maker, which is the equivalent of a calculator powered by a potato, manages to have an insane level of detail, especially the second game, not to mention that they are mostly made by One guy, a very talented guy of course, but still, Vulcano high had a larger crew working on the product, so it’s just odd how the game was launched in this state. Although this can also derive from the fact that the development team has been heavily attacked for extremely stupid reason, that’s certain to bring someone’s moral down, so I can’t just dish out criticism without putting that in consideration, but still, I’ve never seen a game distort so badly on a screen, not even Cyberpunk at launch day.
Funger 1&2 both have issues with being a bit buggy, but they're made by one guy on a notoriously janky engine with heaps of custom scripts, so the fact that the games function at all is a testament to Miro's dedication to his art. Also, both games have multiple endings.
Yeah the release state of the game is less then ideal, but it received 3 big patches since it's release (in span of 10 days), so at least they were aware of it
You know what makes the end of the game even better? The fact that all dinosaurs dying is a lie, there's a difference between mass extinction and complete extinction and I can't help but feel like If the developers wanted to, they could have made a more When the wind blows kind of story, but with a more hopefull ending, perhaps instead of all of them dying, some of the main characters survived and decide their own ways or to stay together, as friends, as family, and continue to live on even in a world of ruins, such an ending would have been much better, because it would make a good parallel between the primal instinct for which all creatures have, continue and will exist on this earth, and on us, humans, those who end up replacing them, because whatever and no matter how much society controls us, it means nothing, you as a human are free decide who you are and how you live your life and that matters, but nah, slap LGBT there like an ad, make everyone get fucked and call it a day, It bothers me that they didn't even try to look at a book about prehistory or speculative evolution and make a world that is an eye candy to see Btw, can we all agree that Fang's thumbnail design is far better than the actual one? At least I can figure out what dinosaur it wants to be
Does that imply that the meteor wasn't a world ending thing? Just more like, it'll cause a lot of damage but they can get through it and rebuild? Cuz if so, it would make a lot more sense for them to, Idk, take shelter somehow and ride it out.
I'm a furry who draws mostly dinosaurs and this game hurts my soul. I have no idea how they fucked up the designs this badly. I even remember seeing an interview where they were showing off the old designs before they chose the final ones and they were better.
El mismo cavemanon lo dijo "las deciciones importan" como puedes hacer un novela visual en la que no importen una mierda tus deciciones es jodidamemte decepcionante
This game negatively affected my mental health. Not even joking, as someone who went through some stuff in life and go to high school this game just made me depressed. The characters being cartoonishly nice and the looming threat of death knowing all the characters would literally be 1945 Nagasaki at the end just gives me mixed emotions. Not only that WASTED MY TIME(just playing a 10 hour game which I played only 4 hours because I didn’t want to waste my time to get a auto bad ending was spiting in my mouth). This is just a perfect example how to NOT make a story game, at the end of the day this is why telltale will be in gaming history for making the PERFECT story games. And overall great review dumbsy
this whole game is like a rollercoaster ride with a choice of routes but all the routes converge to one where they tell you to your face "you couldn't do anything"
The D&D segments felt like it was there for padding. It's like they realized the main story was short and went "We can't ship a game that's like 3 hours for $30. Quick, get someone to add assets to this game." Like the game is fully voice acted, but they have this D&D segment where everyone speaks like it's The Sims or Animal Crossing. It honestly felt like something that was made for another game.
It is actually kind of bizarre that a parody game made by horny furries on 1d4chan is better than the actual gane. Then again. When does 4chan NOT surprise me?
It's a bit sad if we consider that Snootgame, the parody made by 4chan, used the same characters (The SG characters are a copy and paste of the character sheets from the official GVH page) and made a more interesting story with more charismatic characters who turned out to be quite complex and you really manage to sympathize with them.
Snoot game characters are redesigns tho, look at them side by side and you'll see every character has small details changed that makes them look much more natural, like giving Naomi an actual dinosaur pose
The fact that Snoot Game, a fan game made during the production of GVH, is loved so much more than GVH to the point of GVH's developers being salty towards everyone that brings up the fan game... That is just hilarious. In fact, it's what made me interested in this game's drama.
@@Rynobii I like to think that he's the meteor, like how Finn from adventure time was originally the catalyst comet, and after it hits, everyone is reincarnated into a new universe jojo part 6 ending style, and that's how we get to snoot game in a universe with both dinosaurs and humans.

A choice based game where all the characters die at the end can still have multiple endings. Maybe if you're nice to everyone it's a bitter sweet death. If you spend all your time being an asshole it could end with the main character facing her death surrounded by no one they're by her side simply out of courtesy. And since the world is ending I feel like that would influence all characters in different ways. One could decide, fuck it nothing matters any more so I'm gonna do what ever I want. One could try to spend what time they have left with the people around them. One could deny it at first and try to live their life like they were before only to have to face reality toward the end. That could have definitely filled up a six hour game if properly explored.
With a premise of a choices based game where the ending is inevitably the end of the world, no matter what you choose to do, you could do so very many cool things. You could use the entire game as a nihilistic metaphor, saying that no matter what you do, at a cosmic scale, it doesn’t matter at all. And off of that you can make a story about a group of teens deciding to make the most of the little time they have left, and growing to be okay with how useless their actions are. With the meteor, you could also tackle the idea that the things they care so much about, in the end, are fickle and meaningless. The big concert, in the face of the death of everyone, is really not a big deal, and it doesn’t matter who goes, or who plays.
A more compelling disclaimer- "None of your choices matter. No matter what you do, every single person in this game is going to die by the end. What do you choose to do? Who do you choose to be?"
a game where your choices apparently matter just has one ending... this could've easily been fixed by having the main character spend their last moments with different characters before they inevitably die depending on the choices you've made throughout
As a furry myself “A school of teenage dinosaurs going through emotional drama and then are taken out by the asteroid” sounds like a joke ending, and I’ve seen MANY joke endings.
It's just lazy world building and writing. The fact that everyone is cool with it and carrying on like normal despite them all going to die makes no sense.
I think you could make it work, there's interesting works about normal people set in a world that's about to end. Melancholia by Lars von Trier comes to mind, that one has the asteroid angle too (well, rogue planet.) You'd have to go really heavy on the emotional side though
@@cedricappleby2006 The biggest thing is that there needs to be people in the setting who despite it being a no win situation, try fight their fate. There is always some one willing to box the heavens even if they know they will loose in the end.
I think i'm not gonna be the first one to say this but i think the harassment wasnt because of the gender of the characters but because of a writer. When the game was announced one of the writers revealed she was working on the game and people decided to do a background check on her and they discovered she was a reporter for kotaku and most of her news where just sexs mods or anything related to sex and seeing how this game is about teens a lot of people specially from 4chan decided to demand that the writer be fired from the project which she was but as a result they had to rewrite everything she wrote

i figured that media articles have a tendency of making lies about harassment in order to deflect criticism, the question is though why do youtubers keep falling for these do they not do basic research to see if those claims are true
Even when it comes to character design, there are two things anyone can ask: 1. Why are the characters' wings not connected to their arms? What dinosaur has literal angel wings, or, I guess more accurately for the real creatures, griffin wings? What's that? You don't want to account for that when making outfits for the characters? Well then, don't use flying reptiles. 2. Where are the long necks? All the characters have similar neck lengths, so I'm assuming there just isn't any long neck dinosaurs. Did dinosaurs commit a racism? It sounds like they committed a racism.
The only reason Snoot Game is controversial is because of KO_OP being childish and pissy about the game to the point of banning any mention of it on their Discord and that Kotaku article that's clearly paid by them to slander the game. The game is actually more than just a parody, it has genuine heart put into it with an actual, legitimate heartfelt story it wants to tell, it's not just one edgy joke after another (while there are edgy jokes, it's not the entire game and it knows when to be serious), and it's not as politically charged or hateful as these articles and KO_OP claim. Update: I apologize for the shitshow that my comment chain became. Thanks a lot Floofmother, you ruined it for everybody!
"Some edgy jokes" I've heard that there's an ending in which Fang can commit a mass school shooting/suicide, can you explain why this was put in the game? Previous 2 Snoot Game players I've asked ignored/defused the question
@@glibchubik4090 It wasn't an edgy joke. While it was inspired by that artwork, it's played completely straight in Snoot Game. Also, the reason no one elaborated was because it was a spoiler. Also, I don't think there was suicide in that ending.
@@glibchubik4090 The worst ending of Snoot Game involves the main character being an apathetic asshole to just about everyone in the story, including Fang, leading to Fang committing mass murder to try and feel like she has any control left in her life. The Canadian media fund gave 1.2 MILLION DOLLARS to fund this game. For reference when the developers of Darkest Dungeon applied for funds for DD1 they were Denied.
From what i remember when the game was announced. The original narrative allowed you to choose who your love interest was depending on your choices with certain characters. Did they really just rewrite the entire narrative so a questionalble self insert could be the love interest at the end of the game?
@@koichidignitythief7429 Considering how “specific” and “developed” they were with Fang (as specific and developed as this game could). It’s clear Fang was the self insert.
I'm no game designer but I thought A game about a meteor coming to kill everyone would've been a story about a: Socially inept person deciding that they wanna try to make friends out a choice of deciding to hang with 1 or 2 individuals in a presuming failing and falling apart society, and achieving true friendship in a limited number of days with a timer constantly reminding you that you have limited impactful choices before everyone FUCKING dies. and The ending would've been the results of who you decided to die with. And they did highschooler drama over such a simple and easy to execute idea? Like I said I'm no game designer but this idea would've been much much better.
We have to consider 4chan does alot of high quality jokes, i guess when you have nothing better to do you end up putting more effort in what you want to do.
people should stop pushing "your choices matter" and instead push how you'll develop an emotional connection with characters based on your actions. it's not only more intellectually honest but it's also closer to what these MFs ACTUALLY want
But then why even put choices into a game, when they don't even matter? Why not simply make a comic at that point, if you can't change the story in the first place?
@@ninochaosdrache3189 im sorry, did you miss that part where the fast majority of games since forever can narratively be boiled down to straight lines of progression? all I'm saying is that instead of trying to push this idea that every action you take decides the fate of everything and everyone ya take a step back and create an engaging story. sure that story only has one ending but you dont know what that ending IS and as such your choices are based on your engagement with the characters and world while also defining who you believe the person/people you play are themselves within the defined mold the narrative presents ie the story might always end with defeating the demon king but YOU get to decide if your hero is a paragon of virtue, a hopeless lech, an abrasive asshole, or whatever was allowed on your journey because that's how you made the hero behave and the hero was always capable of being any of those things while still being independently defined enough to still defeat the demonking or have mandatory events
Am I the only one who gets annoyed when random features of the character designs just change or disappear? Some of the characters with weird mouth fangs lose them everytime they talk, the main characters tongue goes from forked to pointed in random scenes, and I swear they just place the horn on Trish wherever they want
Now devs and their stans - are doing quite the opposite, ironically. Gamergate-type of shit. And all bcs - of just SNOOT game, which was "made for lulz", and parody of Original game.

As someone who’s very much into dragons and anthropomorphic character designs (so much so that I’m making my own original comic series about them), I will admit that the main character Fang’s design doesn’t really sit right with me. But that’s just the only problem I have with this game. Everything else though, I personally don’t think it looks that bad. Then again I haven’t played it myself, so what do I know? Lol That being said though, people really need to stop complaining about the characters being nb or trans. It’s really getting out of hand.
I feel like the characters should've found out that the world was ending at the beginning of the game so the whole game could be about these highschoolers trying to cope with their inevitable and soon to come deaths. Have the game explore the existential topics that come with contemplating death. Doing that would have made the game much more compelling.
I am more angry at the fact that these humanoid dinosaurs do not look accurate to the actual dinosaurs they are based off of. You could do so much with their designs, play with shapes, behavior and personality. But instead they look like humans wearing weird make up. Also, why does the main snoot girl have feathers!? I know some dinos did have feathers, but not pterodactyl!!
EXACTLY. Pterosaurs, unlike dinosaurs and birds, had hair-like filaments called pycnofibers on their bodies instead of feathers. Not only that, the pycnofibers likely din't cover their wings.
You know after looking into this game's history. Goodbye Volcano High the current story isn't the real story. They had reboot the whole narrative of the story because they fired there lead writer who was the heart and soul of there damn game. Snoot Game's creator either had a good guess/dumb luck on how certain characters was suppose to act and the narrative choses of some characters or the lead writer leaked it after being fired (then again other team member left who could have leaked it as well). Goodbye Volcano High whole story and ending was change because they fired there lead writer who was the only one that knew how the whole puzzle fits together. In a nutshell 5 years in development : had to redo all voice lines and animations due to rebooting the story mid-end of development, no real story, no character development, gameplay is a lie as you can sit there and miss every note and the story continues as if nothing happened, your choices don't matter, one ending, Paying Kotaku money to interview them on the snoot game drama instead of using the money for they're game, and the fanbase almost all fan artwork (96%) are based on snoot game
I don't know if this is addressed- but the game got flack not JUST because there were trans/nob-binary characters. It's because one of the writers (Kate Gray) was a kotaku journalist that added LITERAL porn of underaged harry potter characters to her article. Just wanted to make things clear.
With actual fleshed out characters and many choices you make really does change how the game plays out and has 4 endings, which all of them are emotional. Crazy thing is people call the game nonbinaryphobic, when the worst scene where you act that way is a bad ending and the game makes you hate a character for their actions.
@apollyon404 Endorsing bad things doesn't mean the story isn't better tbh lol. There's a reason shit like Birth of a Nation is studied in Film School even though everyone can agree the message of the film is awful and caused real world harm (It bolstered KKK recruitment).
@apollyon404 Did you actually play it? The whole point of the game is for Anon to stop being a dick and understand and trust others, along with supporting Fang in a healthy way.
@@ogusaiyan8172 As someone with zero knowledge I see conflicting, vague takes on all sides of this whole debacle and just do not know what I'm actually getting into.
the sad part is the voice actors are good, the triceratops is the same person who voiced Julianna from Deathloop and Alyx Vance in Half Life: Alyx and Fang's voice has done Glen/Glenda in the Chucky TV series. But the rest of the game is awful, how is that even possible?
Honestly, this feels like someone just wanted to make a game with their OCs, and had an actually decent general idea of what the story should be, but couldn't connect everything and execute it well to any degree. It's honestly a shame if that's true, because that'd mean a ton of passion went into making something... this not great also, in my opinion, the character design isn't too bad, it could be worse. the real issue is the animation, I don't understand why they couldn't just draw it instead of having some preset, scuffed vtuber-like animation, it's so awkward
Okay look, I'm not a paleontologist nor a historian, neither did i play this shit, but what in the actual hell was that ending. Like, was it a meteor the size of mars for it to kill everyone on earth immediately? Or was it supposed to be the same meteor that hitted the earth irl millions of years ago? Because if it is the latter, its even more stupid than i imagine. While the meteor did eventually cause the era of the dinossaurs to end, it wasn't a big meteor that just blew up every dinossaur in the godman globe, it was the consequences of it that led to the dinossaurs dying, mainly, it covered the earth's atmosphere in soot blocking a majority of the sun light, causing a reduction on vegetation, which in turn lowered the population of the herbivores which in turn caused the carnivores to die off. And even then, a lot of dinosaurs managed to survive the event and either got extinct by other reasons (like the mammals appearing or the ice age) or "evolved" into other creatures that are alive to this day (like alligators). But the problem comes, is that theses dinossaurs clearly possess inteligence and technology similar to ours, meaning they could at least tried to survive the impact, by building shelters, protecting their livestock and crops (at least a small amount of it so they can survive and start again in the future) heaters and air conditioners to survive the wasteland the world would've become, and at least give a little bit of hope that even if their dreams were crushed by the meteor, they would at least have each other to survive whatever would come, instead of a fuck you to the player.
I honestly thought Goodbye Volcano High was cancelled until I saw your video thumbnail just now Dumbsville. A shame the game didn't stay cancelled all things considered.

Best thing about this game isn't the game itself but the fangame that came out and demolished it so hard it made the devs mald out and any mentions of snoot is an automatic kick.
I just realized... This game is essentially a shitty furry fan fiction of the film "Don't Look Up." But the movie dealt the the looming threat of death much better than this game and the ending was a good bittersweet ending with a emotional heartwarming message.
Snoot Game (a parody made purely out of spite for the original developers) was developed, published, and critically acclaimed all while this dumpster fire was being developed. Go play it, it's free and it's great.
There’s also I Wani Hug That Gator, it’s spiritual successor. It’s only a demo so far but I’d say it’s arguably better than Snoot in terms of writing, even has animated sequences.
Honestly the only experience I have with this game was listening to the soundtrack on Spotify because it was made by the same guy who did the soundtrack for Dwarf Fortress Some of the songs aren’t too bad, honestly.
5:30 They're going through a warp gate!

Even Doki Doki has 2 endings.

Hey me too! I REALLY want to make my own adaptation!!!! Where Fang begins as a really selfish angsty teenager who only cares about wanting to make it big as a musician. There is a hidden heart of gold in there somewhere, but it's very deep.

Who do you choose to be?"
a game where your choices apparently matter just has one ending... this could've easily been fixed by having the main character spend their last moments with different characters before they inevitably die depending on the choices you've made throughout

ie the story might always end with defeating the demon king but YOU get to decide if your hero is a paragon of virtue, a hopeless lech, an abrasive asshole, or whatever was allowed on your journey because that's how you made the hero behave and the hero was always capable of being any of those things while still being independently defined enough to still defeat the demonking or have mandatory events

I like the implication that being associated as a scalie implies you're not hetero
Lol
That being said though, people really need to stop complaining about the characters being nb or trans.
Yup. A strange design choice for the pterodactyl
EXACTLY. Pterosaurs, unlike dinosaurs and birds, had hair-like filaments called pycnofibers on their bodies instead of feathers. Not only that, the pycnofibers likely din't cover their wings.
@@zajehouse2300well the MC has hair… but I don’t think that was intentional compare to the other characters.
The perfect catastrophe
4:00 SNOOT GAME MENTIONED 🗣🚨🗣🚨🚨🥹
I LOVE watching analyses of media I didnt know existed before the video was posted
the fact that 4chan made a better version of this game and it still dropped before the real game is insane
The pterosaur deigns are pure pain. Why make her the same color as a dolphin? Why give her six limbs and angel wings?
The ending of the video gave me more emotions than the actual game itself. Good job man
Fr, I wonder what game was shown on the ending
@@oofnoise9741 Class of '09
I don't know if this is addressed- but the game got flack not JUST because there were trans/nob-binary characters. It's because one of the writers (Kate Gray) was a kotaku journalist that added LITERAL porn of underaged harry potter characters to her article. Just wanted to make things clear.
Someone losing their job because of some fucking porn of fictional characters. And then the game flops. Those assholes who fired Kate deserved it.
Me when I have to say goodbye to volcano (idk I haven’t seen the show)
It looks like a TV show
Bye 😢
😭😭😭😭🌋🌋🌋
and the volcano is high, don't forget about that
Funny how a parody game made by 4Chan has a better story than the actual game
@apollyon404 no is not, if you have not play the game then dont talk about something you dont know nothing about and stop lying.
Blowing your load on known good VAs is probably where the majority of the budget went then.
@@TheInfamousCloaker Maybe. They aren’t like Megan Foxx costly and it’s definitely the dialogue and writing.
Honestly, this feels like someone just wanted to make a game with their OCs, and had an actually decent general idea of what the story should be, but couldn't connect everything and execute it well to any degree. It's honestly a shame if that's true, because that'd mean a ton of passion went into making something... this not great
also, in my opinion, the character design isn't too bad, it could be worse. the real issue is the animation, I don't understand why they couldn't just draw it instead of having some preset, scuffed vtuber-like animation, it's so awkward
Kind of like Limbo of the Lost, just without stolen assets.
and 4chan just made a way better game with the same oc´s and a mf named anon

Some of the songs aren’t too bad, honestly.
5:30 They're going through a warp gate! Also, pretty disappointing they could've actually made different endings where being a dick gets you dying alone and sad, being too nice gets you popular but not happy with the crowd, or something like that. Also what the hell that last clip come from? I'm curious given how unhinged it is.
It comes from a VN called "Class of 09" apparently. It's on Steam.
It’s basically Scalie Life is Strange.
Something like that should be more interesting, but…
The fact this game got nominated for any game award at all is insane to me
There's no way they didn't find it ironic when the game about a meteorite killing everyone was nominated for "best impact" lmao
Meanwhile in Snoot Game, you can get a dino girlfriend and study underneath Carl Brutananadilewski and Spear from Primal. Why even bother with the original?
NitW is my comfort game so I was excited to see something possibly with the same themes of "everything is falling apart and there's nothing we can do, so let's just find comfort in the little things"
It's amazing how this game fumbled the bag this badly
The ending with the security guard shooting the woman made me spit the water I was drinking out of shock and laughter! HOLY SHIT I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT OUTCOME AT ALL!
my favorite part is when they said goodbye and volcano highed all over the place
I remember seeing an ad for this, I saw the character designs and just sat there wondering, wait, those were dinosaurs?
Remember Don't Look Up? I know a lot of people hated that movie but at least the threat of everyone dying was treated very seriously
12:20 you actually don't have to press any buttons for the rhythm game. I found this out when trying to fail the battle of the bands on purpose (which does nothing.)
Didn't the developer used to work for Kotaku where she had shown 3d child... "art" in an article? There are some good reasons why people were angry at these developers.
I find it humorous that the character looks better in Dumbsville's Thumbnail than anywhere else in the game.
(Whoever you hired to make the Thumbnail for you Dumbsville knows how to make good looking Thumbnails.)

as a person who played the goodbye volcano high (without the knowledge yet it was a parody of the actual game) i dont see why people actually enjoy the "story" of this game. Its so fucking horrid as well, just because something is slightly better than the other it dosent mean it gets a 10/10 its a solid 3
like seriously i have tried multiple times to make the mc actually a good decent person and not be A CREEP but somehow he becomes worse along the story even with "good choices" what the fucK??/
also did they need to be that..transphobic? it didnt even apply that much to the story aside of making the mc more hateable. This is not how you write a hateable person and try to redeem them all you make them look like is "a dickhead always a dickhead"
