Love seeing people discover that Cable is the son of Cyclops. He's only made a live action appearance in Deadpool 2 a film that never brings up his family history beyond Deadpool calling him Summers at one point. So unless you read the comics you would zero idea about Cable's family connections to the X-Men. Even the original series never brought it up beyond Cable knowing both Scott and Jean.

Same with Nightcrawler. The Movies didn't never say, that he is Mystique's son.

Just to clarify, Charles didn't leave to be with the alien queen, he left because he was dying and the aliens queen showed said they might be able to save him if he came with her. No one was sure if he'd survive or just die offworld. The rest of the world thinks he just died.

I looked up Bastion when I first saw him. Even after just skimming his Wikipedia article, the first thought I had was, “oh, so he’s basically Sentinel Jesus.”
"Any live action super hero movies play it safe" you hit the nail on the head why this show resonates with so many people. This revamped 90's cartoon had no reason or need to go as hard as it did for it's revival but it's what gives it that fresh special sauce.
Fun Fact: Cable(Nathan Summers) is actually a powerful telekinetic like his mom, but never gets to use this power because he's constantly using his abilities to keep the technovirus concentrated in his robotic arm. This is why he basically just uses guns and gadgets to fight
54:10 Gambit was in X-Men Origins, one of the worst and most disrespectful comic book films. The Fox X-Men films only cared about Wolverine, Magneto, and Professor X, and they destroyed everyone else. This show is so comic accurate and gives every character justice, for example. Cyclops in the film is trash, almost useless, but Cyclops is the first X-Men; he is their leader. Hell, in the films, Logan looks like he is way more powerful than other mutants, and Cyclops is classified as an Alpha-Level Mutant, and Wolverine is Beta-Level, so Cyclops is more powerful. And in the Ultimate Universe, Cyclops became a god-level mutant. He used the drug Banshee to unlock the full extent of his powers, which allowed him to infuse his full body with the energy he fired out of his eye. He was able to fly, survive in space, supercharge his cells, granting him strength at the superhuman level, etc., but that ability hasn't been introduced in the Marvel mainstream universe, but it shows that it is possible for him to reach that level.
Wolverine is my second favorite Marvel character, but as an X-Men member, he isn't in the top 5 and about powerful he isn’t even close to the top 10. The other characters have so many more moments, and Logan doesn't even join the team until years later. Storm wasn't even powerful in the films, and she is an Omega-Level Mutant, one of the most powerful; same with Iceman, and Rogue wasn’t even Rogue, THIS is the real Rogue, and Gambit, Angel, etc. We're done so dirty, basically everyone, with the exception of Wolverine, Magneto, and Professor X.
This show is the second-best MCU project behind Daredevil for me; it's almost perfect 9/10, and I love how it shows through the writing and how every character gets their moments to shine.

Professor x was dying in the last episode of the old series. his alien girlfriend took him away to save him. The X-Men didn't know if he would still be alive
Well actually, the X-Men told the public, that Xavier died, but weren't very surprised, when he returned and just before Xavier's arrival on Earth in episode 8, Wolverine said: "Where's the Professor, when you need him?" So I guess, Xavier already contacted the X-Men between TAS and '97 to let the X-Men know, that he survived.

When I watched episode 5, it broke me. I remember the E is for Extinction arc in the comics. Over 16 million mutants killed, leaving a little over a million left in the world. The last line from Rogue was a heartbreaking callback. And love that this show is doing a better job of showcasing how strong Storm actually. I know the arcs flew by in this show but they had to b/c they were only greenlit for two 10-episodes seasons, not like the 20+ episodes per season of the original. But I am looking forward to what comes in season 2 & they really need to hire Beau DeMayo back.

The first two TAS seasons had also just 13 episodes. Only season 3 (19 episodes) and season 4 (21 episodes) had this much.
So maybe, when the series second season is so successful, like the first, maybe we get for Season 3 more episodes? 😙🎶
@@PuckeredMeatballIn case you are unaware, Rogue's VA (Lenore Zann) lost her 17-year-old niece to cancer about 2 weeks before she recorded that episode. Lenore said that she just channeled the real pain that she was feeling into her lines.

The future of great comic book shows and movies is in animation. Spiderverse and X-Men 97 are worlds better than anything MCU or DC related since Endgame

The end of Episode 5 is PURE CINEMA! Better than 99% of any animated or live action stuff I have ever seen.
49:20 If you watch closely, Storm turned the owl into her costume. It was symbolic of what she was saying about learning to accept all parts of herself. She also has latent magical abilities that she inherited from her bloodline, thanks to the goddess that blessed it (Oshtur/Ma'at).
In the comics, Storm has been changing her outfits on the fly since 1975. Reed Richards (of the Fantastic Four) created something called "unstable molecules". They allow clothing to shapeshift. When Storm first debuted, Charles made her uniform out of unstable molecules. They are usually activated with her lightning. She does it in the original series too (the very 1st episode, if I remember correctly).

Rogue actually has Carol Danvers/Captain Marvels powers because she touched her for too long and absorbed them permanently. That’s why she can fly and has a ton of power along with her power where she can absorb powers through touch.

Gambit was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Briefly. There was supposed to be a full Gambit movie starring Channing Tatum, but Fox was bought by Disney and all plans died.

Yeah, Bastion isn't really a character most people would know unless they were super into the comics. Even casual readers wouldn't know much about him. The lightbulb going off about who Cable really is was very fun though.

Listen… episode 5 totally ruined me in more ways than I could have ever imagined when I first saw it. I was an emotional wreck. Just seeing the mutants I’ve known getting killed the way they did left me shocked and devastated. Particularly Gambit. Rogue’s lines while crying really got me so bad.
This hurt way more than Game of Thrones ever did.
