  • Hi guys!
    I know this video is long overdue! Apologies for the long wait.
    This Ondeh ondeh tarts recipe has the authentic taste of gula melaka and it is highly addictive! Hope you give it a try. The dough recipe is similar to our Nutella tarts recipe with a slight twist.
    Ondeh ondeh tarts recipe:
    Makes 60 - 70 tarts
    Pandan dough
    250g salted butter
    1 egg + 1/2 yolk
    1/2 tsp extra virgin coconut oil
    1/2 tsp vanilla essence
    1/2 tsp pandan paste
    1/4 tsp green colouring
    450g plain flour
    Gula melaka filling
    1 tbsp salted butter
    4 gula melaka cubes (270g)
    2 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil
    2 tbsp water
    1tbsp cornflour + 1tbsp water

    Hello, If i don't have any coconut oil for the gula melaka, can i leave it out? If so do i have to replace it with another 2 tbsp of water or just maintain with the original 2 tbsp of water?

    Salam sis i want to ask is the filling will look wet ?
    How long can the tart last in the container

      Salam filling need to be cooking until it reaches a thick consistency at low medium heat for 5 mins. It will harden after piping and cooled down. Can last up to a month.

    Hi, my gula melaka filing spreaded out of the filing cavity and the final look is watery. Is it because it’s too much liquid? Should I leave out the cornflour mixture?

      Hi! The consistency should be thick so should not leave out the cornflour. At least cooked it for 5mins or longer if its still watery. It should harden and not spread out. Recommend using Phoon huat’s gula melaka or authentic gula melaka (darn brown in colour).

      @@nayumiartist Mine completely harden when i set it aside to cool. So I pop it into the microwave, when piping it’s okay but somehow it melted and spreaded out after leaving it out, not sure where I went wrong. I see that your consistency looks better for piping. Should I then boil it out longer?

    Hi! Your gula melaka didn’t harden again after you set it aside is it? I always have that problem :(

      Hi! Yes it will harden need to pipe it as soon as it cools down. If it hardens again i will warm it up for awhile.
