Ben , your verse is probably my favourite . Just because my dad taught me it’s ok to cry as well. I’m not religious , but I’m getting more and more curious about becoming a Christian as life goes on. I need some guidance and support , and it seems to help a lot of people .

This is the type of girl that you turn around and haul ass from. How anyone could hear this, and then proceed to say that women feel this more than men is just mind blowing. It’s socially acceptable for women to show their feelings, but men are looked at as weak/sensitive and are put down for it (hence the phrase “man up”) Other than that though, fantastic reaction!!

He's already relying on several coping mechanisms like gaming, smoking, etc. His fiance is a great person with very little understanding of how it is on the men's side & that's completely fine. But I do hope both of you can grow. I'd suggest go to a gym and workout together. And become better for each other.

There are so many women empowerment songs and as soon as a men empowerment song drops ,we hear about women issues and single mothers. It just proves Dax's point in the song.

My only knit pick with your reaction is at 11:50 when Rabecka says that she "bets more women feel this way than men do." I'm sorry, I acknowledge that there's women that feel like this, but to just blanket statement say that this is probably a bigger issue for women than men immediately gives fuel to Dax's reasoning for the song. Plus you bring up that you potentially get to the point of annoyance that Vincent won't share his emotions, you even within 20 seconds say you realize men are brought up being taught to hide/bottle up their emotions, I don't know his upbringing, but maybe that is the very reason he can't properly convey his emotions. That he possibly doesn't have a lot of experience with conveying them because of said upbringing. So getting annoyed may just make him want to bottle them even more, perpetuating the cycle of annoying you and him not communicating his feelings. Every reaction I’ve seen from a woman’s perspective has said similar things. Men just need to learn it’s ok to express their feelings. It’s ok to cry. That’s not what this song is about at all. The best way to put this song into words is actually another artists verse to this song that I heard. Men build the boat and they let women on it. When that boat is sinking men are expected to let the women off first and go down with there ship. I’m sorry women I get that a lot of you have opinions on this subject and can empathize but there’s not a single one of you who knows exactly what that feels like. There are women out there who build there own lives and build there own boats. But when there boats are sinking the world gets around them to patch the holes or that women is going to be the first one off. And no one will ever question her for it. A man gets off first and he’s a dead beat piece of shit abandoning her.
Why did she say that. Women can always express their feelings. People perceive that as normal. Men get looked at as weak or sensitive if they express how they really feel. I've shown this song to men and women and none of the women I know were able to relate. They said they always get to show their feelings but men never do. However every man I've shown this to has 100% related to this song. To say that, to me, is showing that you disagree with the stuff in this song.
The two words he was talking about was the shortest verse in the bible. And it came after everyone ran to Jesus asking him with tears in their eyes why he didn't come soon enough to save Lazarus. And those two words were. Jesus wept. To this day it's one of the most beautiful verses. Because it shows just how human he was too.
The only women who can relate to this song is the very very VERY strong single mothers out there because this song is mostly about having to hide how you feel so you can keep moving, providing, etc shout-out to all you single mothers out there love you all

When you get frustrated by him not opening up and telling you what he needs, what he wants, or how he feels.
Take a step back and ask yourself this simple question. Why doesn't he feel comfortable or secure in telling me?
Just know that as men, we have often immediately regretted opening up, and doing the exact same thing your frustrated at him for not doing.
It's a learned behavior. The consistent reactions to our action causes us not to act.
It's easier for us to just shut up and suck it up, rather than having to apologize or clean up the mess had we said something.

The second on hit so real. I was raised by my grandparents and it wasn't so much raised as given a place to grow up. My grandpa was retired and did nothing but fish and sit around the house. I had to try to figure out how to be a man and I fucked it all up severely till about 4 years ago when Tom Macdonald gave me a light to get out of the darkness. Almost 50 now and I am alone and pathetic. I do not use my past to make excuses though. My actions were 100 percent my responsibility. I can only go forward and try to live the next half of my life better but man it hurts so much to know that I wasted my youth.

Hi, it's Becka. I get the song. What I am saying is that I think more women understand this than men think. We know you have been taught not to show emotions, and it's very hard. I have dealt with some very manipulating men. You know the type that cheates and steals from you, or get hooked on drugs and when you try to leave the toxic relationship, they wanna cry and act like babies, so you stay so they can manipulate you more.. i spent 5 years with a man because i tried to show him his importance and love he never had before. In the end, it was me that realized how he just broke me down. I have a 9 year old son, and I have raised him to express his emotions instead of holding them in. I explained to him how society teaches men that it's not okay to cry. I have also taught him what toxic signs are in a relationship. His father was a piece of work. Sitting in jail atm.. he hasn't seen his dad for 3 years, and his brother passed away this last year on mother's day in a head on collision with a semi truck at the age of 16. He has gone through a lot, and I am always there for him

I’m a disabled man and I cry all the time.
I don’t care how many times I watch To be a man, I cry from the jump. I haven’t seen my sons in 13 years and I haven’t seen my daughter in 3. ( long stories) but a few months back my eldest son reached out to me and I asked if he wanted to call and he said no because he wasn’t sure if he could hold back tears. I’m like, son don’t be afraid because I will ball for sure and if I ever get to see you again, I will latch onto your neck and never let go. Then I shared the to be a man mega remix video and he was surprised. We later ended up having a 6 hour conversation (2 on the phone and 4 on video) and yes I cried….and afterwards I wrote poems about it.
Dad’s don’t be afraid to show the softer side of yourself to the children you care for. Respect!!!

Its the pressure and the sense if we're not being productive at all times than we're wasting time.
as a man who spent years feeling this way in my late 20s i went to therapy to finally deal with my past. and i think problem is the divide in what each we are taught growing up. for men its being told from father, adults, peers we get taught to keep the emotions inside deep. so when they finally do come out we dont know how to handle them so they come out like a dam breaking and it looks like Anger, uncontrollable crying, self deprecating when all we need is someone to listen and steady us.
but problem is alot men have partners/GFs who see that "anger,crying" and them bad eggs teach them men "ow so everyone was correct to keep it locked away" and it just causes more divde between women and men.
for any man reading this and get angry and direct it towards women Dont brother, becuase there are good eggs out there and the women in your past dont define all women they go through simlar stuff we arnt aware of too. and seek therapy, even Online groups who are going through simlar stuff can help. (you arnt alone in what your feeling and there are people out there who and willing to help you climb out of that dark hole.)

Calling a man a baby for feeling like they cant live without their chosen woman is insensitive, many cant, she becomes the one thing that gives him a reason to continue fighting. Many men die after losing their other half. Not because they are babies, but because they have nothing left to fight for.
