Love you!!
Sabina
5:35 you mentioned you wanted to hear him sing live. He actually had a one take vocal play through of this song and many others, and it’s incredibly close to what you hear in the final cut here
To me the one take it's even much better than the "official" take
As the voice in the one take stands out more in the mix…definitely make this masterpiece even better
They've just layered his voice with a couple tracks in the album version. You can hear him do the deeper and higher screams at the same time. In the one take obviously he just does one at a time so it's more like a live version.
I concur! Watch his one take
ruclips.net/video/VO3NSHk3wl0/видео.html
When it comes to metal, if it sounds impossible for one voice to do it's usually just more layers of a vocalist doing something else to accent the initial sound. They tend not to do any editing trickery unless it's a very blatant effect choice (like a low pitched trap vocal thing or a EDM robot voice) or singing with some help from autotune.
Welcome the Lorna rabbit hole. Next suggestion for you is to here his live performance in one take of this - on his channel :P
Thanks! Need to check that out!
Vouch! Its even better then the album version! Belive it or not! You lust do a reaction of that too!
@@inspecG the mix on the OG one takes and covers.. 👀 are much better also.
This song is a masterpiece. It contains a *huge* variety of different styles both instrumentally and vocally and moves between very different sections and still it seems like a balanced and harmonious in some sense. Like there's nothing there that feels out of place, or nothing that sounds like it's there just to show off. It's a complete story and nothing more.
Sounds like a death core version of Cradle of Filth
@@starolesyev Makes sense. It's symphonic blackened deathcore. They are definitley inspired by CoF.
agree
And to add Will Ramos is one of the sweetest most humble guy in the industry. Charismatic voice did a RUclips video with him putting a camera down his throat! And yes look up the lead singers one take videos
And if you want more Lorna shore Pain remains 1,2,3 all back to back you will feel every single emotion
Great reaction. Your typed comments were spot on. Even without the vocals, the mix of the brutal and orchestral is emotional. Will is incredible. He has a great singing voice too. Personally, deathcore is not my metal thing. I grew up in the 80s so my taste is traditional and thrash and some nu metal. However, Lorna has hit something in me. Others have recommended The Pain Remains Trilogy. I agree. Its a masterpiece, but its hard . Thanks again.
Thanks!! Yea this was so Wild but amazing
There's no effect on his voice, except for a little distortion on his voice at the very beginning. Other than the intro, its all natural. He has a 1 take live vocal playthrough of this song so you can see its all real! If you actually did enjoy this, the absolutely check out Sun//Eater, or Pain Remains part 1 by these guys.
Sick!
There's more parts that you can clearly hear effects as with most studio takes
The only "effects" regarding his singing is layering different screams over each other sometimes. (Mby a bit distortion also, can't say anything about that)
There's no such thing as a studio recorded song without effects. The beginning uses a high pass (not distortion), there's parts with layered vocals, especially the chorus, and the vocal will be EQed to bring out the right tones. Even the one-take has effects on, it just doesn't have layered vocals. Not to detract from Wills skill but there are definitely effects
@Xionic I think you took my comment in the complete wrong direction. Of course there's EQ and all that jazz, my point was he doesn't just sing straight clean vocals into a microphone and it comes out as harsh vocals. He's doing the harsh vocals himself.
Craziest thing about the drummer, Austin, is he plays this fast and looks calm as could be doing it. It's insane
Crazy
Yeah imagine how fast Austin would play if he was awake. 😂😂😂😂
@@brandonpett9144 🤣🤣 he would just take off into the skies off of the seat
I actully gasped out loud, when i saw you made a reaction to this one. Cant wait to see your reaction to “that part”
This was insane!!! I was lost for words like never before 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can you imagine that this band created a very emotional song? 'Pain Remains I' did something to a lot of metalheads that they never thought possible. Even if you would like to see/hear Lorna Shore live, the Pain Remains songs must be experienced with the official music videos. And if you are still able to do this after part 1, then you are welcome to do parts 2 and 3 directly afterwards. I don't want to add more now so as not to spoil too much. 🤘❤🔥
Yeah, I never expected to cry at the end of a Deathcore song.
@@InakiArzalluz Same...
@@InakiArzalluz fr, the trilogy just hits different
+1
Agreed
There is a OneTake performance from will ramos to this song. You should check this out. It´s all him, but with a lot of layering in the official video.
INSANE
I concur. That one take performance really drives it home how versatile and good he is.
There is obviously layering and some post production on the vocals but no significant effects producing his vocal sounds. That's all Will! Check out the interview and lab visit he did with The Charismatic Voice. He's an absolute monster and a uniquely talented vocalist.
What I always like most, is they use layered vocals pretty much everywhere BUT the breakdowns, when the most crazy noises happen.
Love it! Finally reached Lorna Shore. They do ballads too, i suggest Pain Remains pt.1, it's something really special.
You can't just stop at part 1...
Yeah you have to do Pain Remains Part I , II , & III all in one video
@@HardcoreElimination that should be a crime.
Actually had the pleasure of seeing them live earlier this month. They sound almost identical live. These guys are so tight, it's crazy.
When this came out in the summer of 2021, pretty much everyone was shocked by it. Then we get used to it, and learn to love it. I was smiling hard all through your reaction.
Lorna Shore is from New Jersey, and Will Ramos was not their first singer, but this was their first song with him, and he really put them on the map. He's a grand master of extreme vocal techniques. He's also a really nice guy, became really good friends with Elizabeth Zarkov of the Charismatic Voice channel, and it's said that interviewing him is like being handed an excited puppy. It really is all his voice, they just use a lot of layers here. There's also a video out of him doing it live in one take.
Awesome reaction! So here are the thre related videos I would love to see you check out next
1. One of Will Ramos (the singer) one take vocal performances of a Lorna Shore song
2. There's a video on the channel of The Charismatic Voice in which scientists put a camera down Wiil's through, to see what's going on when he's done these harsh vocals. The video is not than an hour, but the actual part in the voice lab is only maybe 10 minutes (?), which should work for a reaction
3. Will Ramos cover of Chokehold (by Sleep Token)
Greetings from Germany
Nope, that is Will Ramos' voice. There is a lot of layering going on but it is just him. You can see him do it live in a vocal playthrough on in channel. I like that version even more.
There is a lot of "extended vocal techniques" going on.
Crazy...!!
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Lorna Shore! This whole EP and their most recent two albums are masterpieces and definitely worth a listen. They are one of my all time favorites and I listen to them daily. Yet I still find myself laughing during a lot of their songs because it can be so much to process.
I dont feel like people listen to lorna shore, rather they experience lorna shore. Its mind boggling the things they do and the depths they go to. Definitely check out sun eater and into the earth before checking out the pain remains trilogy. That trilogy is a legitimate masterpiece that i feel is better appreciated after hearing a few of their other songs to get an idea of their general sound, only to have them flip the table and give you an emotional gut punch. Great reaction as always 👍
Absolutely agree!!!
OPERATION: "Throat Camera". Will Ramos of Lorna Shore scoped while he performs harsh vocals! : ruclips.net/video/Ua8SuWNPrLE/видео.html
This made my day . Yay! I have been waiting for this and I'm not disappointed. I love your reaction to this !!!
Thanks!! I’m glad!!
One take Vocal To the hellfire. You will be just blown away again by the same track. But seeing this live....is otherworldly. I have seen it live twice now, and both times were just amazing!
There is a vocal "one-take" version where Will performs the song solo in a booth without effects. It's amazing.
The 1 take of this song specifically is a must watch.... Will is one of the most talented modern vocalists in the genre
You really dove into the deep end with this one. Turns out you can really swim! Great reaction. :)
PLEASE check out his one take vocals of this. Those vocals are allll him. Will Ramos is on another level.
This is why we love metal.
Good metal have it all. its emotional and amazing.
And the talent and skill of these people... Well your every day pop artist won't be able to play a metal song.
There is a reason, people that listen to metal are generally happier and more kind.
Its just liberating and amazing.
And also with that. Everything here is possible to do live.
Drums, guitar, vocals.
Sure there are edits and added things, as there is to any track that is release these days.
But nothing that alter what the musicians is doing.
Well said
The only effects on his voice is layered vocals. They basically layered low and high screams / growls on top of each other to make it sound a bit more intese, but Will is still performing every scream heard in the track 100% legitimately.
I was taken aback my first listen as well. I was also put off, until I realized that this band's writing is very introspective. They really focus on the internal human experience, with its mix of darkness and light, but always melancholy. Along with others, I'd recommend you listen to lead singer Will Ramos's one-take vocal version. He's super-friendly IRL, but brother what a voice! Great reaction, Sabina!
Perfect reaction. Lorna Shore has a way of grabbing you and sucking you in. Yes, there was vocal editing and layering, but it's all Will. I saw them recently, and this was the encore. The whole concert was outstanding from start to finish. They really do play at this speed, they are all some of the best. Watch some of the play throughs from Austin on drums, Adam on guitar, and of course Will. Will has been described as an ADHD puppy, in the best sense. Heckuva guy, funny, warm, and very down to earth.
After you have watched the one take vocal performance of this (by Will Ramos, of course), check the Charismatic Voice episode where they put camera down his throat to see how exactly do these sounds form. This was actual science, because the human sound production researchers making the imaging had themselves never seen how the throat looks when making sounds like these either. So it was exploration of unknown to all people involved.
yooo im so glad you've been introduced to lorna shore! their singer Will Ramos has a youtube channel he does live perfomances on, super cool you should check it out
Loved your reaction sabina. Lorna Shore is a phenomenal band, the lead singer Will Ramos is beyond talented, you should really check out his one take vocal performances and his vocal covers of sleep Token's songs Hypnosis and Chokehold. His clean vocals are beautiful and powerful. 🤘❤
If you want to see him sing live, you should check one of his one takes of the bands songs, the singer is named Will Ramos. He has is own youtube channel with his one takes and song covers 😊
The reaction at the end is so relatable lol that second needed to literally catch your breath and then just being stuck there trying to process everything only to realize you forgot how you even got here and wondering what to do with the dichotomy of how uncomfortable you are and how much fun you just had
3:38 they have edited his voice a bit in the mastered version. But there is a One Take Vocal Playthrough on Will Ramos' RUclips Channel (Lorna Shore's lead vocalist) where you can hear his voice unprocessed and you can hear it sounds pretty much the same as this.
I have the same model headphones they are great! lol I always kinda felt like it's cool having them as beat up as I do just from listening. you are actually the only person I have seen with the black coming off the band as well, respect for listening to that much music.
They’re all that good live. In for Lorna Shore // Of The Abyss (Will Ramos live vocal one take)
Check out will ramos' one take vocal playthroughs. You'll see just how little it's actually edited. I recommend "Of The Abyss" since there's not a music video for it.
Thanks!!
It is safe to say that I love this kind of heavy music, and at the same time I get so emotional to see people reacting to it! You rock!!
Love this band. I get to see them live next week and I can't wait
If you want to hear him similar to live, you should watch his one takes. He does their songs without all the effects to show his real talent
This song is unreal. Might be my favorite overall. I'm sure this has been mentioned a bunch below, but just in case, you HAVE to react to "The Pain Remains 1, 2 & 3." It's some of their most amazing work. Deathcore love story, lol. No kidding. It's unreal. Emotional rollercoaster. It will blow you away. Love this reaction, so it would be cool to see these guys blow you away again. Oh and Will's clean vocals... look that up too. He's got amazing range.
But please... The Pain Remains next.
Also. My favorite part of every reaction video to this song is the stunned silence once it’s over. Goat level stuff
Some reactors said they felt lightheaded and scared😂 The thing why many not accustomed to this music is because metal is very often written/structured the same way as classical music. Here they even add digital choirs and orchestra. A huge Black Metal band that does this is Dimmu Borgir. Gateways live from Oslo with full orchestra and choir is a must watch even if it's old now. 92 people on stage. Dvd quality video and audio (professional)
"Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh..."🤣🤣🤣🤣That's all we could say the first time we heard it over a year ago🤣🤣🤣🤣That's f***ng lit! 🔥🔥🙌🏻🙌🏻
You must watch their performance at the Grammys, it's pure magic
Wil Ramos's vocals are... unique! He just walks up and sings like that, no effects to speak of. I LOVE his signoff after the one-take playthrough...
I love that genuine reaction, to something that is so out of this fucking world. They are so talented and insanely heavy!
I just seen these guys live two weeks ago while I enjoy the engineering on the videos and track! The live performance takes it to the next level it was a life experience better than skydiving
Would highly recommend his one take of this song. The live vocals are surprisingly similar to what you heard here
You have a strongish accent, so I presume English isn't your first language (please correct me if I'm wrong). You articulate yourself, you've summed this phenomenal song up, better than most native English speakers. Well done!
Thanks!! I’m danish!
Old English Words and sound mixed : Anglo-Saxon, Jutes and frisian.
You definitely need to hear it live, it's incredible. They are on a tour with Mastodon and Gojira right now too
Awesome reaction. The Pain Remains Triliogy will really open you to up to what Lorna Shore can do and what they are really about. Good Job!
Watch the Will Ramos one take vocal playthrough
He is an amazing vocalist, a true master of his craft.
Its interesting that you mention that it sound like a choir of demons, since the song is about dying and going to hell. The EP this is from has a death, after life and rebirth theme and this is the death part.
Austin their drummer can play that fast live. Although doing it for 10 years (he joined the band in 2012) has taken a toll on his body in terms of herniated discs in his back.
4:03 "Is it possible to play drums that fast??"
*Laughs in Archspire*
I think you did very well with that, encountering it for the first time. I first heard it a few months ago, and can assure you that this song, and Lorna Shore's music in general, gets more enjoyable and less discomfiting with repeated exposure. I could probably go to sleep to it by now. I recommend that you listen to Will Ramos's live one-take vocal performance of this song, although the only thing revelatory about it is that he can do exactly what you just heard live. The drummer, Austin Archey, also does playthroughs of their songs, which are interesting and very impressive to watch. I think the guitarist does playthroughs as well. To get a sense of what Will is like as a person, The Charismatic Voice (reactor Elizabeth Zharoff) now features a couple of collaborative reactions between Elizabeth (whose background is as an opera singer) and Will, to songs by the band Sleep Token. (Will is very likeable -- upbeat, friendly and animated.) I think you'd enjoy Sleep Token's music, as well.
Lorna Shore: Pain Remains 1, 2, and 3. Its a beautiful, dark story. Utterly Heartbreaking!!!
Love the reaction format! Would love to see you react to some Slaughter to Prevail. Tracks like Demolisher, Agony, Baba Yaga, zavali ebalo :D
Haha what a reaction! At the beginning when you said you didn't know of this band I thought "Oh you are in for a wild ride!" Will Ramos is an insane vocalist. Check out Black Tongue - Second Death.
Hard to believe this same band will bring tears with there song pain remains. Best in the genre
I seen them live for the first time last week and OMG they are so amazing. It was insane! Loved them so much. Definitely go see them live if you get a chance.
Saw him sing it live last week. He's just as good if not better. Lorna Shore is phenomenal :)
I need more Lorna shore reactions and that is now!
Sabina, I've been longing for you to delve into the Lorna Shore world. AT LAST! :) I think it would be good if you could bring Henri in to see how she reacts. And to see an evil grin from you in anticipation of her shock levels.
I have seen lorna shore live recently best live performance I have ever experienced
I really wish that people would request Will's one take performance of this song. You can actually really hear him. The production of this track is great overall, but the vocals get totally lost in a lot of it because it's such a large sound. In his one take video, he's front and center and I'd argue that he did even BETTER on that than the studio version.
If your ready to hear his true vocals you need to check out his one takes for their songs. Will Ramos is an amazing singer. You’ll fall in love
Death metalcore is (was) not my thing (I'm more into symphonic/power/speed), BUT when I've heard this band with Will Ramos as a singer and THIS song... OMG... This is THE song of the millenium... can't think of how to be heavier and better. Their album is also a masterpiece. Definitely a work that has a place in music history and obviously a must-have.
I laughed and cried at this. Love it. Thank you.
I feel you!!
I'd love to see your reaction to their trilogy of song +video clips Pain Remains 1, 2 and 3. Picture this sound but you're bawling like a baby at the sadness and beauty.
I'd recommend to do them all in one reaction video though as they directly follow on from eachother
7:16 - I LOVE this moment when you just sit speechless
If you want to check out a similar band, I highly recommend Worm Shepherd with their song 'The Frozen Lake Pt 2 (The Ruined)'.
It is all them, they are insanely talented
That is the reaction we were looking for!!!!
Can you play drums that fast and can you sing so "demonic"? Absolutely yes! There are bands that are way more extreme than Lorna Shore, believe me. This is just the entrance to the rabbit hole...
Oh sh*t, I need to buckle up then..
@@sabina1118 Infant Annihilator - Cuntcrusher Drum Playthrough to see some more insane drumming but Austin is one of my fave drummers since I first heard Lorna on the Flesh Coffin album.
It won’t be hard to find Live footage either, so many good festival footage videos.
But I would highly recommend the Pain Remains Trilogy reaction if you enjoyed them. They show how much emotion can be carried through such heavy music. Read lyrics for all 3 with the videos. Bring tissues.
You have to watch his one take vocal of this song, it is absolutely amazing
I Will!
Time for Pain Remains Trilogy lets go you will love it i gar that!!
You said that they must've added something to change his voice to this. Well, it is pure him, believe it or not. If you want to hear his raw vocals, go checkout "OPERATION: "Throat Camera". Will Ramos of Lorna Shore scoped while he performs harsh vocals!" from The Charismatic Voice where they go down Will his throat to see how he's able to produce all these awesome vocals!
He is probably the best vocalist currently, the live performances are nothing short of amazing.
Finally some rawrs and demon pig noises xD
Check out the pain remains trilogy, just be prepared to cry casue its emotional and scared cause Will's vocals xD
Lorna Shore is about to elevate composing and production of heavy music in general. Yes, you have deathcore, grind ore, sludge etc. But what they lack in total is this "need" of a beautiful dark scenery. Obscure? Yes, totally. That is nothing new. But to want to grasp it is the poetic element Lorna Shore discovered and use to absolute perfection.
It sounds weird, but read the lyrics in parallel. I highly recommend "... And I Return to Nothingness", "Cursed to Die" and "Soulless Existence" for this! Its absolute insane.
Ultimately there is no way around the "Pain Remains" trilogy. Enjoy the ride :).
watching her face even 30 seconds into the song and knowing whats coming is so fkn funnny
Like others have said, love seeing people branch out and check music like this out. The Pain Remains 1-3 videos are hard to get through emotionally... something I never thought I'd ever say in my life, lol.
Not to forget that this was their first song with the new singer (Will Ramos) and it was this song that elevated them on the top of the mountain of blackened deathcore. That is a way to make an impact, damn!
Saw them live in Las Vegas last week, just they nail every note, nothing missed in any of the songs. Amazing
Will is an absolute unit. I saw them live in amsterdam a short while ago. Sounds the exact same live, even the inhale/exhale zombie bit in the breakdown. Honestly one of the best metal performances i've ever witnessed.
7:20 Yeah. My brain melted too, after hearing that song.
My favorite hobby is watching people react to Lorna Shore
You did not dissapoint, Will Ramos aka the vocalist, is the most talented vocalist in the metal scene at the moment.
Everything he does is completly natural, having in mind they of course layer tons of vocal tracks for that demonic effect you mentioned.
Can only recommend you check out their Pain Remains trilogy. (Remember to bring wipes to wipe of your tears though)
It's so insane. His skills are MAD
I have conflicting emotions about Pain Remains trilogy. It's a masterpiece in the sense how well it is able to convey the torment inside pained person's head, but I have not been able to watch the set of official videos more than once, because it's just so heavy to experience those emotions. If your own mind is not at ease, this might be too much.
@@JariJuslin I agree. You gotta be mentally prepared for it. If i remember correctly they put trigger warnings before every video. But i am not sure
The best young vocalist in the scene .. period . It takes time to get comfortable with these kind of tracks but once you do it opens up your musical portfolio a whole lot .
Great reaction to Lorna Shore... I just hope you will continue to react to them... ❤️🤘
I don't want to flood the chat if this has already been talked about, but I didn't see anyone mention it in the comments I read so I'll go ahead.
For the drums, I'll start with what he's doing with his hands, playing that fast (called a Blast beat) is a learnable skill that just takes some time to build up the muscle and endurance in your wrists and fingers. It's impossible to imagine doing anything with your hands or fingers that fast but remember that there is a stick involved that offers both a bounce off the surface it's hitting and a hinge point, so basically you hold the stick in a way that you just have to pull your 2nd 3rd and 4th finger toward your palm and the stick will hit and bounce back, and repeat.
As for what he's doing with his feet though, that's a bit more complicated, there are the same kinds of variables as the drum sticks, such as the bounce off the drum head, the spring and tension on the pedals themselves, but to go as fast as he is here it's usually an additional technique that each different person may have a completely different method for, but to answer your question yes it is possible to play that fast, but it requires several years and constant practice to even be able to do it at all, his ability to do it for several minutes like this is even beyond that.
An awesome band with a good but very hyped singer. If you are interested in more of this, please don't hesitate from trying other singers as well.
I enjoyed your reaction to this masterpiece and that even if it's difficult to really get it on first listen, you appreciate the work by all the musicians that has gone into creating it.
If you're curious, Will Ramos has done a handful of 1 take vocal videos with less production on them, so you can really hear what he's doing.
The Charismatic Voice did a video with Will Ramos (the Vocalist) where they put a camera down his throat to see how he does these noises it was a little gross but also really interesting to see and I don't understand how he (and others that do a similar thing like Brand of Sacrifice or Infant Annihilator for example) does it.
Also my Sister doesn't like this the growling kind of Metal but she's going with me to Gojira and Mastodon later this year and Lorna Shore is coming with them she's going to hate me when she hears them Live hehe
Before tou started listening to that song by Lorna Shore - I thought to myself: poor Sabina, she's so delicate...
Let me say this: Elizabeth Zharoff (the Charismatic voice) made a documentary about this singer, he is real. What may seem like an "effect" added to the vocal - is not. The guy has a good voice, really. Even the fact that he recorded especially for all of us "doubters" a special edition of the same song but "one take session" ... Just like Tatiana from Jinger
By Sabina!!
7:35 that was the whole internets reaction when this song came out XD
what you hear is what they are actually capable of. Will Ramos, the vocalist, put out a video of him performing the song. sounds exactly like it, minus the processing and layering. the drummer also actually does play that fast. there are specific techniques to do that and they take quite some time to perfect. and he just dials it up to 11.
you definitely should check out onetake vocal performance of this song by their vocalist Will Ramos!
nice reaction tho😂
Something very interesting just happened you said "to be able to manifest your nightmares" Lorna Shore on the track "Welcome back o' Sleeping Dreamer said " Illusions of realms, disguised smoke and mirrors
Tuning the inner eye
The link the infinite lies within the dreamscape
Open your mind, let it consume your flesh
Dissolve within the infinite
The future belongs to those who believe
In the beauty of all their nightmares"
That last line lol
Welcome to the Death Hell Core Milady!! Cheers from Argentina!!!
