Christopher Columbus discovered the new world and brought Christianity to the west. The United States as we know it wouldn't exist if it were not for him. He was an amazing man, and not a slaver driver. He was actually much more compassionate than the average man during those times. There are documented instances of him scolding his lieutenants and making amends for their cruel treatment of native Americans. If you think I'm wrong, talk to any 14th century historian. Columbus was a great man and he deserves to be honored.
