I definitely appreciate this video. I just bought the same printer and haven’t added ink yet. This helps me set my expectations of how the process will go. Thank you very much!
I know it's confusing, but you have to go through the process of alligning the print heads. Do not skip that part. You have to choose the best looking alignment at every step.
Love your sense of humor. Thank you for the Video. This was extremely helpful. My ET 8550 was just delivered and I delayed opening the box because I felt I would have problems with it as well. So I decided to research some more about potential issues and troubleshooting resolutions. So thank you so very much.
Thanks for posting the video 😂 and thanks for sharing that uneasy part of something not working out on the first try! I’m thinking on purchasing this machine, I hope I have better luck because I’m not as patient as you are 😅 I love your sense of humor by the way ❤
Same exact thing happened to me and now that I got that part figured out I need to try and figure out the ICC profile stuff bc my colors are not good especially when I press my tumblers
On my Epson 7720, my nozzle checks never came out perfect but I saw a guy on here say the same thing. I went ahead and priinted on high quality setting anyway with no issues.
Thanks for the super helpful video. I'm planning on buying this printer to do sublimation printing as well. I wanted to print something larger than 13' x 19", possibly 18" x 28" but not sure how to do it yet, and transfer it onto the fabric. Would you mind create a video on how to print something larger than the printer's largest default size?
My wf7720 just crapped out on me and I upgraded to the et8550. 😅 I wish cosmo had a rushed 2 day shipping option😂 and bigger bottle options! I love cosmo ink
Hello I just converted mind today and I ran into the same problems but before I seen this video. My instructions told me to let it sit for 24 hours before using it agai I would like to know. Did you ever figure out how to fix the problem? Thank you.
I was thinking about trying this myself, but I had a couple questions. I know converting to sublimation ink voids the printer warranty, but does it also damage the printer head? I've heard some people say their printer needed a head replacement 3 times in 6 months, and another who said their printer head was fine after a year. My second question is what do I do about my images that contain white areas? Since there's no white ink and I'd be printing on film, I don't want the white areas to just become transparent, because the color of the fabric might throw off the way the image looks. Is there any way around that or is there something I don't know?
Thank you so much for your video.! You gave me hope girl... Im in the same spot you are but i know nothing about any of this.. its my first printer... I was feeling so defeated and i wacthed your video you have no idea how much your video helped me
Hi there! Would you say this printer would do well with Cricut for vinyl stickers? I know that’s unrelated to your video but I can’t find too many folks who own this printer yet.
I have spent hours and hours trying to find the solution to why my BRAND NEW Epson ET-8550 converted printer will not print the blank ink. I have done print head cleaning and it looks fine but when I go to print a design there is no black ink in my design once printed. HELP!! I am totally clueless at this point. Also, did the printer purge sheet and the black is a mauve???ugh
@@DebbieDoesDesign well the lines were staying the same. I contacted the ink company and they said just try to use it. I am getting beautiful prints out of it so I guess the line maintenance doesn't really matter so much.
Do you happen to know how to fix paper feed problems. I have an Epson ET 4700. It was working fine yesterday. I ran the print head alignment and now my paper won’t feed into the printer correctly. It either won’t feed at all and then say paper jam. Or it feeds on the right side and gets stuck and says paper jam. I have searched and tried everything I can think of and nothing works. Would love any advice!!
Debbie may I ask what printer settings you use for your Mac I am having problems getting mine set up I would sure appreciate it thank you very much. I am using Affinity Desiner
I don’t use Affinity Designer so I won’t be much help there specifically, but I use cosmos ink color profile that came with my ink. And Premium Presentation Matte at high quality with high speed turned off.
I have an 8550 ET and I keep getting about a half inch line across the bottom of my prints. Almost as if the print head is putting down a extra layer of ink. Does anyone know why?
Hey, So I bought this printer and watched your video. I did everything you did but my printer didn’t show me how to align it (that part of your video didn’t show up on my printer) so I just manually clicked on maintenance and clicked on print head nozzle check and every paper that came out was blank. Is there something wrong?
Is anyone finding after converting to sublimation ink that when printing a regular photo on to photo paper that the colour is not very vibrant? Thx Jim
Do you have any issues with the ink showing up dull after pressing? Ive tried tumblers and fabrics and its just not poppin like it should and Ive tried 2 different inks.
So can I mix and match ink brands. I bought star craft at first, not paying attention that it needed six inks, but they don't make the other 2 at all. So can I just buy the other two and use it with the star craft or need to buy all the same brand?
I have heard some people say that, but I did reach out to my ink supplier and he confirmed that they are not the same ink, but said that it still may work ok. There’s really no way to know for sure without testing it.
In order to print sublimation transfers you need sublimation ink. I’m not sure what kind of printer you’re using, but I’ve never heard of a sublimation printer that didn’t use sublimation ink? 🤔
@@DebbieDoesDesign Hi. Our printer is a DNP DS40 Event printer. It's called sublimation printing but it does it by heat transfer of CMYK from a ribbon onto special paper.
I use Cosmos Ink’s color profile (they email it to you when you buy their ink, but I believe they have it available in the files section of their group). Then I use the Premium Presentation Matte at Highest quality, no color adjustments (ICM checked). Unless I’m working with hard substrates, then I use the High Quality Plain Paper setting. It puts done less ink so the images are more crisp.
This is a really good printer ruclips.net/user/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 . The reason I gave 4 stars for tech support (which I don't think this would classify as tech support) is because once you turn the printer on, it does require a little bit of start up time which may bother some who are in a hurry to quickly print something. To offset that though the printer prints very quickly. I would definitely purchase this printer again.
It was not a failure. It needed to rest to let the ink saturate the print heads. That’s a normal process when converting any printer. The setup process is covered exactly as needed. The printer has printed beautifully without issues since.
What are you talking about, her video was great and showed some trouble shooting unlike other videos, I have watched. Get over yourself and don't be rude. I have watch about 5 or 6 of this videos and I feel like this one best prepared me to set up mine once I get the inks delivered.

Do you think the prints are better quality because of the 8550 and the additional photo black and gray?

I am converting to DTF, sorry

I'm in the same boat however a bit worse. Guess I have to try tomorrow.

Could you see if the printer would do a 13inch x 23 inch print under custom size. If you could try it I would greatly appreciate it. thx
What if I already added the Epson Ink that came with the printer?
I haven't printed on it, so how do I empty it?

That’s usually a time, temp, or pressure issue. Not the inks. What time and temp are you using for the fabrics?

All good!
I am having same issue. Horizontal lines evenly spaced. Did all the recommend cleanings etc. Still making lines.
How long ago did you set it up? I had to let mine sit overnight again and it has been good ever since.
@@DebbieDoesDesign bought a new computer. My old one was so old it wouldn’t update. It’s better now.
It’s a year ++ with this printer for me and I NEVER gotten a good test print lines. I’ve been using it and it’s ok with printing
Did this printer take the full 70ml bottles of cosmo ink to fill up the tank?
I would not bother registering the printer. When you put dye sub ink in it immediatly cancels all warranties.
I also read it is ok to put plain black into the photo black. I am planning on getting this printer so am doing research. Have you heard this?

where you able to fix it?

Can I ask why you are using Sublimation Inks in lieu of the normal inks? I have a Dye Sublimation event printer, but that uses heat and a CMYK ribbon.

You have to keep doing the nozzle clean
Quick question…. 2850 or 8550? Big price difference… is it worth the price?
8550
