    Actually Mike Johnson will probably keep his job as speaker of the house in the US. The Democrats will support him because they prefer his pragmatic style to the chaos that would otherwise ensue. This support may prevent Johnson's enemies from even trying to depose him.

      He's only got 8 months left to go anyway. If he hadn't caved, likely enough GOP reps would have resigned to throw the majority over to the Dems, meaning we would have a Speaker Jeffries. So, no, it would have been stable.

    Dunno the situation is more close to Wehrmacht 1943-44 or Red Army 1942. I think the later is a far more optimistic for Ukriane. But history apart, we should also notice how it's unique. Neither USSR nor Drien Reich were fighting as anyone's proxy.

    • @DimitarProynov
      @DimitarProynov Месяц назад

      The West chose the USSR instead of Nazi Germany as the lesser (weaker in their mind) evil. You remember the Lend-Lease? What whould have happened if the West gave fuel/ammo/steel/food to Germany instead of the USSR? If the USSR (which received all the aformentioned aid) wasn't a proxy then , why is Ukraine a proxy now?

    Apparently, the US package will include ATACMS, although exactly what model hasn't been revealed, if Biden finally approved the release of either the M48 or M57 models taking out the Kerch Bridge would be distinct possibility. Both models carry the WAU-23/B warhead, which is a 500 pound modified Harpoon warhead, losing the bridge would make the Russian position in Crimea and Kherson a logistical nightmare.

    North Korea is much closer to Russia than China. China and North Korea are allies because of the mutual defense treaty and China may provide more aid to NK but that is out of necessity not out of closeness. China wants stability in the region, and North Korea is a constant source of instability and uncertainty.
    Russia recently provided actual intercontinental ballistic missiles to North Korea. For Russia, the instability caused by NK was a way of keeping South Korea and Japan occupied and a way to leverage cooperation(to some degree) from these two countries.

      FYI, Active defense doesn't mean retreat. An active defense is the use of offensive actions to outmaneuver an adversary and make an attack more difficult to carry out. Slowing down or derailing the attacker so they cannot advance or complete their attack increases the probability that they will make a mistake and expose their presence or reveal their attack vector. Rigid defense is we just dig in, stay low and have them root the defender out.

    Again with the pessimistic doom and gloom. Remember when you Said with the election of Johnson, USA wouldn't fund Ukraine? That didn't age well.
    And as for Ukraine army retreating due to lack of motivation.. that certainly can be part of it but even if you're very motivated and you have no ammo, you'll retreat. That's basic. Yet you attribute it to moral.
    Not that you need to be Mr.Sunshine but a little of seeing the positives would be a welcome change.
