It might be tough, but a real friend calls you on your shitty behavior. A real friend isn’t afraid to tell you when you’re wrong. Also, real friends who can see you are upset, and what your doing is affecting them, and you keep doing it? I don’t blame that girl, I think she wanted to call them out, and she probably did off stream. But those friends weren’t her real friends.

    Hi, I’m the TTV.
DeathClaw was very sweet and I felt very bad about my friends being so nasty to them. I unfortunately have a very difficult time confronting people when they’re acting like this (and just confrontation in general) and feel deeply ashamed about the entire situation. I don’t want people who stop by my stream to think that this is the sort of vibe or community I give off, because I genuinely want everyone to feel welcome and what my friends did really wasn’t cool. And I’m really sorry about that :/

This reminds me of a time I used to moderate for a Dead by Daylight Streamer a few months back who seemed like genuinely nice people. I was happy to support them and reassure them when they needed it. I even Swfed with them a few times and had a generally good time with them.
Well, There was an incident one day where a killer was playing Pinhead and this TTV didn't like Pinhead at all. I personally cannot stand facing Pinhead, but that does not mean that anyone who plays him is automatically a vile human being and I would never, ever condone bullying for any reason like the streamers did to this poor Pinhead player, who was also a streamer too. After the match was over, this TTV and the kids he was playing the game with in this swf (I don't know if it's his kids or his cousins or what but) made their way to this Pinhead's twitch stream and began to insult him and call him a fat basement dweller. He literally had the Pinhead's stream playing on his phone in the background of the broadcast, and I could hear the Pinhead player becoming very defensive from the insults, and it upset my stomach. I was so upset that I told the TTVs they should drop it and move on.
I dug through the vod and messaged the Pinhead to tell him that I apologized on the behalfs of the streamer and his friends who were bullying him. I told him I don't condone what they said and that I'll be speaking with the TTV about it.
Well, I did, and as a result, the TTV unmodded me,
and honestly I'm okay with that, because I'm happy that I can put my foot down and tell people when something is wrong despite me being their mod or trying to support them, and if they can't handle being told they're wrong and they want mods that only stroke their ego, then that's on them. Mods should be able to support the streamer while also looking out for what's best for them. My only care in the world is making sure I helped that guy feel better in some kind of way, and I did. Screw Toxic TTVs.

Wow it's been almost a year since this video and I figured I should give some sort of an update as to where I stand with the people involved.
For starters, I want to say I've gotten better at confronting people/telling them when things are not okay. There are still times I struggle with it, but I've gotten better at voicing when things have bothered me or when they've said things that I feel could be hurtful to others. As far as my sister goes, she was closer to said friends than I was, and one of them, the one who was probably the most toxic in this video, unfortunately had changed her from the person she was. But after speaking to her about it, and after said friend showed his true colors to her, she has cut all contact with him. Said friend and I have also stopped speaking, as he continuously harassed my sister --calling her names, making comments to offend her when she asked him to stop, etc.-- and after we both called him out on his behavior and censored him out I have yet to speak with him since. The other friend in this group I've spoken to a handful of times and when the other ex-friend is not involved he's a completely different person, in a good way, and I wish he could see that he's not a horrible person. As for the ex-friend, I wish no ill will towards him and hope he grows as a person because his behavior is unacceptable and will only continue to push people away.
All this to say that I've gotten better at confrontation and calling people out for their behavior which I failed to do back then especially in this situation and have essentially cut contact with the main source of the toxicity. Not sure if anyone cares or not as far as that goes, but I wanted to give an update in case anyone out there was curious as to the end-result of this situation. And to DeathClaw, though it's been over a year I still feel awful that I didn't speak up about the toxic behavior when I should've, but that I've learned being silent is still as bad and continue to actively work on calling out toxic behavior and cutting people out who deserve it.

Yeah, I can agree with this. I've had people leave my stream because of other people I had to end up banning from my community as they were sending the wrong message about what was accepted. And it hurts because those were people I thought I could trust and call friend. But unfortunately... You gotta make the decision on what is best for you, and when it comes to people you count as your social group, it can be really hard to speak up against them.

Like Jukes said in the video, everyone can change. This streamer was absolutely amazing and it was refreshing to see one where the streamer was nice. But i wanted to let people know that even if you're the toxic one in a situation like this you can change if you really try. It takes a lot of work and you need to find people that are nice as well but trust me, its possible. I used to be manipulative and i would do anything i could to get what i wanted but I changed and have friends that helped. I hope this streamer can help her friends out of their negativity. And if you're reading this and want to change just know that it's not impossible.

Survivors were extremely toxic and hateful to all the killers, doing every toxic thing possible to show how they disrespect them. Almost every game session ended up with me calling their behaviour out and almost none of them listened, giving totally insane reasons as to why they are "right"

I can only speak from personal experience/struggles, but wanted to give some potential context to why that streamer may be friends with those people. Abuse is a hard cycle to break, & contrary to popular belief your friend(s) can be the abusers. So while most media/examples out there revolve around people struggling to leave abusive partners/parents, it should be noted that the same patterns appear in friendships too. Especially if the person being affected by it has already been exposed to such behavior before (either growing up or in other social circles), the red flags are harder to see & it's certainly harder to depart when they've convinced themselves/been convinced they can't exist without someone/multiple people.
I wish it was talked about more tbh. & part of the solution is honestly outside people -- I hope this streamer sees this. I hope they can feel validated in their feelings, & that this video can give them direction on how to end those friendships (or at the very least how to confront them & attempt to make changes). If your friend circle is small it can feel very hard (& downright hopeless at times) to make a move in a direction that could potentially sever that bond. You truly feel like that person/those people are all you have.
Anyway I rambled but as someone currently going through this process of identifying these toxic behaviors, & speaking on them, & struggling with the panic/anxiety of "being alone," I wanted to toss out my pov on it. & that I truly hope the streamer can find peace with themselves in all the mess.
Also I hope DeathClawGang is feeling better, & I hope their fiance feels better soon

I had a situation like this once when i was streaming and once privately.
Publically i started off telling him to chill then after a few more minutes i just left the call, booted him from my discord and game and banned him from chat, he asked me in DM's what he did wrong and i told him that i don't allow that kind of shit. it was fairly easy for me because i was grown in a family that has conflict all.the.time.
Privately it was in DBD and multiple times i'd have to tell a friend of a friend to stop being toxic to the killer. nobody else was okay with him doing it and everyone else felt too bad to not play with him bc he'd pull the 'i have no other friends' card. I stopped playing with that entire group.

I just wish people would separate game from reality. We live in such a video game centered world now and we have been since, a decade ago? With all the content creators rising up and influencing everyone to follow a new found passion.. When did we remove the humanity side of gaming? Don't you guys remember being kids and playing console with your friends after school? you would never think to insult how they look because you are friends!! My heart goes out to Death Claw and their fiancée I hope that whatever the situation may be that they find solace in each other and that time and doctors will fix whatever it is...

A couple of days ago I found a small streamer on twitch, he was a real sweetheart and we had a good convo. I asked him if he wanted to play slme couple of games together, he said sure.
Later that day he asked if two friends of him could also play with us, I said yes.
Well first game in and those two started to shit talk the killer like hell... I thought whats going on now but played along.
Within time we versed another streamer and they thought it would be very funny to go in his stream and randomly shittalk about him( the sweetheart streamer didn't talked much at all) that was the moment I called them out for their behaviour and guess what a second after I got banned of their discord. A day later I invited the streamer to play customs with my group and he was such gorgeous player. Still supporting each other ^^

This is somehow such a common occurance in DBD. The amount of nice streamers I meet, who play with the worst types of people.. I did bring this up, politely, with two people I interacted with on twitch. I privately mentioned their friend(s) were being awfully toxic and almost turned me off the stream completely with their whining/negativity/toxicity. But the streamers normally HATE to hear this and start defending the nonsensical toxicity and awful behavior. For any other streamers here, please consider: No matter how close you are, your friends bad behavior will directly reflect onto you and will turn people away, if the vibes are awful..

  • @sirsej

I always go check TTVs out that I played against after I'm done streaming to see their reactions and maybe contact them to see if I can make a reaction video. It's the saddest thing when I see someone that was in my chat has gone in and said something awful to them. It feels like I was the one saying those things and it's hard to shake. Especially because my reactions were nothing close to what was being said by them. I do a lot of silly stuff and there's been a few times people have called them stupid for thinking I was serious. Which is completely opposite to what my intentions are. Usually when I apologize for how they were treated it's all accepted and we have some good chats. Luckily I really do think the vast majority of the dbd community are wholesome af. Just really sucks when it's people from your community going in being the horrible ones.

What I find fascinating about this community as new player is that how toxic it is but yet how many people still dont shake it off. This is not the case in the more toxic game communities where people either dont care about someone being toxic or just join in and start flame wars. But this particular game seems to not follow that trend. Personally I dont mind toxicity because I always find it amusing when opposition gets angry enough. Already got one page full of hate comments in my Steam profile just from 100 hours.

Crazy this video pops up on my recommended. I was in a swf with my friends literally yesterday. We all died to a knight and one of my friends told me to look up the killer's twitch. When I did, he was live. I went into his chat to say gg, my other friend said gg but the knight needs a rework. A little passive aggressive, but I say its nothing more than an opinion. Second friend talked a little shit then left. But oh my god, my third friend... The streamer was a furry who was also part of the lgbtq+, and the third friend hated both categories. He harassed and slandered this man for a little over five minutes. I was honestly embarrassed and really wanted to say something but my third friend feels like one of those people no matter what you say, they'll never change. I went back to the streamer's chat, apologized for my friend's behavior and said gg again. Now the one thing that i did tell my friends, was that sometimes its just better to say gg and move on.

I sometimes need to act as a voice of reason in some of my friend groups. Sometimes they get frustrated and start saying unsavoury things about the killer. They more often than not understand what they have said isn't kosher. I feel like I am slowly uncorrupting them when things get heated. I believe they are good people and just need to be able to look inwards when they are in those high stress moments. So hopefully she too manages to speak up against them in the future. Attempt to change up their patterns and effect a positive change.
