  • In Famicom Disk System Game Hunt & Easy to follow Akihabara Tour Guide Map R2 and I will show you the way around all the Akihabara Retro Game shops with a helpful map so it is easy for newcomers to find these retro game shops easily. And I will give you my thoughts on all the FDS games we come across today and give you my thoughts on each of the shop so that you can have a bit of an idea what to expect and how to get around. Stick around till the end of the video for my thoughts on today's hunt and for a little bonus. Of course let me know what your favorite FDS games are down in the comments.

    This takes me back. While I was studying abroad I would poke around these shops quite a bit. A good chunk of my FDS library came from Akihabara.

    Great video, man! I didnt know much about the Disk System at all.

      Im glad you enjoyed the FDS Hunt even though its not your thing. Hope the tour map could help some folks out took me a while to figure out on my editing software but it was worth it i think.

      Yes it is a big concern. Which makes emulation absolutely necessary. Its pretty amazing how there are still working disks😲

    I absolutely love the casing, artwork and overall packaging of fds games. Theyre so charming. But man can they get quite pricey. Id love to start collecting for it one of these days. Great guide to shopping for some games!

      They are a pretty cool part of nintendo gaming history if you ask me and yes they have gotten a bit expensive but there are still deals to be found here in japan. Thanks for the support kind sir.

      Thanks for the idea! Glad you like how it turned out. I hope it helps folks find there way around a bit easier. Did you think the speed going from shop was ok? Too fast? Well i appreciate the idea. It took a while to get it right. This was just a test run. Ill try to make a more comprehensive video in the near future. Let me know if it needs anything.👍🏼

    Map is a cool addition. My hotel is at the station so double win for me. Fds not my thing I prefer carts even if i have to buy UK/USA carts. If I see a nice artwork I might buy one for the collection.

      @@ScruffyLookinRGB I don't own one yet, I am planning on buying one and restoring it using your videos. I only have the nes for now but selling it to get a famicom since it seems a better design to me.

    Pleasant walk through the game shops as always! You´re fond of the "action platformer" label, there´s no platforming in Murasame though ;) It´s more of a shooting-action game in a Zelda-like perspective. Similar to Ki Ki Kai Kai, but no scrolling.
    I have a small collection of 3 FDS games myself. I´d like to have Doki Doki Panic one day, but it´s gotten pretty expensive... Mario´s 3D Hot Rally could be a decent racer, probably worth the asking price.

    can confirm the MD version of wardner, it was a fun one! was always fond of the arcade version and I was able to pick it up on genesis some years ago. apparently there were plans for a localized NES version but never panned out? I would've been all over that one for sure.

      Yes i came across wardener no mori on the md not to long ago. Quite expensive for either system. MD you get more bang for you buck🤩👍🏼

    I really wish that I could afford to travel to Japan. Although, I also don't know if it's at all possible to travel by boat anymore, I won't fly... I'm curious, do either of those two shops ever have All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros., and if ever, is it ever as expensive as the internet says?

      I know Japan had many international ports so its definitely possible. As far as All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros. I've come across it once at super potato and it was super expensive. Never seen one in a hardoff but I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap if you did.

    Traders had Gimmick in box, not sure if it was for original Famicom or other console. Did that price say 246,500 yen??? That's over $1,800 usd!!!!
