A COUPLE say their baby born with lymphatic malformation is their ‘little warrior’. Eighteen-month old Gavin was born with abnormal growth of cysts within the head and neck area. Parents Victoria and Joseph say this condition is so rare it happens in only one in every 4000 births. They are documenting Gavin’s story and sharing it on social media to help other parents who may be going through something similar.

He is so blessed to be born into such supportive warm and loving parents and if he has surgery later i pray it goes as smooth as possible
He is not blessed. You couldn't get any further from being blessed than having a horrendous deformity like that. The miseries, loneliness, stigma and hardships awaiting him will be numerous as he grows up. It doesn't matter if his parents are supportive and warm or not. They can't accompany him for all the rest of his life. I feel sorry for him but I'm tired of hearing people say things like "It's going to be okay" when all of us know it is never going to be okay by any measure.

I love the uplifting way 'truly' presents its videos. We see life in all its forms and in multiple varieties but the message is always positive. You get dealt some real lemon hands in life, that's true; but it's what you choose to do with them. These parents are idiots. They KNEW this early on in the pregnancy! Tired of all these videos where they try to tell people they are good people that believe in Gawd and "he deserves a life" and parents that are selfishly putting their own beliefs before her childs future 'PAIN'! Can we please have logic and reason mandatory in all facets of life.

sorry for your pain. my ex- fiance and I lost a baby at birth a few years back. She was born with no heart beat. It crushed us because we were listening to her heartbeat the night before. I understand your pain

Never be ashamed about how you feel. Someone will always have it worse...but someone will also have it better. It is okay to be sad about whatever you want to be sad about. This is not to say you shouldn't be grateful for the things you have but it is normal to be upset about things. It's part of the human experience.

I'm going to guess it would be very hard to treat. Even if they remove the cysts there will always be a lot of extra tissue and cavities where the cysts were. Removing them is actually probably very dangerous and runs a high risk of infection.
Big Brother Maybe when he’s older they could consider it. I feel like because it’s so big removing it would be easier because you don’t have to worry as much as damaging important organs and stuff. I think before they do any operations on this boy they would have to study his growth a lot so they don’t damage his brain though. Being on his head is probably more difficult than if it was on an arm or leg. The placement of this growth is very unfortunate.

I can definitely relate when you say people don't know what to say when they see your son. I have a one year old who has a genetic condition that caused his eyes to be really small. When people see a stroller of course they come around becasue they want to see the baby. When they look at my son they have a shocked look on their face and they awkwardly say "oh he's cute". I don't want people to be afraid to ask why his eyes are so small!
