- Part 1 of products used in my backyard orchard. Also a review of two helpful apple spraying documents. This video covers my fungicide arsenal.
Always follow manufacturers guide for spraying their product.
Great information! Thank you
oh thats a nice table. i need to print that out.
i bought a medicine dropper. this gives me super smaller amounts for these stronger chemicals.
Would be nice if you get a chance to add some licks!
I space full size trees 10 feet apart and trees are 10-12 feet high. There just big shrubs!
I don’t get a lot but it’s nice to keep my hand in the soil!
I only have 1/6 acre or 120 feet and grow
Fruit trees
plums, yellow delicious, pear, donut peach, elberta peach, apricot, bing cherry
Berries
Raspberries, Thornton blackberries, blackberries
Grapes
Green and purple
I grow a small vegetable garden
Darn, fat fingered:(
Rhubarb
Vegetable garden too!
There are problems with rust and some insects but overall squirrels and groundhog are the most difficult!
Evergreen rust is the biggest problem! My trees are just becoming juniors!
Granddaughters love coming over to see what’s going on in my backyard!
Next year I’m going to start another row of fruit trees along with asparagus!
An expansion of vegetable garden to 10X50 I’m hoping!
I live about 40 miles from Saint Louis Missouri! I moved here from eastern Idaho! Much better winters! I appreciate you show and the information you bring to us!💞❤️
Your Average Gurl sounds like you are living the life. And a busy gardening one at that. Thanks for watching!
Would you please share the definition when you say First Cover; Second Cover; Third Cover; etc. Does that mean the same as first time you spray; second time, etc? Thanks
John, can you please verify at 4.00min.: "Tsp" is teaspoons and "Tbsp" is Tablespoons?
Prof.Kent Tsp is teaspoon. that 3.75 Tsp is very similar to the 4tsp/gallon listed on the next page
That is actually the low rate for a Captan spray with both examples achieving +/- 3lb per acre.
Just what I was looking for. I have about 30 fruit trees. My one question is, can I mix fungicides together when I spray? Do you have a preferred place to purchase these chemicals?
Yes. Mix fungicides and insecticides. Use a “sticker”. Keystone Pest Supply has been great for me.
Good Morning. Is there a better than/worse than thought about using Captan 80 WDG vs. Captan 50 WP? Thanks
Just have to use more of the 50 for same effect.
Thx. I used the tables and google to finally decide that 1 TBSP/gal should do.
sir tell me what should I spray in my apple orchard after heavy rains On full Bloom????
Yes. Maybe. Are trees susceptible to scab, rust, or fire light ? If so, then spray with fungicide. No insecticides in bloom! Hope that helps.
Love your videos. Would like to know your practice of Bordeaux blends of fungicides and insecticides. I’m playing close attention to learn. Thanks.
Butch Willard I haven’t much experience with that spray. I know it’s important to organic growers
Sorry. I was not clear with my question. I was asking if you mix your fungicides and/or insecticides when you spray. So sorry to take up your time.
@@butchwillard9281 you can mix your sprays. there is a long list of "chemical compatibility" chart you need to search for. it should be a .edu site
Table of Incompatibilities.pdf
Butch Willard no bother at all. As mentioned, yes mixing chemicals is usually fine. I tank mix all of mine and put sticker in last. There are some incompatibilities. I’ll need to check out that chart!
My plan is to attract hornets and cats. I only have a few trees though.
beastumfan I have my share of cats. Thanks for watching !
