Thank you for this video! 2 years later and this is still an issue with the Switch on both models. The DNS fix resolved my issue connecting with the Nintendo servers and I’m able to connect now and play normally.
A lot of ISP (mine for example) tell you NOT to reset the router because they set it up on their end with their settings and if you do reset the router, you would have to bring your router back to them or have them come to your house to fix it. If your ISP does this, they probably have a sticker over the reset button telling you not to reset it, but if not, please make sure you don't reset your router without contacting your ISP and making sure its ok to do so.

My issue is on my just dance 2019 it says that the ubisoft connect server won't connect I've tried reconnecting my router everything I've tried , uninstalling and installing the game again , I've tried making the account on my switch and then deleting the account on my phone and making a new one but I still get the message or server error when I try to access just dance unlimited free trial help
Resetting the router (with the paper clip thing) is not such a good idea if the connection is via PPPoE, you’ll lose your credentials and if you don’t have them you’ll need to call your ISP - that’ll be a few hours if not a few days without internet connection.

Holy shit it actually worked, maybe coincidence because I’ve tried connecting 20+ times but I went to setting and selected “the un sync time” the option to not have the clock refresh every know and then and it worked right after
I was playing splatoon 3 and got orange screen of death I fixed that the fixed my problem with the sd card and I tried all these and it didn’t work but thank for the info
It's been happening to me as well when I'm playing smash ultimate. I'll be in the middle of a match and then BAM server communication error. I just tried these steps so hopefully it works!

I was kinda amazed and didn’t think it was possible (then remembered the 3ds ds era of local play) Me and my brother played animal crossing, mario kart 8 and super Mario 3d world. All worked fine. I have an oled and he has a regular switch (both are modded) now I’m trying to fix this local play issue since this sucks not being able to play multiplayer.
--Except that my 9 and 11 year olds, who are just now breaking into the world of screens, actually learned something with that. They thought they were turning it off, when they were just putting it to sleep. And the DNS suggestion worked, so there's that.

My issue.. was that I didn't realize my switch was in local time, and the battlenet servers were checking against real time.. clock resync fixed it.
