This deck seems really cool and the upgrades looked good. But I think I’m gonna try to upgrade it with only cards from the lotr set to keep the most flavor possible. Obviously it won’t be as good as this upgrade but I mostly just play casual anyway.
Nah. You only get the extra counters at end of turn and shipping the turn with all the huge power. Its a trap really. Displacer Kitten on the other hand lets you flicker it during your main phase before attacking which makes effects like this infinitely better than closet and thassa.
@@Winterhe4rt What huge power? It’s possibly 3 extra +1/+1 counters on your board. How is that a trap? You would also play Displacer Kitten along with the others. Thassa is indestructible and can also tap down a creature which can be really important mid to late game. Displacer Kitten is going to be much more of a threat/removable target the second it hits the field anyways.
@@hiddenleaf414 I mean.. I blink Elrond 2 or 3 times and am off to win the game. If you need to ship the turn 10 time to do the same I guess thassa and Closet can do that for you. The only problem is that it doesn't work. The Galadriel in this deck is basically "At the start of combat, if an Elf came into play this turn, draw a card", because why would any of the other players let the Ring tempt you, given how powerful that is? There's also no incentive for anyone to vote with you in the deck, which makes the other commanders worthless as well.
@MrCrunchytime I disagree. When playing elf tribe decks, all it takes is one board wipe to end the game for you. That draw power will allow you to get back in it.
@blaze376192 The draw is good, yes. What I meant was that the Voting mechanic doesn't work. And in the case of this deck, Galadriel is nerfed because there's no way to reliably put elves on the board each turn, and before you say "Elvish Warmaster", he needs an elf to come into play, too. At best, Galadriel is activating every second or third turn. If the deck had an Imperious Perfect in it, it'd be a whole different story. Edit: I'm essentially saying Galadriel doesn't have as much value out-of-the-box as she theoretically should have because the deck itself works against her.

When the Command Zone was going though, why did they not add Conjurer's Closet to the 10 cards in. Elrond is an ETB creature, so having the closet do it during each end phase brings it to value town.
I played this deck as is. Its super defensive with those amazing protections and the elves were explosives. But when i drew Gandalf, and Radagast it just doesn't work well and i wish i had more elves. Galadriel is eh as a commander. Card draws are nice but she isn't scary at all. Avenger of Zendikar ETB, Mystic Reflection, get 10+ copies of Elrond, Elrond ETB triggers, Illusion of Choice to force everyone to give up all of their creatures and dump the rest of the votes into +1/+1 counters, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Sol Ring will never drop below 2$ (lucky Americans with that lower price) because there is always new people playing commander and thus people are buying them. If they didn't reprint them every set Sol Ring would be 4, 5 or even 6$.
I’ve been playing around with this deck and Galadriel is 100% the correct commander. Elrond is played, triggers then is a dead 3/3 on the board 90% of the time
I understand it's hard to take cards out of a deck of this power level, but you're really not making it sound reasonable with some of them. "Yeah, and you also have to pay 2 mana for this artifact"... I mean, yeah? You pay mana for your cards? How much mana would you pay for an artifact that draws you cards every turn, one? Also, for the sake of argument, I would have expected to at least see the number of 5+ spells in the deck in case that theme is more rich than you think. With 15 of them (as well as a few X-cost spells), I'd have thought it's at least worth a shot, but this just felt like you went for the theme you wanted to build beforehand.
I did enjoy this for the most part and really appreciate all the work you guys put into this. This vid has more or less solidified that I want to pick this deck up. I think $50 is too much for upgrades, though. At that point, you're literally talking about dropping over $100 on this deck. That really seems kinda excessive. And some of the things added by using that higher price tag were kinda... generic :/ Like Expropriate: ok, yes, it's a council deck, so it fits the theme unusually well, but it's still kinda obvious and goodstuffy. Same for Avenger of Zendikar: i get that this is a go-wide +1/+1 counters strategy, but again, it just seemed kinda obvious. And AoZ is good WHEREVER you put him. Why not focus more on cards that are *uniquely* synergistic with your chosen commander? For example, Ezuri's Predation gets you a board full of tokens that eat all your opponents' weak creatures but leave the strong things behind, so that Elrond gives your opponents an even worse choice: give you one of their only remaining (strong) creatures, or pile counters on your (bigger and scarier) board? Scourge of Fleets behaves somewhat similarly, bouncing all the low-toughness tokens and dorks but keeping out their high-toughness beaters (and leaving YOUR board intact). I also like Oversimplify here. March of Swirling Mist is (as usual) a terrific toolbox card as well, offering great protection when needed, but also letting you curate your opponents' options for the creatures they can donate to you. Again, I did thoroughly enjoy the vast majority of the vid. I just might have done the upgrades a bit differently. I think lower budgets inspire more creativity. $25 seemed like a good number to me.
If nobody gives you a creature you're putting 4 +1/+1 counters on all your creatures and will potentially just kill everyone. If nobody gives you anything he's a budget craterhoof in your command zone.
@@LouisKing995 if you manage the board properly he won't have creatures to put them on other than himself. If Elrond player has a wide board they are arch enemy and 3 players removals are coming their way
If you don't have any creatures, you can still vote "aid" to give a creature to someone, also it can't attack its owner so you can give away a 1/1 or a token.
If those 10 cards are all you changed I have to say the 50 bucks are really not very well spent tbh. Like.. expropriate blowing out half the budget when literally any other Elf wincon (Ezuri for example) would suffice is really bad budgeting. Like.. not putting in more 1 drop dorcs, Wild growth etc? Also herald of secret streams is a really expensive and off-theme version of Bramblewood Paragon. Think you could have done better here.

Avenger of Zendikar ETB, Mystic Reflection, get 10+ copies of Elrond, Elrond ETB triggers, Illusion of Choice to force everyone to give up all of their creatures and dump the rest of the votes into +1/+1 counters, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
mystic reflection says non-legendary creature.
please do the sauron precon
IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS DECK AND THIS SET >W
The only precon I’ve experienced, where the play was so bad, I would have rather had my money back at half the price.
Ok...
What are they skating around? I feel like there is a joke here that I'm out of the loop of?
Sol Ring will never drop below 2$ (lucky Americans with that lower price) because there is always new people playing commander and thus people are buying them. If they didn't reprint them every set Sol Ring would be 4, 5 or even 6$.
I’ve been playing around with this deck and Galadriel is 100% the correct commander. Elrond is played, triggers then is a dead 3/3 on the board 90% of the time
Play blink effects there's lots of options in blue
Damn. Elrond makes more sense yes, but mt heart says galadriel lol
I think the best way to describe The Ring Tempts You is just as a dungeoney emblem
really bugs me that the card is perforated too lol
if I wanted to chop the card in half, I have scissors lol
GET TO THE CHOPPER ! 🤘🦁🤘
With 15 of them (as well as a few X-cost spells), I'd have thought it's at least worth a shot, but this just felt like you went for the theme you wanted to build beforehand.
potentially 7 mana before you see your first card. dead artifact if board wiped. awful card
Seer-dan hurts my soul.
Elrond should just read etb out a +1/+1 on each creature. No one will ever give you a creature
If Elrond player has a wide board they are arch enemy and 3 players removals are coming their way
@@nickchaput219 that's assuming your opponents aren't also playing decks that need answers.
If you don't have any creatures, you can still vote "aid" to give a creature to someone, also it can't attack its owner so you can give away a 1/1 or a token.
You could also use Illusion of Choice with Expropriate and get 4 extra turns MUAHAHAHA
More gameplay, less chit chat.
Miss when you could just lookup a decklist lol
If those 10 cards are all you changed I have to say the 50 bucks are really not very well spent tbh. Like.. expropriate blowing out half the budget when literally any other Elf wincon (Ezuri for example) would suffice is really bad budgeting. Like.. not putting in more 1 drop dorcs, Wild growth etc? Also herald of secret streams is a really expensive and off-theme version of Bramblewood Paragon. Think you could have done better here.
What’s in the box 🤣
