That was really enjoyable and interesting watching the chap go over every detail meticulously. I think your in safe hands knowing he's looked over the truck first. Great Video Lena.
Welcome back Lena. Hey good job you got a hubby who know's most probably about everything about trucks. Top man. Anyway best of luck in finding the right one...It will happen.
Fantastic video Lena. This is definitely my favourite video so far… I can’t wait to keep following you and your husbands new venture. I’m very excited for you both, it is very inspiring to see what you are doing.
Hi lena. I've just passed my lorry test and done 2 weeks with my company on containers. So far we seem to go to a few different places where the containers come in from the port on a train and get unloaded and the loaded onto wagons. Then take it to who ever needs it most places are reversing up to a ramp where they unload everything with a forklift. Others do it by hand. Then take the empty back and swap it for a loaded. I've done scrap metal too. You have boxes over 5 years old because they get banged about. I've always had a 20 ft container and been at around 42tonne when loaded. There can be long waits in containers sometimes. The skeletal trailers have different positions. Position 4 is fully extended and for 40ft containers. Position 3 is a little shorter for 20 ft containers and 45ft containers are also in Position 3 but use a different location to lock in at the front. 20ft containers will require you to shorten the trailer when being loaded or unloaded so the doors are at the end of the trailer but you drive with it in the middle normally. You don't get good traction when shortened up so good to avoid doing any sharp u turns. Thanks again. I'll look for your Instagram for a shout out. Glad you are getting your own lorry. Well wishes to you and your family.
Wow thank you Christopher some good advise there and wow you’ve learn a lot in just two weeks I can’t wait to get started 😁 will shout you out in my next vid 11th March 😀
Hi Lena Thankyou for the shoutout its a shame that Volvo truck needed all that work doing to it but i bet you are glad you had your husband there to check it all for you. Well we are going to try and come down to Peterborough Truck Fest to meet you ? . Take care and keep on truckin
Excellent video Lena, now going through these in reverse order, good that your other half really knows what his looking at! Not to spoil your videos for anyone else, but a wise decision to leave the red Volvo, you did so much better! Look forward to seeing you out on the road with your own Truck. Keep up the good work and keep safe! 😀🚛
Greetings from the 🇺🇸 ,you will get a good truck ,be patient you see I been trucking for 39 years ,all over 🇺🇸 and Canada 🇨🇦, God bless you and the family, LC

Ah very sound advice thank you. Yes we fully prepared for time off the road and breakdowns and fixing.. wil see what the future brings one step at a time. One day be nice to get a new one 🤞🏻
As an ex-owner operator I wish you all the best, your going to need it,I just hope you’re got plenty of money around you because finding people who are prepared to give you credit are few and far apart, buying a truck that old with that mileage on it is a risky business, Volvo are great vehicles but even they wear our and repairs are horrendous, you won’t find the banks very helpful when you need them most either, they rate haulage business very risky and are not happy giving overdrafts, the haulage industry is a minefield of legislation that takes a lot of learning but I wish you all the very best of luck in your new venture.
Thank you very much David, yes I’m going to need all the luck I’m sure. Whichever way my business goes I’ll document as much as I can if it so even if I flop it’ll be on RUclips - keep tuned 😉

Hi lena & Michael I watched your video today of you buying the white Volvo very good nice truck on your way back home michael said you will be working out of felixstow just letting you know that they have some electric cranes there now & you have to purchase a window transfer which sticks to drivers window & passenger window to enable you to get loaded the crane registers with the transfer & tells you where to go ask the firm your hauling for where to purchase them seven lincs are a great firm to haul for with great rates
Hi Lena hope you get your truck soon and get on the road as an owner driver .I got married to Debbie last November we had a great day good luck to you and your family .
9 times out of 10 your containers would go back to felixstowe empty. Also you would need a road haulage identification card to run out of felixstowe which you can obtain from the police station on the port . I know 10 to 12 years ago when i was running out of felixstowe i had to have one of these identification cards . Also be aware container rates aren't always that great so be prepared not to put all of your eggs in one basket. Do different types of haulage when and whenever you can..
Maybe best to save some more and get something that will last longer and come with far less faults. Always best to wait for the right vehicle to come along ❤
Great video as a car mechanic really interested in looking at your partner sticks to his guns with the Saleman but an extra thousand pounds on your offer, priceless. Then on your drive home him exPlaning what they will do but not actually repair the lorry correctly
keep your eye on the clean air zones popping up all over the place they are making second-hand euro 5 trucks redundant. I think working on containers is great because the payment terms are much better (e.g 14 days payment in the bank) good for keeping the cashflow going in the business... if you go dedicated subbing with one company (i.e. Maritime and Co) try and blag free skeleton trailer rental as your carting their boxes anyway and saves money on 6 weekly checks and tyres on the trailer. If you can run your truck on locals day and night your laughing and will allow you to build up cash quick and get a second truck going if thats the aim. I wish you all the best... its massive graft... be prepared for ups and downs.
Great video. Problem with trucks now is with ad blue systems and electric injectors etc they only designed last 5 years . And with new trucks waiting time of 2 years second hands trucks are going up in price.
I own a 2012 FH13 460 1.021MIL KMS on it. Lovely truck. I also have another 5 FH4s 500 GTXL cabs 2015 - 2018 trucks also very good. The noise that the truck made when you started it up is that there is low air pressure in the tanks, also if the truck has or has had a PTO system on it. DO NOT BUY IT! The night heater only blows warm air from under the passenger seat on the FH13s versions. You need to expect to change all 6 shock absorbers on the cab. But overall its one of the most reliable trucks on the roads, so you shouldn't worry too much about it. Make sure the oil has being changed regularly and also check the coolant if it has any oil in it. Also the fuel again check if there is any oil in it. Check the pipes for any leaks and pretty much that's it. It's sounded good on the video.
Great video of you both doing your stuff, glad you walked away very wise and it was your first one so better to take your time and buy the right one,I just went on truck locator and they had quite a few between £10k and £19k in Stoke on trent but I'm sure you have looked at every website, look forward to see what you end up with, take care guys, cheers
Great video guys, there is better trucks out there even for the amount that you have offered to them. And I think you forgot to double check whether mileage is genuine also it’s better to check out how injectors working as they are expensive to change
I lena hope you and Michael are well. Bad news about your red truck. What about rental purchase on a new one.if you can look for some top contacts it should pay for it's self in no time. Like Asda's Tesco's and other big companies. Philip hope's you find the right one for you in the end. Thanks for the mention lena. Philip.
Lena thanks for getting in touch. You will have to get your Michael to blow the dust off is suit and search for some awesome contracts. Take care I hope you succeed in your adventure phil.
Raised floor isn't ideal but as it's only a small hump it does have a major advantage. Any dirt from your boots remains in the driver's footwell and the hump prevents it going all over the cab floor
I know your hubby dismissed the Iveco but a few months back truck and driver had an article about secondhand Iveco and they reckoned there were some great starter truck deals out there on Stralliss and recommend it as a low cost option to get through the first 2-3 years
So why do fleets buy them as the article I refer to says good motor to get you through first 2-3 years as there are some great deals on low mileage ones around They have reliable engines admittedly they aren't as flash as Scanias and Volvos but they go wrong as well and boy do they cost for spares. I was just saying worth having a look at
@@jamesross3902 fleets buy them due to low cost however, they have a warranty and service plan, i don't know what iveco call them but its like Daf Aid, most big companies get rid of trucks after 3 years due to this. I'm not gonna argue, iveco's are ok to drive they are strong but i would never buy one with my own money, especially second hand. Also just to add i love the new Iveco S-way, but i still wouldn't buy one
You may find you may get a decent specced DAF XF in a lot better condition for the same price. It you only need Euro5 then a later XF105 460 and it pulls like a train. Early Euro 6 models maybe a shout but the 510 it would have to be as the 460 is gutless. Wiring looms should be inspected however on a DAF and for the E6, be aware of ECU faults as if that goes, it's a a few months wait for a new one. Good luck with your search. Your hubby sure knows his stuff.
Hi Lena, loved the video, pity fh was dire, no to Mercedes, no to Iveco, have you thought Scania, or a very big MAN, underrated but capable, stays safe both of you, good luck finding the one.
Have you thought about the emissions of this truck being 2013 i would guess it is a Euro 4 poss 5?Surely as time goes on it is going to get harder to get into city centres. If you have not got a Euro 6 i think you have to pay £300 a day if you go into the London emission zone.Just a thought.
Lena should you not be looking at buying something EURO6 with all these new low emmission zones coming into place ?.I think you did right thing leaving that Volve where it is,dont think its in the best condition, hope you find adecent truck soon.
Thank you so much Harry, yes euro6 would b best but it only means we can’t go London and Birmingham, with first truck we’ll be ok skirting around till we earn more money for second one 🙈
Lana & Michael Love your channel Anyway First I Change ,means Intelligent gear change so auto A mate of mine bought on of the first 620 Horsepower I change Fh here in Australia Heavy haulage gave a bit of trouble in the beginning, went ok he still has it Lena buy a truck that you can earn money with straight away I made that mistake Remember your a truck operator not a truck repairer also Best Buy close to home and. Sometimes buy private, as lots of people Will take a loss to get out Lena love’s trucking
The wide angle mirror is missing from the kerb side. I drive a 13 plate Volvo FH 750 but its the new style. Absolutely love it , fav truck. Look into the new style 2013/14 plates maybe. Can get them well priced with a bit of miles.
The problem with law exports they tend to ship them overseas so some there trucks aren't as up to standard but definitely liked the way your husband pointed out all the faults to them that's one way of getting them to drop the price but we'll impressed with how you both inspected the truck I'm amazed by the defects they want so.much for it shocking obviously
long time no see Lena i am looking for new work just now see. 2 jobs may be 1 fuel tanker 2nd 1 ah skips./bins. 45,000 euros a year in south Ireland 😁😁😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 stay well. both rigid class c .
Hi Lena Just found your video's And found this realy interesting being allowed to hear your thoughts on the Truck and all I can think is with so many small faults on it ,How well was it serviced re breaks yes locked on as got hot boiled fluid (so now spoilt seals on calipers boiled /are they shot have discs warped what else All I can say is Keep looking , Keep safe &Keep em posted &Good luck.
That Volvo has been lying up for a long time when it has all them faults mileage could be low on it for a reason broke down a lot.try A&M commercials in Warrington they have a big selection of units
On the surface it looks a tidy truck, it will have a few bits that need looking at but it’s normal for the age. nothing That won’t be able to get sorted.
drove a volvo rigid 8 wheeler tipper I SHIFT with eco -roll after 4 years electric relays played up . THE ONE CONTROLLING THE GEARSHIFT used to overheat & suddenly leave you with no drive . Had to emergency phone volvo & they advised me to pull dash panel out ( near place mat) & swop a couple of relays . ( you could tell the offending one it burnt your fingers. IT EVEN HAPPENED WHEN I DREW AWAY FROM A PAVER & I HAD ANGRY TARMAC GANG THREATENING TO CHAIN PULL ME AWAY
i wish you all the best in your new venture but i think i would carry on driving for other people and let them have all the problems of running a business, it's not all milk and honey belive me it takes over your whole life and rewards if they come take years.
Lena on no account do you get in the back of container health & safety are very hot on that one your not insured in them ,there are not any safety rails or steps to climb up safely .
Have you spoken wuth Volvo to see if they could help you with some Sponsorship? As you know by now, Volvo themselves have an extensive Second-Hand Dealer Network. Don't jump, take your time.
The best place to buy a used vehicle from the end user , Not from Any Dealers as they add 10k on the true price, Shame i did not know you were looking as we have sold at 2014 DAF ssc 510 ftp euro 6 with 12 mth mot for 15k
@@LenaTrucker Hi Lena, Sorry we are 100% DAF as we have found them to be the best vehicles to operate But we do go over the top with servicing two full services a year / inspections every 5 weeks / change brake pads every year ? yes they would last 3 yrs, We have a 65 plt comeing up to 1.5 m on the clock it had a clutch at 1m , on the original discs and running gear, engine has had a water pump and pulleys,

Thank you so much Harry, yes euro6 would b best but it only means we can’t go London and Birmingham, with first truck we’ll be ok skirting around till we earn more money for second one 🙈
@@LenaTrucker Hope you find the Truck of your dreams soon, best of luck.
Ooh great advice there thank you so much :)) thank you for watching
The wide angle mirror is missing from the kerb side. I drive a 13 plate Volvo FH 750 but its the new style. Absolutely love it , fav truck. Look into the new style 2013/14 plates maybe. Can get them well priced with a bit of miles.
Will do thank you 😄
Truck Seeking Is A Nightmare Great Video Lena

Thank you David :)
Just a pity there was so much wrong with that fh 500 it's a nice truck
Getting a new car is exciting, getting a truck is the next level.
Are you bringing it to Peterborough truck fest ?
Yes 🤩👍🏻 but not this one- was no good 🤣🤣
Ok not watched all the video only a quarter will watch rest later
The problem with law exports they tend to ship them overseas so some there trucks aren't as up to standard but definitely liked the way your husband pointed out all the faults to them that's one way of getting them to drop the price but we'll impressed with how you both inspected the truck I'm amazed by the defects they want so.much for it shocking obviously
🙈 yes very true Peter
It’s got to be a Volvo, your husband understands them. 😍👍
Yeah gotta be
Hey me and my boys love your videos and have you been on a&m commercials as they have some Volvo's and mercedes aswell and happy hunting
Thank you Craig yea we had a look through there too. Thank you for watching
You can claim the vat back anytime within 5 years of purchasing as long as you still own the truck assuming you become vat registered 👍
Oh yes we will be doing that thank you

That Red Volvo was an old SNT Transport from Scotland
Aaah
n200 snt.
He's a handy guy to know!
Definitely
Really enjoyable video
Thank you Scott 😄
Your videos are always very interesting 😁❤
Thank you Mariya 🤩
That Volvo has been lying up for a long time when it has all them faults mileage could be low on it for a reason broke down a lot.try A&M commercials in Warrington they have a big selection of units
Yeah true. Thank you Gary, for all your support over years 😁
that wagon belonged to stuart nicol transport from shotts scotland. i remember it well.
Ooh thank you Paul, you worked there? Hope you kno my next one too - watch this Friday 6pm please
On the surface it looks a tidy truck, it will have a few bits that need looking at but it’s normal for the age. nothing That won’t be able to get sorted.
Very true just needs money spending on it is all
drove a volvo rigid 8 wheeler tipper I SHIFT with eco -roll after 4 years electric relays played up .
Oh noooo. Did u manage to fix it?
i wish you all the best in your new venture but i think i would carry on driving for other people and let them have all the problems of running a business, it's not all milk and honey belive me it takes over your whole life and rewards if they come take years.
Well said Keith thank you. I’ll give it a good go, I don’t mind years 🙈👍🏻
Congratulations on getting your O licence how much was it to get also was the process very long.
Yes over half a year - not an easy task…
@@LenaTrucker main goal is you got it now your the boss how does it feel, did you manage to buy a truck
Volvos are great trucks. However, in America. they are SO expensive to repair!
Oh really 🙈
Try cpr commercials at Gainsborough
👍🏻thank you!!
Try the one in kislington near Northampton.
Ooh thank you
Sorry Lena, they only do Renaults as I thought they did abit of everything. It's not kislington it's Kislingbury.
Hi Lena ,I have been waiting to hear from you,if you have got your new lorry.. Nice
😁
Lena on no account do you get in the back of container health & safety are very hot on that one your not insured in them ,there are not any safety rails or steps to climb up safely .
For sure, thank you ✌🏻
I love your channel Lena XD
Thank you so much nick ;);)
I always thought a tag axle was a better option over mid lift axle🤔
Only if you going into tight places 😜
Lena try sotrex in Nantwich Cheshire or A&m commercials in Warrington they've got lots an of decent ones for sale
Thank you will do
Hello there madam . Much love to you.
👍🏻
Really enjoyable video awesome ❤️
Thank you so much Daniel
@@LenaTrucker you are more than welcome awesome videos
Funny Michael how is arrangeing his hair hahahahahaha
😁🙈
Have you spoken wuth Volvo to see if they could help you with some Sponsorship?
As you know by now, Volvo themselves have an extensive Second-Hand Dealer Network.
Don't jump, take your time.
Thank you Noel great advice
Nothing wrong with an older truck less things to go wrong :D
☺️ well less electrical problems for sure 😉
The best place to buy a used vehicle from the end user , Not from Any Dealers as they add 10k on the true price, Shame i did not know you were looking as we have sold at 2014 DAF ssc 510 ftp euro 6 with 12 mth mot for 15k
Yes that’s pretty good price, daf though 🙈 do you have any Volvos for my next one 😄
@@LenaTrucker Hi Lena, Sorry we are 100% DAF as we have found them to be the best vehicles to operate But we do go over the top with servicing two full services a year / inspections every 5 weeks / change brake pads every year ? yes they would last 3 yrs, We have a 65 plt comeing up to 1.5 m on the clock it had a clutch at 1m , on the original discs and running gear, engine has had a water pump and pulleys,
that truck is worth maximum £6000
Problem is there’s 2 year wait for new trucks so second hand ones are mahoosively inflated
hi ya and all you nead now is a private number plate two
🙈 got one 😇
