I know this is a few years old. But I hope you’ve ditched that fuelpack and went to a Dynojet using a non canned map? Big difference when you have the actual tune for all the specific work you’ve done with the bike.
Oh yeah. Was probably like a month or so after that I went with DynoJet. Was a big difference on my bottom end and I just couldn’t dial in the V&H FP3. I’ve put about 20k miles on those cams and DynoJet now.
Dern o-rings anyhow, I had a hunch at the beginning of the video that it was o-rings. Glad you got it fixed!! Your mod on the pipes reminds me of what the D&D Fat Cat 2 into 1 sounded like on the Twin Cams. Sounds amazing!!!
That's the part I was nervous about too but after watching a few videos especially on the cam install from J&P cycles it helped a lot. To be honest I spun that rear tire so many times looking at the movement of the pushrods going up and down and putting my fingers down the area where they came up from that now I could probably do it with my eyes closed only going by feel. Just go step by step, understand the timing before cutting the pushrods and mind all torque values. If it takes a you month to do then so be it. Great video Paul. Question: did the S&S 475 cam give you a very noticeable difference in HP & torque as well? PS That Amazon link above goes nowhere. Thx
Hey Tom since the M8 is already a great platform for power from the dealer the horsepower to me was a smaller increase compared to the torque gain in the mid to upper power band. I feel this cam really shines in the 3900-4300 rpm range and just keeps pulling. If you’re looking for more torque in the lower band then the 465 will do that. Horsepower on these bikes is already there so IMO working on the torque is where it’s at. Hope this helps and thanks I’ll look into fixing that link. Deuces ✌🏼
I also have the FP3 tuner. So did you just go into the tuner and add the cam to your setup, and redo the auto tune with the blocks all over again, or did the tuner just correct the settings automatically?? Bike sounds great! Thanks for doing this! Think I'm sold on 475c
Thank you. I believe it’s the chopped. It’s my daily but I also have a king when traveling two up. I’ve always liked having a tour pak. I’ve also had a razor but the last one I had cracked so I ended up going chopped on the second because it would hold a little more of my camera gear.
That is Bad ass, sounds like a serious pulling bike. I have a 2016 RGS getting ready for cams. Where did you get those lights on your fairing?? I like those.

@@PaulOnTheRun thank yo for the reply. Did you have you bike Dynoed or just use the FP3? Did you install all those lights yourself? Was is easy? Thanks again man great thing about this I get a lot a good ideas from some great looking bikes..
I appreciate the sound comparisons and not sure you have another video on the 465C S&S cam, but I am wondering about gas mileage? Touring with weight? High RPMs in 6th gear at 80 MPH?
hey Paul, What Flash tune did you use? ive done the S&S 475G Torque but cant get a really good tune out of the SE pro street tuner on my 114 heritage.its about 90% right.
So...short answer Yes. Long Answer, I didn't go with an aftermarket headpipe so I don't think I'm getting the full potential of the cam. I will in the near future swap it out but I've really enjoyed the power gain I got from just doing the cam, hi-flow air intake, decatted head pipe and slip-ons. I did start with a V&H FP3 but converted to a Dynojet Powervision and that I feel in my opinion real woke up the cam. One thing I absolutely love and call me vain, but I love the way my bike sounds now. Everyone knows you did something to the bike when you turn it on and now it sounds a like an H-D should. Deuces ✌
Awesome I got full exhaust so I should be good thanks for the input my dealer wanted 1000 just labor I’m a car mechanic so I’m pretty confident I can do it still in my factory warranty but I’m less the bike really breaks down they don’t do anything any way rude safe 😄
LoL I heard that lope as soon as you stated it up brother 💯, now she sounds like a real Harley, hey I noticed that you was wearing a Bring it Home Parade T-shirt, I didn't know that you was there, my wife and I was there to, it was a great time, ok are you ready to do mine now lol, good work Paul 🤜🏼🤛🏼 💯
Yeah. I was at Bring It Home. I did a video on that too. I was sitting right next to gas truck and had a small tent to get out from the sun. Folks were using the truck to climb on and get a better view. I feel more confident installing these cams that’s for sure.
Those are the Bassani DNT with the catalytic removed from the stock head pipe. It sounds crazy mean! People really notice when that thing turns on!!! Deuces ✌🏼
Working my way through. starting here 'cause it was the first one you posted. I've been loving the M8 engine! I heard a cam really wakes it up. That so?
Oh yes. Especially when you pair it with the right tuner. In my case I started with a FP3 but then moved to a Dynojet Powervision preloaded with a map from Fuel Moto.
Totally different sound and lope. Nice. After installing the stock tune, have you done an auto-tune or had V&H send you a custom tune? What about seat-of-the-pants torque? Are you noticing a big difference? I know I was nervous the first time I started my bike after doing cams. I could see you were, too. All and all, great job and great videos, Paul.
At first I loaded a tune from the FP3 app but then needed some help from V&H on a custom map because I was getting some surging on first gear. I did do some auto tuning but I have a follow up video talking about some things I changed. As far as power goes. I do feel a noticeable difference. Especially in the mid range. Best way I can explain is when before you would twist the throttle to speed up and while it did it fast you moved with the bike. Now it feels like the bike is pulling you into those higher speeds and obviously getting you there faster thanks ✌️.
The cam kit was $1396 which came with the cam, cam plate, new cam bearing, tappets, tappet cuffs, quickee pushrods. I purchased the air cleaner for around $400, I already had the FP3 but purchased it for $3xx but then bought a Power Vision $400. I experimented with my bassani but ended up with some Supertrapp Fatshots for just shy of $600. Definitely not cheap but definitely not the most expensive. oh, I also had to purchase the cam bearing removal tool for about $130. Deuces ✌
At the time...insufficient knowledge. I had only seen a lot more videos on the 475C option and very little on the gear driven. I already ordered the C by the time I learned of the G, so I just decided to keep with the C and if I felt the need to upgrade to the G, it is an easy upgrade. Also the tolerances are a little more forgiving. Thanks for watching Johnny CEE. Deuces ✌🏼
Yes. If you’re going the bolt cutter route, you’ll need a bolt cutter to get the existing pushrods out. If you are going to disassemble the rocker tops then no need. You’ll need a inner cam bearing puller/installer and you’ll need an engine cam chain wedge. Be sure to get the one that specifically fits the M8. Torque wrenches are super important and mind whether it needs ft lbs or inch lbs.
@@PaulOnTheRun I have the 103cu inch but I’m sure the process is similar if not the same but thanks for the tips. Looking forward to the Iron Butt Adventure... Ride safe! ✌🏾
@@Teddy_B_Ridn Your 103 is a twin cam so you’ll have two cams to adjust for the proper timing but just take it step by step. Let me know if you have any questions. Deuces ✌🏼

Thanks Chris. It is!!! Haha. I was watching a video and I thought to myself ¨That damn tri-bar sure is bouncing around a lot”. Well I have a trailer hitch mounted and it’s pretty hard to get to but I think I have a bolt that is gone that keeps it from vibrating so much. I need to remove my rear tire to get my hand in there though. Deuces ✌️
@@PaulOnTheRun gotcha. Just know that I have huge hands and was still able to take my rear light assembly off by getting my hand between the tire and fender. I had a little blister from the rubbing (it was a tight fit), but it's totally doable. Give it a shot, you may be surprised!
How did you block off the left pipe ? And did you notice any restriction in flow ? I like the sound of the mod better, but want to leave the left pipe on for looks. Can you please give me some insight on this ? I have a 19 SGS.
Can you list the parts you purchased for this cam Intall? I’m like you, I’m no Harley tech but I’ve saved thousands doing it myself. I have ordered the s&s 475 cam , gasket kit. I know I’ll need variable pushrods, what else will I need? I’m going to skip the cam chest , new oil pump etc. Thanks in advance!
Other than that I believe you’ll be good. I ordered the whole kit that included everything: cam plate, oil pump, upgraded tappet cuffs, quickee pushrods, cam cover gasket, upgraded tappets and that kit came with new bolts where it needed it. Don’t forget to add oil back when you open the cam chest. I also did a video where I swapped from the V&H FP3 to a Dynojet Power Vision. Let me know if you have any other questions.
@@PaulOnTheRun ok thanks. I also have both tuners! The FP3 and the power vision unit itself. Which works best in your opinion? I had the FP3 first on my old bike 2014 SGS then switched to PV. I actually thought the bike performed better with the FP3.
@@WTDOOR63 before the cam the bike ran great with just a stage 1. Once again put the cams and dropped the new map for it, it took some tuning and I got it running good. After reading that it was lacking power I gave the power vision a shot and wow!!! It really woke up that cam. I honestly could not believe it but glad it was real.
Great video, glad it had it a happy ending. Sounds killer! My brother runs a FP3 And I run a power vision with wideband O2 sensors and autotune module, I would imagine you are going to take your build further have you considered switching tuners since you like to do work yourself? I read down a few comments and this is the only video of yours I have seen so maybe you have talked about it already but I was just curious if you're going to tinker around in tuning software I believe you have the drive to do it. I liked the video and subscribed bro 👍
I am considering it actually but I got to spend a little coin on a few other things first for the bike but it’s high on my list. So far it’s running pretty good but now I need some suspension upgrades. Thanks for watching and subscribing. Deuces ✌️
On that video I was running stock headers decatted with Bassani DNT’s. While it sounded great I had to make Some adjustments and ended up going back to a intact cat for better performance and now I run Supertrapp Fatahots.
Bro I know this is an old clip, just had to get back and grab some feedback on the 475’s… different exhaust to run with it, and which head pipe… I always ran V&H…. Buddies are going with Rinehardt….. but curious about your Texas neighbor, D&D Exhaust who did Sandavol RG.
I like it! If you plan on doing it yourself it's a fairly easy install. The most important part is just following each step carefully and use the loctite and proper torque values. So far I got about 2000 miles since installed and the bike is feeling is pretty good. It's definitely happy in that mid 3K rpm range.
as far as hours goes, it probably took me about 5-6 hours give or take but I wasn't really counting but there is a lot of time spent just removing the pipes, floorboard, air intake, lower fairing. The cam itself I feel went in pretty fast once I figured out the timing. Deuces ✌
I do like it. It’s definitely on the louder side but I’ll soon have a fix for that. At the present moment I have not dyno tuned it yet. I did work closely with a guy from Vance & Hines on a proper map and ever since I dropped that in it’s been running very smooth. I’m sure with a proper tune I can squeeze out a bit more juice but quite frankly it’s pretty good. Deuces ✌️
Not at the moment because I was having issues getting the FP3 to tune that setup properly but now that I have the Dynojet powervision I’m going to reinstall the decatted head pipe and run the block off on the crossover. I’ll. Have fuel moto send me the appropriate maps for that.
@@PaulOnTheRun i am considering it, i have an extra header so im thinking of welding it up. the pipe in side might help with a little back pressure with a 4.5 in muffler though. and have stuff coming from fuel moto including the tuning baffles for my exhaust. it looks like i'm might be your "neighborhood" PM if you want. im between belton and georgtown

The S&S push rod adjustment threads are 32 tpi. You will want 0.100" preload on the lifters meaning you will turn the adjuster another 3.2 turns past zero-lash. 32 x .100 = 3.2 turns.
What do you mean by prime? Do you mean bleed down or cycle thru the intake/exhaust timing? If so, yes. I’ve put about 11k miles since the install and everything has run like it should which I’m grateful for.

Its a great video!
@@PaulOnTheRun we was at the back row by the Lawtigers set up and we seen people climbing all over that truck to, so do you guys live in Texas ?
@@texasmotorcyclerideradventures I'll go check it out 💯👍🏼
@@OZARKSHDRIDERS Yes sir. Just outside of Houston.
What kind exhaust do you have on that bike sounded good with those cams
Those are the Bassani DNT with the catalytic removed from the stock head pipe. It sounds crazy mean! People really notice when that thing turns on!!! Deuces ✌🏼
What bars are you running in your road glide! Killer sound from that bike too!
Hey Jason, those are the 13” Standard Apes from Road 6 Customs. They have the on sale right now!! Deuces ✌🏼
God job man.
Amazing sound...
It is a pretty significant change from stock and from a lot of other cams too. I’m loving it. Deuces ✌🏼
@@PaulOnTheRun no doubt about it...! Kind regards!
Guy looks like Jon Bernthals brother lol
Nice video man!!
Too funny. I get that often.
@@PaulOnTheRun I have the PV on my Springer currently. I'll buy the new license from FM for my SG when I get to that point.
That thing sound mean!😎
It sure does. I really wish these external mics would do justice to how it really sounds but this at least gives us an idea.
Badass.
Great job sounds perfect 👌
What was the cost of your build?
Your video and editing is great all around great job
The cam kit was $1396 which came with the cam, cam plate, new cam bearing, tappets, tappet cuffs, quickee pushrods. I purchased the air cleaner for around $400, I already had the FP3 but purchased it for $3xx but then bought a Power Vision $400. I experimented with my bassani but ended up with some Supertrapp Fatshots for just shy of $600. Definitely not cheap but definitely not the most expensive. oh, I also had to purchase the cam bearing removal tool for about $130. Deuces ✌
Orale get down Homie sounds good, what made you go with chain vs Gear drive? Thanks for video, wat up from the 818SFV..
Deuces ✌🏼
Good morning,i want abike soon street glide or road glide, good job,.
Sounds great... Thinking about doing this myself on my 14SG, did u need any special tools?
If you don’t have a tuner already I recommend the Power Vision tuned by Fuel Moto. I have a video talking about the difference between an FP3 and the Power Vision. Let me know if you have any questions. Deuces ✌🏼
@@PaulOnTheRun I’m running the fp3 with full Vance and Hines headers and exhaust
@@Teddy_B_Ridn definitely check this vid out. I started with FP3 and had to change. However we do have different bikes so give the FP3 a shot first then if that doesn’t work. PV. ruclips.net/video/d9zuodAtsOE/видео.html
Good job man! Sorry if someone else already pointed it out, but your tri-bar looks loose.
What's that exhaust set up. It's nice
Your chingon!
Dope!
Great, there goes my DIY confidence ...
You can do it!!!
Hey Paul, you mind telling me how you got the inner cam bearing out & re installed the new one?
Dennis, thanks for the comment. I purchased the cam bearing puller tool from amazon and it worked great to get it out and place the new one.
Sounds good...for a Harley! ;-) (MR VTX here!)
Admit it. It got you jonesing!! I’m loving the exhaust sound. Especially at a cold start up!!
@@PaulOnTheRun Oh yeah, nothing like a proper cam setup...sounds mean.
Deuces ✌️
Great video love the do it yourself projects a lot more enjoyable that way sounds nasty
what exhaust / head pipe you running ?
On that video I was running stock headers decatted with Bassani DNT’s. While it sounded great I had to make
Some adjustments and ended up going back to a intact cat for better performance and now I run Supertrapp Fatahots.
sound nice, and nice bike all black 👍
Thank you. Appreciate that.
I hear he does a great job but it’s gonna be hella loud with a mean growl.
MAN, IM THINKING OF DROPPING THE SAME CAM IN MY 107 RGS! HOW MANY HOURS YOU RECKON IT TOKK YOU TO DO THE CAM?
Deuces ✌
How do you like the 475c cam, did u dyno it?
I do like it. It’s definitely on the louder side but I’ll soon have a fix for that. At the present moment I have not dyno tuned it yet. I did work closely with a guy from Vance & Hines on a proper map and ever since I dropped that in it’s been running very smooth. I’m sure with a proper tune I can squeeze out a bit more juice but quite frankly it’s pretty good. Deuces ✌️
are you still running your 2-1 mod?
@@j.7937 awesome. I too have an extra header already decatted that I’m playing with or have and will be again. I’ll hit you up. I’m just outside of Houston though.
@@PaulOnTheRun i see that khrome werks has a block off plug and a slip on (4.5 in) that they sell, so seams to me that is should work well, i have a full moto tune coming for there 2-1 and ill auto tune it abit. i got their exhaust inserts for tuning. i made a block off plug similar to the khrome werks. well see how it works stock and then with the cam
So what 2 into 1 pipe is that that you are running ??🤔🤔🤔
It’s actually the stock head pipe decatted and I came up with a way to block the crossover essentially making it a 2 into 1.
@@PaulOnTheRun Hey Paul much appreciated ❗️I’m on RUclips Ahorita they’re trying to sell me the stage 4 kit 6 G’s. Brought my bitch home Wednesday. I’m doing stage “3” look at the numbers. Have a good evening sir 😉🤘🏻

He'll yeah
The S&S push rod adjustment threads are 32 tpi. You will want 0.100" preload on the lifters meaning you will turn the adjuster another 3.2 turns past zero-lash. 32 x .100 = 3.2 turns.
What type of exhaust you running .
Did you prime the lifters before installing?
What do you mean by prime? Do you mean bleed down or cycle thru the intake/exhaust timing? If so, yes. I’ve put about 11k miles since the install and everything has run like it should which I’m grateful for.
@@PaulOnTheRun I meant bleed the lifters. There’s a video of an install where they let the lifters sit in oil overnight before installing them
@@carlosvalle5104 Yes. I bled the lifters. Fairly easy process.
@@PaulOnTheRuncool. Thanks for the info. Awesome video btw!
@@PaulOnTheRun last question. Did you use a oil can or let them sit overnight?
