So for “rolling stone” this was directed towards his fans with lyrics mentioning how he hopes he’s not different but he hopes if he does that we would still listen to him. and along with the music video he dropped for it he dropped a letter to his fans explain the idea behind the video.
The Trilogy in general is just such a masterpiece. There are very few tracks I wouldn’t class as exceptional on it and I equally love how each mixtape has its own style and character, which is especially noticeable when listening to the whole trilogy. With the very drug fuelled sound of HOB, the slightly brighter and more rock influenced Thursday where he mostly centres around women, and the very soulful sounding EOS, it comes together to form one of the biggest masterpieces in music. I love all of Abel’s work but I don’t think he could ever replicate this, and honestly I don’t really want him to as I’m glad we get to hear new sounds from him with every project, and equally every new project he brings out is very much a testimony to how his life is at that current point. The Weeknd will go down as one of the greatest of all time, if he hasn’t already.
