Incredible part! I clearly remember recording these demos in Hayward all in a single Saturday afternoon. That Boogie MkIIc of yours. Les brought a 12 pack of Miller highlife! Band was crackin'.
This has to be my favorite guitar riff of all time! It's got a funky surf feel to it. I dont know how you wrote something like that, it's so unique. Man this video is amazing, I love Primus! The OG Primate guitarist Todd Huth showing us this is extremely amazing and I feel blessed
I'm so happy I found this! Huth's guitar playing always seems so different to any other guitarist and I can never figure out how he's doing what he does. It's like God handed him a secret set of scales that us regular folk don't know about! So seeing this was like watching someone explain a magic trick.
Riddles are Abound Tonight, is like my favorite Primus/Les Claypool related album ever, I'd like to see you talk about some of the guitar stuff on that album cause it's mindblowing shit man, big fan.
I wish there was a "see more of this" here on youtube I'm here again after a year and learning a little bass, my buddy knows guitar and is learning with some other Primus songs too, I seriously can't get enough of this older recording of John the Fisherman you're using
Wow, so amazing to see it broken down like that. Les Claypool once gave a private lesson to my cousin's friend in Vermont 20 years ago, as a surprise birthday present from his dad who knew Les.
Thank you Todd! Love your use of diminished stuff, and interesting that Larry uses the same tonality a lot..perhaps it rubbed off on him when he learned all your parts?
huge, HUGE fan... if you have access to any old Primus recordings from the Primate/early Primus era i am very sure that anyone who is as massive a primus fan as i am would absolutely kill to hear it... thank you for this video too, actually helped me learn the song!!
Yeah they need to get a panel together. Here Les talk about his earlier band blind illusion and sausage, Ler talk about being in possessed, Todd and Jay about primate and so on. I definitely would watch
Never was and never will be anything like Primus...everyone who's ever played a part in that band are incredibly talented musicians & song writers. Love Larry, but I honestly never realized for a LONG time that a lot of the early stuff wasn't even written by him. I'd say Larry does a great job playing with his own style, while still staying true to how Todd originally wrote this stuff.
I’ve played guitar for over 30 years, and your sound and style has been one of my biggest influences. Just beautifully unique stuff. Thanks for the contribution to original and brilliant music.
Thank you so much for posting this! You’re a legend for your contributions to Primus. If you ever feel compelled to explain how the heck you played “Here’s to the Man” on the Sausage record, I’m sure a lot of people would be interested to see it!
Please show us what is going on with the guitar in Riddles are Abound Tonight! It is going to haunt me forever! It would also be really cool to see shattering song.
This is great. I was in a couple bands,in SF that opened for you in Primus... and later playing drums in Gift Horse, opening for Porch... It’s would be amazing to see you show how to play some Porch songs,as well.
The legend himself made a RUclips video haha that’s crazy! Is there anyway you could talk about the theory behind the guitar playing for primus? Also anything from riddles are abound tonight would be amazing.
Please tour SAUSAGE OR WHY ISN’T Primus bringing you on as a second guitar player. Alongside larry and you I couldn’t imagine the insane stuff would come out. LOL MOST OF THE RIFFS ARE YOURS ANYWAYS your guitar playing is underrated and I look for old videos with you playing I have to say prefer your style to LARRY. Love you man hope all is well would love to see a solo project.
Todd wrote the parts to a lot of Primus songs on but he didn't play on them, Larry LaLonde did. He used a lot of different pedals, amps, and guitars but on this song he used an HSS Strat into a Marshall JCM 800.
this is a really easy opportunity to start training your ear i don’t learn by ear, but it’s not hard to eyeball where his fingers are and get the note right.
@@EyesHaveMiles420 In their own way, sure I just find too much discord in Lalonde’s playing. People like Guthrie Govan use it sparingly for a great effect. I still like him as an integral part of primus, though I wasn’t aware of Hugh early on.

I’m surprised to see the OG guitar player from Primus teaching people how to play this song!
Yeah, the dude who actually wrote the damned thing. :)
Such a treat!
Im just surprised the algorithm brought him to me.
This band has been blessed with nothing but extremely talented musicians.
The internet was invented to upload this video to it.
This is the best thing I've found on RUclips
Yo thanks for making primus such a big influence todd seriously thank you
Hell yeah

Very clever and creative parts. Thank you for that.
The opening to that song is always amazing and never gets old.
This is so awesome to get to see you break it down and play through!!! I wish more greats would do this!!!
So good. Thank you🙏
Such a Gentleman. A true giver.
I still listen to Sausage on the regular. All hail the Seminiphrious tubloidial buttnoids

todd huth really is the raddest sounding guitarist, everything on suck on this and frizzle fry is just flat out RADDDDD
Todd Huth is a good guitarist but he didn't play on Suck on This or Frizzle Fry.
@@wompus6570 yeah but he wrote the parts
Could you please show us how did you play that tasty lick over the original version of "Is It Luck?"
Man! This guitar part is sweet. Time to put my bass down and grab my neglected Strat.

The power of Todd Time!
This is so cool. I'd love to see a similar tutorial for Riddles Are Abound Tonight.

Holy shit it's Todd Huth! What's up man! Glad to subscribe!
This is so cool, thank you so much. You are a legend. Did you actually teach Larry how to play the songs? I'm guessing it was a very friendly split. 😀
I did sit down and teach him the tunes I wrote.

Like what kind of effects were used on Here's to the Man for instance.
was this demo ever officially released/sold? I have a copy of it and pudding time but it's a dub
I can send a link to it if you don't have the full original?
My favorite lineup: you, Lane, Les. That's the Primus I love
Primus is one of the few bands that I love every line up from. They’re all awesome on their own.
