Hi 👋🏼 I made it just now and I used 4 mm cord and 100” inches folded in half . It was enough to make the pattern twice ( Diamond ) and fit a bigger wider pot than hers ❤️ HAPPY CRAFTING!!
For anyone else concerned about the speed of the video, click on settings and change the playback speed to 0.5 or less. That should help to observe how they are doing the knots in action. I agree that it would have been better if the speed was slowed down to demonstrate the first knots and THEN sped up afterwards (like in most proper videos).
For everyone asking, you need 6 cords measured out to about 5 meters/16 feet. It's in the blog post in the description and comments section. If you can read you can succeed.
Fair warning, this tutorial calls for 6 ropes cut at 5m length. Their finished product has 2 diamonds. I was making mine, and realized I still had a TON of rope. I threw in a 3rd diamond to try to use some up. Even after adding the extra diamond, I still cut off probably around 2 feet of excess rope after giving it a tassel. I can't really afford to buy rope often, so for me wasting this much rope is ridiculous. I do save the pieces to use for gathering knots on other macrame projects, but just thought I'd warn everyone. If you plan on doing 2 diamonds like the video shows, you DO NOT NEED 5m OF ROPE!!
I ended up using just 3.5 meters for 4mm cord, made 5 diamonds and still have perfect length at the bottom. Mine diamonds are rather wide than long like the video, I even added one more roll of square knot for better securing. Definitely don’t need 5 meters for each cord!
what kind of knot do you do with the two middle cords that are left at the bottom end of the diamond shape, before you start the top of the next diamond? Do you just make a regular knot and start the process over again, or some kind of special macrame knot?
Also, when you are restarting the second half of the diamond (after making a square knot in the middle), do you do the same diagonal double half stitch with the two outer threads, or something different? It was hard to see in the video
When I was trying this my knots were on the front side for the left side of the first "V" and backside for the right side of the first "V". It doesn't look right and doesn't line up properly. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
It sounds like you've knotted the wrong way around. For the first knots, you'll need a diagonal double half hitch. Please take a look here for a more detailed explanation: www.joandjudy.com/en/the-macrame-plant-hanger//diy

This is NOT for beginners. I’ve tried and tried and after watching other videos on how to tie the knots I’m still having a rough time. I even clicked on the link in the description and it didn’t help much at all. So, take it from me, if you’re just starting out, this isn’t the one to try.
Je bien aimée le modele et jái soufert pour essayer de le faire ,mais je ne pas reussi le noeud au millieux de la figure ,jái essaie le double point ,le noud carre et ja ne suis pas arriver,si possible dit moi, comme il est fait ????
Yeah I found it really frustrating as I couldn't see which why you where going (which why to tie the knots). Really put me off. Maybe if you'd gone slower or said which why to go many of us wouldn't of had such a hard time with it. Beautiful work, shame beginners didn't get supported.
HI, WOULD LIKE TO MAKE THIS PLANT HANGER, I AM A BEGINNER AND YOU DO NOT SAY WHAT THE KENGTH IS FOR THIS PROJECT. WOULD YOU LET ME KNOW. THANK YOU, AKEMI
I'm no beginner but you can't claim this video is for beginners but not include rope lengths and slowed down examples of how to make the knots. Not at all how you make a tutorial.
This video is pretty, but awful. There is no way to tell whether the rope goes over or under the other rope because it's happening so fast. Plus, there's no audio describing what she is doing. This is about as helpful as just sitting beside a random person in a train station and watching them in order to learn. That would be fine if you could stop the stranger to say, "hey-was that one over under the left one or over under the right one?" I got through this by pausing and re-watching to try and tell what the hands are doing, but seriously: not a video for beginners. I feel sorry for any beginners who tried this and thought they sucked at this because the video says it's for beginners. Nope. It's not.
It would be helpful if you added how much length you need and what size cord you are using. Thank you!
nice
Exactly!

Had the same experience. I cut 6 cords of only 4m and created 5 diamonds with a 4mm cord and that was quite alright. Not too much rope wasted ;)
Sameee... I should have read your comment before hand lol
What was the size of your cord? I’m about to make this with 4mm, how long do you reckon I’d need for each cord? Thanks 😊

Why don't you supply cord lenghts and how many?
Lindo e simples!!!
No legnths of cords or anything like that? Nice 👍🏻
Love it and it super simple to make one, i've just recreated it on my ig stories😍😍😍
I'm knot understanding "Before the knotting can start, you need to shorten 6 strings to roundabout 5 m." Thanks Linda here
You need to cut 6 strings in total. Each of them should be about 5 m long. After you've prepared your macrame strings, the project can begin!
Eu amei parabéns
No lengths, no decent information.
Well... I thought the video was great! Good job and thank you!
Theres a pause/rewind button for everyone bitching about it being too fast.
Doesn't always help. Just saying it should not be labeled BEGINNER if that is not what it is intended for.
This is ok for someone who has a basic but not for beginners, very difficult to follow and would like to have measurements
How lon are the cords???

Obrigado 👍🙏

May I know the measurements of your cord?
They're in the blogpost, here: www.joandjudy.com/en/blog/detail/sCategory/43/blogArticle/23 :)
Is it 5m per string or a little over 16 feet per string?
As far as I can tell, 5m is just over 16 feet - so it's just same measurement in different measuring systems. :)
so just to be clear, we need 6 strings at approximately 16 feet long each?!?
Exactly, you need 6 strings of roundabout 5m each. :) You can find the detailed explanation here: www.joandjudy.com/en/the-macrame-plant-hanger//diy
I've tried it with string first and even 3.5 metres is still long

For beginners you should be telling them what you are doing and why, you should be more informative not just doing it with out explaining lilsis
Denise Kil I’m a beginner and I thought this video was great! Better than the ones who talk too much.
It doesn’t show how long the rope needs to be .. this would be my second time making a macrame project..

Not a beginner tutorial. Beginner tutorials tell you the type of cord used to the length you need and do it slowly and explain the knots
Too fast and not informative

Not helpful for beginners at all - would be nice if you told size, lengths, etc of the material/jute ect.
If you make a beginner video, you need to show and explain what knots to use. You zip right through no explanation
Nope, not for beginners....this video is to fast .
wish went slower
Here's a slower walk through of the half hitch that I used when I got lost in this one: ruclips.net/video/yXcl0LRNcMU/видео.html Hope that helps! :)
