This test was exactly what I needed. Thank you for this video I have two fourth gens in my living room and needed a little bit more bass, I will be getting the sub now because of this demo.
Glad it was helpful!
Perfect! Exactly the comparison video I was looking for :)
I don't think anyone else has done this!!
I would pick the Studio's over the echo's. The problem that you all are having and you don't know, is on your phone, you can set the sub and mid's and treble on your phone to control the sound coming from your studio's. That's why you all are getting to much bass with the Studio set up. Once you do your settings, there's no comparison between the studio's and echo's, studio's hands down.
I agree with you as studios have more watt output too. Only caveat is that if you prefer more directional sound, the echos are better for that. My home theater has 2 studios whereas my music system has 3 echos and a echo sub. For music directional sound seems to sound better for my ears.
2 not 3. 😉
@@ssshonnnwhich one do you prefer the studios or the echo + sub?
I’m so glad you did this video. I am literally setting mine up today and was wondering which way to go. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I came back just for this video ! hope it wont disappoint !
Loved the review mate. Down to earth and full of personality. Well done man
Man you helped me out alot with this comparison. Thanks for taking the time.
Great review! Infact absolutely all that lots of people want to know! Great combinations of review! Thanks a lot! I can now make my choice! 👍👍👍👍👍
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks
Thank you so much for sharing this. I am trying to setup my home cinema with 2 Echos 4th Gen now. In the future when I got more money I would introduce the echo sub for enhancement.
I had seen this one before, but now that I am going to make the purchase, it is very much appreciated. Coming from 2 Echos 2nd Gen, now going with 2 Echos 4th Gen and will get the sub soon (I hope). Cheers from Costa Rica!
Echo sub is of the most value..
Echo Plus,Echo 3rd Gen or 4th Gen will obviously be great when paired with Echo Sub ..
But it's definitely not apt for Echo Studios..
2 Echo Studios are enough to feel the 'Atmos'..
I always keep getting back to your comparison videos just to have a fresh feel about my Echo speakers.Kudos 🙌
Interesting comparison. I'm planning to get the second Studio and a woofer in the near future. Really enjoying the single speaker so far for listening to music.
Btw, hello from Luton mate 🤜🏻🤛🏻
I've just finished a video reviewing a set of 2.1 edifier speakers. I'm just editing it now so will be posted shortly. They are very good! I'll also be making another video soon comparing them to 2 echo studios. So maybe watch out for that before you make your decision?
Good comparison, agree with your feedback
Oh wow! Thank you so much for this video!!!!
I did this a similar test when I bought an Echo Studio thinking it was going to be great. I preferred my existing two Echo (2nd Gens) and the subwoofer setup (i was surprised) so I sent the Echo Studio back to Amazon.
I have 2 stuios + sub on my fire cube in my bedroom
@@lycanhd always good to have some vibrations at the sleeping room
Thanks, that was very helpful
Very good video, thank you very much, I agree with your decision, 2 echo 4 generation and the echo sub sound much better, very good comparison, thank you very much from mexico
This is the EXACT video comparison that I wanted. Thanks so much!
I have 2 echo studios and the echo sub for my home theatre and the sound is so awesome. So I have two more studios coming on Tuesday to put on my 2nd tv and that will also have a sub on it also
The echo gen 4's seemed more muffled with a dropout of sound midrange when compared to the alexa studios. Yes a little more base with the sub but not a world of difference. I would prefer a fuller range all through the mid range personally.
Thanks for the video.
I have an Echo Dot 4 and an Echo Studio. I was going to buy a second Studio but I think I'll go for another Dot 4. Or maybe connect my Dot 4 to my stereo by bluetooth and play them together in the room. Any advice?
Thanks!
Thank you!
3:41 100% agreed.... and half the price as well.
I have 2 echo dot connected with subwoofers and 4 echo dots connected. Sound is totally awesome!
How it only supports 2 devices at a time?
Great video and once again I agree with you the studios with the sub doesn't sound balanced at all. Great video
Thanks
greate job!!!!
Can the tv speakers be used in conjunction with the Alexa set up and fire tv?
You can hear more highs and mids with the studio setup
I appreciate the comparison test but it sure would’ve been nice to have some different music or at least a variety that included vocals.

Because the Echo sub does not have a separate volume control, one must use the equalizer in the Alexa app to find what setting will fit your need for the low end. Otherwise, you will have to crank up the volume of the Echo Dots to a very high level to get some decent bass out of the Echo sub. That's said, I am going to keep the Echo sub in a hope that Amazon will have an sofware update for a separate volume control for the Echo sub.
It had a seperate bass control back then, an update removed it
Have the 4th Gens been updated since this video. My single 4th gen sounds great, especially for vocals and rock music.
I love you for this video
The echo 4th gens with the sub win imo. The two studios and sub, I agree too much bass. 😆 Good comparison video you covered all the options nicely.
Is there no option anywhere to turn the bass down on the sub?
Test music sucks
I am reading in internet about Amazon Echo since 2 weeks, and I could not find any information about using them front and rear, to avoid buying a 5.1 home cinevam system.
Is there any way to make a test about it? Thanks a lot
I prefer the 2 Echo 4th Gens PLUS Subwoofer and it's cheaper so thanks for the vidéo !
Excellent video. Not sure about the song though. :D
does this setup work just connecting to my android or laptop ?
I'm going to pair two echo studios with the sub
Thanks for this. So the BEST setup is the two Echo Studios with the Sub or was that just too much, in your opinion? It felt like the two Echo Studios had too much treble to my ear.
I personally thought the sub was too much, especially for music. The studios have tone control on the app, so you can turn the treble down if they sound a bit bright.
it seems that the sub is applying a crossover to the studios because all harsh poppy sound in the 4th gens alone is filtered. not a bad little setup
To be honest the two studios to me sounded much better to the 4th gens sounded muddy with the sub. It's not about punch with bass it's about clarity. Purely a subjective thing plus the the fact that my purpose built stereo make all of these sound like mud and wasn't as expensive either so who knows.😁
I agree that even a moderately priced hi-fi system will knock these smart speakers out of the park. They're handy for listening to radio and turning on smart devices but when it comes to sounds, there are far better alternatives.
I mean I got my 4th gen echo for $64 Canadian there isn’t a better alternative at that price lol
What's your setup?
@@tristiangaming echo or echo dot
The 2 echo studio feels and sounds better . I’m watching this from my I phone 8 plus without any earphones . Hard to tell unless you got them .
I can’t found a way to add the echo sub in the Alexa app. Always got an error. Any help? Thanks!!
Hey, thanks for this excellent comparison video!
I have a question: I already own very good active high/midrange speakers and I recently got two Echo 4 speakers and found that they can output their signal over the 3.5mm jack. Now they question is, whether that still works when they are paired (as stereo pair or in 2.1-mode with the sub). Do they output a mono signal (one per echo or does one echo still output the stereo signal and in 2.1 mode: is there a frequency crossover built-in or something?)
My plan is to also get the sub but then I could use my better satellites instead of the echo 4s for the highs/mids.
Thanks!
2 echos will pair with the echo sub wirelessly. However, the echo sub will not work with any other speaker. Also, they do not work as a stereo pair when using the 3.5mm aux.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK thanks for the reply!
Amazon has sales every few months, last time I got 2 4th gen echos for $24 each. In room I have 2 dots, but going to get the sub next sale(think it was $59) will boost my TV sound. I would do the echo studios, but even on sale would be $300 usd. I bought a 75 inch TV and atmos setup. Moved and my new house has a built in for TV in corner, so no way to setup a atmos setup and have it be optimal, either I put above tv which defeats purpose of Atmos or under tv sticking out on some type shelf.
eye opening!
Hello I have 2 echo dots and an echo subwoofer. Can I use them 5:51 thru my cable system as a home theater 2:00pm
Hi there I hope you can help me I have 2 echo studio and a sub when connect to Firefox max I get a sign on the tv saying arc hdmi but the is no connection to TV even when switch back sky I am still het the arc sound for which I am not complaining just quizzed
2 Echo Studios are great... 2 Echo Studios+Echo Sub is worst combination...
2 Echo 4th gen is Dolby not Dolby Atmos ..so 2 Echo Studios are best
The Dolby Atmos is meaningless with a stereo setup. Two studios is honestly a waste of money. None of these speakers are really designed for surround sound. If you want Atmos just install a 7.1 setup. If height isn't that important to you or the room isn't that big than just save money and set up 5.1
This isn't a criticism of the echo line, I own several. They are just best used in unusual locations like the kitchen, your bathroom, or your nightstand.
@@skurasch hell I’m in my room a lot and got a 4th gen for $64 Canadian there isn’t a better sounding deal out there lol they sound great paired but they are really made to be on their own
@@skuraschAre you saying Dolby Atmos does not work with 2 Studio paired up?
How about one echo 4th gen and the sub, vs one echo studio. They are a similar price at the moment.
Great video. I have an echo studio. What do you think of the idea of getting 2 echos (current gen) to complement the studio from behind? Dumb idea?
You'll only be able to connect them via multi room so good if you're using them just for music.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK alright thanks alot and keep it up!
I have a question, what do you think about having one echo studio, and 2 echo 4th gens as a stereo setup? Do you think that would sound good? Would be great if you could get back to me, cheers!
Unfortunately, it won't allow you to stereo pair all 3. It will only stereo pair the same speaker. E.g. two 4th gens or 2 echo studios. You could use all 3 together if you set them up as multi room but you wouldn't be getting the stereo. I reckon it would still sound pretty good though.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK that’s a shame, I think I’ll get the two eco studios, as one sounds very good on its own!
The system was too quiet for me, will give it back. 😅
Good review, the worst music to feel a bass.
Can I pair 2 more echo dots 4th gen on the back for a surround sound experience? I already have 2 echos with hub as left and right speakers.
Only as a multiroom set up.
Any idea when is the 5th gen echo dot and 2nd gen studio coming?
🤷
The 5th is coming after the 4th but before the 6th. The 2nd Gen Studio is coming after the first but before the 3rd. I hope this clears it up
Can you do this set up with 5th gen Echo Dot?
Yes, I believe you can.
So over all the loudest/best combination is 2 echo studios and a sub?
Personally, I wouldn't bother with the sub. I'd just get 2 echo studios. I found the subwoofer too boomy.
Main reason why two echos 4th are better than studio is the internal speakers location
Echo Studio💪
I wonder if you can use the Echo subwoofer with both Echo devices and your computer. For instance I'll play Spotify from my computer to two Echo Show 5s (in stereo mode) just so I can control the volume and pause and change songs/playlists using voice controls. However, the Edifier speakers I have hooked up to my PC sound better so it would be nice to have the option of listening to either one.
P.S. Why the hell can't I use the Alexa trigger name "Computer" with the PC version of Alexa?! You can only use "Alexa." So dumb.
Are they Echo 4th Gen (bigger ball) and not Echo Dots, the reason I ask is two Echo 4th Gen Plus Sub are not on the compatability list. If it works can I run 2 echo 4h gen with a sub connected to a 2nd Gen fire cube
They're the larger echo 4th gens and they work fine with the sub.
the echos with the sub sounded muffled and not clear at all
Can you pair 1 Echo Studio (instead of Subwoofer) and 2 Echo 4th Gens? I would like to try the Echo Studio as a sub. Thanks!
You cannot stereo pair them but you can set them up as a multiroom.
What do you think about two Echo Dot vs one Echo ?
The echo would be better. 👍
How did you pair this with your Tv?
Try this video ruclips.net/video/UqnwjzuxpUc/видео.html
The studios will always have better sound separation.
Thank you 👍 I like more bass. It's funny when the police come ? Was it real ? hahaha 👍😷
Ha! No, it was a clip I found on RUclips.
Music is horrible can't youtubers find any non copyrighted decent music, music has been on the go for milenea, like youtubers post thousands of music all the time so how are they not penalised, why can't you use RUclips for sound bytes

I have 2 Studios. I'm torn as to whether I should get the sub. I wonder if the EQ can be set to get just the right amount of bass?
For me personally, I found the sub ruined the bass the studios already had. The bass from the sub is muddy and loose. The music also seemed to lose detail and clarity. I did try the EQ and it helped a little but not enough to warrant keeping the sub
@@UTILITARIANTVUK Thank you! you just saved me $129!
I want to try ONE ECHO 4 + SUB only. And then you'd have no Alexa issues at all. And you can pay for one speaker 🔉 subscription a year. Like $6/mo instead of $11. with tax is like $150/ year. I have so many subscriptions! Anyway, I wonder if the ECHO 4 WITH the Sub will work together on my OLED LGC2.( Two echo4's do not) one pairs very easily, Can I add the sub? And will it work? For TV sound 🤷♂️
Little rant, but thanks!
Lots of complaints with the studio vs echo4 for commands
Unfortunately, the simple answer is no unless you have a fire cube or fire stick connected to your TV.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK I appreciate that answer. I use a Roku so maybe I'll get a cube! That's a great way to get two speakers for much less on to my LGTV. Just one bedroom. Thanks!
Two echo studios and two subwoofers, only £600 👍
I personally think that echo speakers are overrated. I have sold mine and now use Edifier S350DB. They sound so much better.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK tambien he trasteado con esos altavoces, pero son hifi y np sirven para cine en casa
The mistake that people make when buying the speakers, it's that they do not calibrate them. Because people who know about audio know exactly how to make to echo studios and the sub sound really good. The way you tested it, it seems like you just set up the speakers but did not do any calibration.
They were calibrated but to be fair, people who know about audio wouldn't use echo speakers for their main set up.
@@UTILITARIANTVUKSo what would someone who knows about audio use that's around the same price or less and is just as easy to set up?
@@myrealnameisjohndoe116 Even an Edifier S350DB 2.1 system sounds better ruclips.net/video/ZeaO6dc8TjY/видео.html

Can you do 2 echo studio and 2 subs
I believe it's only possible to connect one sub.
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
I've already commented on this video once, my move is to use "one" echo studio with the sub. Then you're only paying the subscription fees for ONE Alexa device. For a bedroom I think that's a win 🏆. I like my Roku 4K a lot, I get ALL the content no issues, but considering a cube. Unless there's some way to use a cheap firestick for sound, and the roku as your video player. These things start to really add up. I have an LG OLED C2, and should probably just get a soundbar, keep one Alexa for the weather and call your lost phone and things...
An E Ark sound bar is probably the best answer for a good TV. These Alexa speakers really suck as Bluetooth devices
If it were me, I wouldn't buy a cube or a firestick. I would use the money to get a decent soundbar with Alexa built in. Something like the JBL Bar 5.0 Multibeam Soundbar.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK sounds good 👍 yup. Send all these speakers 🔊 back! The sub $150 US. $200 for the echo studio. And echo 4 is $50 right now. I could be Ok with just one of those 4's for the nonsense, and find an LG soundbar. I like music 🎶 sometimes but not very frequently. I have Bluetooth speakers for working in the garage. I just don't want the TV ON, everytime I ask it to play a song (*?) I'm kind of learning these things as I go along

I wouldn't say bluface... To be honest.. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have known who that is... But I do say some different music... Stairway to heaven or even Bohemian Rhapsody... Something that would have shown the clarity in music as well as vocal. With his setup echo 4 gen... A lot of the highs sounded really tinty.. where it would translate to me that if someone was singing high notes it would ring annoyingly. Where the sub would probably help even it out.

Can't see the point of this comment. 😂
@@UTILITARIANTVUK Because your tests are not valid, another youtube reviewer who know's nothing about what they are reviewing,
Firstly, both sets of speakers were stereo paired and played via a 4k firestick. There is no other way of connecting the sub to two echoes without stereo pairing via a fire device. These were around 4 feet apart instead of the recommended minimum of 6 feet, I doubt very much that an extra 2 feet would make a significant difference in stereo separation. Also, this was a comparison test not a specific sound test. As both sets of speakers were placed in the same position, it was a fair comparison. Lastly, no-ones forcing your eyelids open to watch my content let alone wasting your time to comment on it. Stop the video, click dislike and move on.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK Just proved my point, lol
And you've just proved mine 🤣
