"Its 1/50 chance for shiny" shady misses the shiny slowking
How did he not see the blue on slowking's neck?
Pink and blue are similar 😶
He is colour blind so yeah it's understandable that he didn't get that 😅.
Let's be clear: it's 1/50 for the randomizer to provide a shiny Pokémon in place of one of the 3 starters. This Stat does not apply to the chances of picking it, even if those are better odds at 1/3. Either way there are many factors that go into this selection process. I just want to clear up where that 1/50 figure comes into play (although he did miss it twice which is an even more disappointing figure 😅😅)
@@sage_669is he too? I thought it was just Tobin
Love how Shady didn't even flinch with the shiny Slowking 2:06. Yet next round, Luke has the shiny Giratina 😂😂 4:54. Then Luke has another shiny Slowking on his side 7:15
Ikr lmao
fr 🤣
Was gonna comment he didn't and they got the same one too
Does he also have a RUclips channel?
@terryfang yeah it's Shadypeguinn
japanese viewer here. nice concept for the video! i really like the respect for the language here.
side note. at 3:49, Agojimushi is Grubbin. The name you're looking
for was Dekagoose(Gumshoos)
I love this concept. You might also wanna try that with the German names eventually, would also be hilarious.
German is very silly
French has some amazing ones, and hearing them physically struggling to pronounce some of the sounds (since Shady as well as most of the clique already struggles with Japanese lmao) would be hilarious
@@sephikong8323all i know from the french one is macogneir or something beause in Brasil it sounds like MACONHA (weed)
@@Zoso55 Adolfo HITELOR
I'm Japanese. I really love this series! Luke's pronunciation is quite good.
I want to see more, so please continue!
It's good that the way you say it is kawaii❤️
I'm sorry for my poor English🥲
your english is good here! ☺
Your english is perfect!
“Zoodoo”
Your English is great. I didn't notice any errors at all. :)
Practice makes perfect
One thing I've noticed is that in the intro of most other channels, they'll usually say "me and my friend" when introducing the challenge, but Luke always says "my opponent" because there is no love on GameboyLuke. (Joking clearly, I know most of you are extremely close friends, just something I noticed and wanted to point out lol)
lol I love that shiny slowking appeared twice it was upset about being ignored as a shiny last time lol 😂
You all should do one where you tell them what their highest base stat is, but not what the number is. So for like Quaquaval you would say Attack, Skeledirge would be Special Attack, and Meowscarada would be Speed. If a mon has two stats tied for the highest, you can choose one.
Nice ides
That's very nice, I once made a quiz and it's interesting how no one could guess how garchomp second highest stat is HP; but I think guessing on the second highest stat is way too much lol
Lol I’d die if they got arceus and they said HP🤣
we actually recorded this a few days ago!
@@GameboyLuke YEEEES
12:14 that instant karma for being cocky was SO funny, mans really just forgot about First Impression
I mean you could have an Alolan Decidueye too, most people would just call that "Decidueye" though. :D
"most" = any normal person
sashikamusu actually sounds like a fish i would eat at a resturant
As soon as Luke said "you think you outspeed me or something?", I was screaming "FIRST IMPRESSION!"
Could you imagine trying to name the first 151 Pokémon with their Japanese names?
Shady thought Girutana was arceus lmao, WHAT HAS THIS WORLD COME TO 💀💀💀
That was sarcasm lol
@@asabass9463 Or was it lmao 💀💀💀
Always fun when Luke uploads a video
Fun Fact: from gen 2 onwards, the company makes sure that legendaries have the same name in Japanese and English
I really love this japanese pokemon names dynamic!
Great video guys. Keep up the great work. Love your videos and personalities.
Are we just going to skip over the fact that shady thought “Giratina” was Arceus? Like, HUH?! 😂😂😂
He was sarcastic 😅
@@nickvanderwielen8348 I sure hope so, I wasn’t sure when he never actually said it was Giratina😂😂😂
Yeeee that was sarcasm all the way dude
bruh that was evidently a joke lmao, he hears the name, instantly knows it's giratina then when he says what he wants, jokes abt how obvious it is by saying another mon.
Really glad to have Shady coming back
6:47 - Luke: “WHO THE HELL IS THAT?!” 😂💀
I love this so much. More of this please!
Thanks for all the great content ❤
Ayyyyyyyyy 400k BABY!!!!!!! Congrats Luke🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Shady didn’t notice the shiny Slowking!! Paaain!! 🤣
I was literally just thinking how the Japanese name of Banette sounds like Geppetto and Shady said it the exact same time I was thinking it!
7:05 still could have chosen hydrapple or dipplin, I don't know why they don't remember that applin has four evolutions now with one being a middle stage.
Editing is ON POINT for this one
How he said Ikuzo!! Was so calming 😊
I've been watching these videos all day
0:03
If it wasn’t for the cannon event of the bombs, none of this would be possible
hello Luke. i love your vids and you allways make my day better
8:57 the difference in their pictures is so funny. On one hand shady looking like this viking angel ready to preach a holy message from god, and then you have luke who's just :D
Could you consider double battles when Shady is involved in a video (or anyone else for that matter)? Would spice up the videos a bit and I feel like Shady is much better at them.
I'm so glad he gave the turtle explanation because the whole time I'm sitting there yelling at my screen
KAME IS TURTLE
Then when the other guy was talking about dragon Ball z I'm just like
YES COME ON TURTLE
WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE THE TURTLE 🐢🐢🐢
Then he did and I felt whole again
I love the content that you guys put out. Just wish you guys would try to have a battle royal with like 20 different people or some kind of trophy or a cash prize or something
2 videos from the retireees in the same day. Let's go!!
I love that you learned that Kame means, after naming your God Arceus that in the previous video😂
i appreciate you had bocchi in the intro lol
Congrats on 400k brother!
2:50 lol,TOTK goes hard
Congrats on 400k mate
@gameboyluke
So, Japanese is actually one of the easiest languages to speak at a beginner level, due to extremely rigid pronunciation rules. Syllables are always pronounced the same, and vowel sounds have no variations. So when you see 'a' in a romanized Japanese word, it's always pronounced as "ah", no exceptions. A, e, i, o, u; ah, eh, ee, oh, oo. Vowels are not really combined for different sounds either. "Ai" is literally just the A sound and the I sound, or "ah-ee."
There are only two pseudo-exceptions, and both are a product of speaking at conversational speed. The ō that you sometimes see is just a condensed version of "ou", which would be oh-oo, but when spoken at conversational speed ends up sounding like an elongated "ohhh". "U" anywhere but the start of a word often gets half slurred out of existence, which is why Sasuke is pronounced "Sahs-keh" and not "sah-soo-keh" when spoken conversationally, though the latter is technically the correct pronunciation.
Repeat consonants only kind of exist. There's a character that can be added to an existing character that basically means, "make this sound longer, but quickly". So "bokksu" (derived from "box") is really more like "bohk-ksu" with the 'kk' meant to replicate the sound of an "x" ('ks' sound in English) that doesn't exist in Japanese. It's often a way of writing loanword sounds that don't exist in Japanese. So basically it's English's fault for making words weird even in other languages.
Just knowing that much gets you like 50% of the way to saying any romanized Japanese word correctly. There are rules for non-vowels too, but that's enough for now.
I wonder if there was a shiny glitch starting when giratina came because what are the chances that there is shiny in the same place three times in a row.
i love how shady missed shiny slowking
Slitherwing standing up like "Whassup bro you wanna throw down?"
Congratulations for reaching 400k luke
smh now we're pitting Brother against Brother.
SO glad to see Shady back into the "And then we Fight", ESPECIALLY with Luke!!
4:36 I nearly died 💀
It's probably been pointed out, but Luke said Ekusureggu sounded English - it is, it's a direct transliteration of X-Leg
So, just going to say it:
one of the keys with Japanese pronunciation is that each vowel is always. ALWAYS. pronounced the exact same way.
A is pronounced as in "Apple" or "fAther"
E is pronounced as in "Egg" or "shEd"
I is pronounced as in "Igloo" or "frIgId"
O is pronounced as in "Oval" or "OctagOn"
U is pronounced as in "fUme" or "rUde"
Any vowels that have the line right above it are areas where you elongate the vowel pronounciation.
Think you need to tweak something, "Oh-Val" does not use the same O sound as "Awhk-ta-gawhn".
@@CanisMythsonThat and the "apple" and "father". Would be better with "llama" and "father", or "apple" and "basket"
@@CanisMythson Fair enough. I was trying to find words which didn’t have the other pronunciations the Japanese version doesn’t use, and the ones I listed were the closest ones I could think of off of the top of my head.
…Also, for Octagon, might’ve been influenced by how I would pronounce it if it was re-written in Japanese. I was trying to avoid words like…well, “word”, and such.
You should do a battle ship where you choose opponents mons, and the PC box has 7 legendary, 7 babies and 16 fully evolved around 500 stat total.
Close to 400K Lets Go!
2:56 I’m dying
7:25 Maschiff's Japanese name sounds like Urshifu
Was it a shiny slowing on the 2nd round for Luke?
Love the videos, Luke. 👍
As someone who watches sub anime I find thsi as a absolute win
i love ur intro its so catchy
I know Japanese is hard to pronouce - But here's a trick for when R or L is involved. Admittetly a hard trick - "Think L but say R"
And another "trick" is that when a name has "su" fade out when saying the "u" after the s. Again - takes time to learn and I DON'T demand you doing it. ^^ Thanks for these fun videos
Another few hints to maybe help you guys decipher stuff in other challenges with Japanese:
zou - elefant in Japanese (As someone rightly told in the comments - elefant is zou not sou)
kani- crab in Japanese
kame - turtle in Japanese
And Sandy Shocks had Suna (meaning) sand in the name ^^
...it's "zou". "zou" is elephant.
@@twinleadersx8179 You're right - I spelled it wrong
I am a french guy and i love this concept
I am interested about your french language level, then why not do exactly the same concept but with french names ?
I don't think he knows the first Slowking was shiny
Make a wild card where if you actually guess one you choose
"This language is so hard to speak"
*laughs in Polish*
Compared to Polish, Japanese is like Luke's game in the 4 player nuzlocke
I think the main difficulty is with the alphabet, the speaking is not too hard honestly but _reading_
@@glitchedaura5916 Still a million times easier than Polish IMHO
@@sickranchez4742 in terms of speaking at least I'm gonna agree with you yeah man that shit sounds _hard_
gameboy luke missed out on a shiny slowking
Why did shady name his revaroom after the abbreviation for tears of the kingdom?
Its the retired brothers back in action!
Me naming myself チーズタン足 In a game to scare the other players
The Japanese guy seeing “cheese tongue foot” in the lobby
Gameboy Luke : Johto Slowking (Missed)
ShadyPenguin : Origin Giratina
ShadyPenguin : Slakoth (Missed)
ShadyPenguin : Johto Slowking (Missed)
How did Decidueye switch to flying animation?
I wonder how u guys come up with ideas like this?! 😮
the lack of music is kinda unsettling great vid otherwise great battle
2:06. that was a shiny slowking, is shady blind to blue?
Round 2 had a shiny slowking
2:02 the slowking was shiny...
Nice vid Luke!
1:55 Is that a shiny?
3:27 Grafaiai is my second favorite Gen 9. Without including Starters. 3rd if I do.
I'd use 3 of Luke's and 0 of Shady's.
2:52
I played pokemon... IN TEARS OF THE KINGDOM
That was a great fight! 😁
did shady even notice the shiny Slowking when he reads these comments he will probably b embarrased
Everytime I see shady I always have to remind myself that this isn't DBD and that he isn't SpookyLoops
Triple arrow serene grace would be broken
14:43 Nice
People who watch the Pokemon anime subbed instead of dubbed: I'm 4 parallel universes ahead of you!
the chances of getting 3 shiny in a row in 1 in 125000
Banette's name sounds like Pacifier in portuguese: "chupeta"
So they remembered gumshoos…BUT NOT *AEGISLASH OR ALAKAZAM? OR A G G R O N?*
Btw chance for these shinys was 1 in
8000000(0,0008%)
one question DID ANYONE NOTICE THE SHINY SLOWKING!!!!
What is the song in the outro I can’t find it on hypers yt channel?
Kame hame ha means turtle destruction wave
"Kamukame? Like kamehameha?"
Kamehameha translates to turtle destruction wave, and chewtle is a turtle.
bro commented this like it wasnt already addressed in the video
Um is no one going to say the Luke could have a shiny slowking
Giratina, oh thats so familiar 😮
Retired poketuber gang baby
respect for showing bocchi the rock, love you editor
Question has the dlc come out before this video
So close to 400k
1:43 don't disrespecting my fav mareanie like that
Toxapex is great if used right
Tbf it has to be on the right team composition but it's still good
It's hella bulky and it's personally saved me in a lot of battles
