  • Before you have any cosmetic dental treatment, its important to start with a design.

    Wow. This is incredibly helpful.
    I currently have a dentist that is great at the typical things like repairing cavities and crowns.
    Now that I am ready for veneers the information you have given in this video is going to help me decide whether or not I will use my current dentist to start my cosmetic dental journey 😊

    This is really long. I didn’t expect it to be, but I hope you or someone in your field will take the time to read it and understand that we need more Doctors like you. Again, I’m sorry and thank you for this wonderful tutorial. If I can get mine done I’ll know what to ask for. Your amazing ❤
    Oh how I wish I would have seen your videos before I had to have my teeth done due to an accident. I had nice teeth, not the best teeth, but they were straight and pretty, thanks to braces. I flossed them daily and of course, brushed them. As I sit here today I’m just sobbing while watching your amazing videos, thinking why was I sent to 5 or 6 dentists, 3 oral surgeons, a periodontist, a dental school where they work on live patients. I would never ever go back there again. Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s a requirement in order to get your medical/dental degree. However, the student that worked on me should never have received his degree. He would tell me one thing and then he had to go over “his” plan with one of the professors which ranged from a dentist, endodantist, periodontist and a couple other doctors that specialized in dental care. I worked for a urologist for several years so I understand some of the medical terminology the student and the doctor would talk about in regards to what the student was going to do. They wouldn’t talk with me or around me and for some time I didn’t understand why. I could hear what they were saying and I understand most of it. I would ask him what are you going to do today? Long story short, he told me I needed this one tooth pulled and I agreed with him. After being scheduled to have it done I ended up having 9 teeth pulled. I wasn’t able to talk as my mouth was numb, had 2 different students working on me and a professor was in the room. I was a bit out of it, but when all was said and done I went in the bathroom and cried and cried. I was told they could do implants but I needed to have some of the “remaining” teeth fixed. I couldn’t just walk away at this point. I went back to the student I was assigned to. He did scaling (I think that’s what it’s called) I had 3 root canals that he never finished. He didn’t cap them. At the next appointment he gave me some paperwork he had done for me. He told me that my “case” is too complicated for him to do, but here are 4 options. I think my jaw hit the floor. I took it home and thought, well, I don’t have much choice now. This is already so long so I’ll just say I went to 2 different Doctors, one was still a student graduating in 2 weeks and she had me go to an oral surgeon that helps at the school on patients that the students can’t do. This was not going to cost much because it was a learning experience for dentists that are going to specialize. I was sent to this beautiful high rise looking over Salt Lake City Utah (I wasn’t going to say where I lived, but now you do). He was a nice man but a bit odd. After taking X-rays and looking at what teeth I had left, I was given a cost breakdown which was less than $50,000.00 and more than $30,000.00. I asked him about the U, being the University of Utah. He said, and this was his exact words, “oh screw the U, we can do it here”! I left, crying all the way home. Which isn’t in Salt Lake, but still in Utah. Four years went by and I tried to get help to get implants. My husband got dental insurance and I thought, finally I can get my smile and life back, then. The insurance would only cover a dentist not a specialist to do anything. Another year went by and I finally came to the conclusion that I can’t buy a Cadillac on a pinto budget, so I decided to get what was left pulled and go with the old denture’s. We got dental insurance and it paid for some and I can go to a specialist, if I can find someone on our plan and then they cover a portion of the implants. I’m almost certain they were made by a 3 year old blind person, actually a 3 year old blind person would have done 100% better than whoever made mine. They cost us a lot of money. I don’t work, but I did, I just didn’t get paid with money but with memories I will cherish forever. My husband and I lived with my precious mom. I helped her with her daily living. She passed away last February at the age of 90. I was pretty much tied down with her and I don’t regret it. I thought I would be able to go places with my family and friends again, I looked forward to have my smile back even though it was a fake smile. I don’t go anywhere at all unless I absolutely have to. The dentures are so bad, they don’t fit right and yes, I’ve gone back to the lab guy and he adds some horrible tasting lining, sands a little bit, but he isn’t fixing them. I know it takes time to get use to them, but there’s no way with these. I’ve used my own dremel and use so many different things to hold them in. I use a powder, a cream and these strips that grow a little once they are wet. It works for the top, the bottom have never stayed in even with the lab man doing whatever he does. I’ve actually done better with them than he did. I’m very sorry for such a long comment. It’s more like a book than a comment. I miss my sweet mom so much, but I wish now that I could smile. I admire you Dr. You truly care about your patients. They are so blessed and you are truly an angel. ❤

    I congratulate you for doing these very informative videos. I cannot see the point of doing an implant unless the germs which cause periodontitis are removed from ones mouth. I know that there are antibiotics which will kill the germs and there are antibacterial mouthwashes that will kill the germs. A microbial analysis of the mouth should be done before the implant procedure to see if the germs are present. If the germs are present then the patient should be put on a course of antibiotics together with an antibacterial mouthwash for a 1 or 2 week period before the procedure. Then another antimicrobial analysis of the patients mouth should be done to ensure that the gems have been eliminated. Once the germs have been eliminated then the dental procedure can go ahead. However I cannot get my dentist to do any of these things so I am very reluctant to go ahead and have an implant. Any pocketing should be irrigated with some antimicrobial substance as well. The mouth must be completely sterilised of the damaging bacteria.
    The problem with commercial antibacterial mouthwashes is that they are full of artificial sweeteners which are artificial carbohydrates obtained from living things like plants. These artificial carbohydrates are a food source for the germs and are responsible for calculus formation on ones teeth. It beggars belief that anyone would produce such useless antibacterial mouthwashes.
    I have been using hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash because that has no additives. I dilute the pure hydrogen peroxide as recommended by the instructions on the bottle. I use the hydrogen peroxide once a fortnite. I am of the view that it has helped my gums. I would like to know how often is it safe to use hydrogen peroxide, what volume should I take into my mouth, how long should the hydrogen peroxide stay in my mouth before spitting out and how long before I rinse my mouth out to get rid of all the hydrogen peroxide and should I rinse my mouth with sodium bicarbonate to neutralise the hydrogen peroxide which I believe is acidic and may damage my tooth enamel. Not much point killing the germs and damaging your tooth enamel is there. At the moment I keep the hydrogen peroxide in my mouth for 45 seconds. After spitting out I wait for 60 seconds and then I rinse my mouth out using 250cc of water. I would like to rinse my mouth out with sodium bicarbonate however a byproduct of this would be carbon dioxide which can form a weak acid in your mouth called the carbonic acid.
    Could you recommend a suitable mouthwash and how to use sodium peroxide safely in one of your videos.

    Dear Dr Gurs, thank you so much for your sharing and effort putting out these videos. Helpful to patients and dentists alike. I’m an aspiring implant and aesthetic dentist in Malaysia. Do you mind sharing your development pathway as a professional?
    I have been trying to specialise for the past 5 years but haven’t been able to gain entry into a Periodontology program. I wondering what other pathways I can take to get the proper training needed to give the best treatment to my patients. Currently, I am studying what I can on my own and seeking advice from a network of specialists.

    One thing you didn’t discuss…isn’t the tooth next to the front tooth sl shorter for a natural smile? Also is the transparency that gradually sl increases as the tooth goes away from the gym, important for a natural smile? Thank you so much!!!

    Hello sir, when preparing for the bridge do we have to perform RCT of adjacent teeth that we're taking support from whether they require it or not...or if they are lesion free, we can just do crown preparations of pfm or all ceramic whatever patient chooses

      @@drgurssehmi yes sir I agree with you..but some dentist say here that it's high chance that the vital crowned tooth will require rct in the future so it's better to do it beforehand to save time and sensitivity issues
      It sounds so unethical but I'm not sure if it needs to be done or not for the long term

    Hi doctor. I have noticed when people are about the age of 50 and older, most of the times you can tell if that person has some kind of teeth implants. Reasons I believe is, first they are too straight, 2nd they are too white. Your thoughts doctor?

    • @drgurssehmi
      @drgurssehmi  3 года назад

      It might not always be implants, but when people spend a lot of money on their smile, they always want them to be straight and white. Others will naturally have straight white teeth all through life
