Kids just starting out on guitar these days are so lucky to live in a time when solid state didn't = suck.
Is gorilla still making amps…. God i hope not!
Solid state and sounding great! Great feature set. Intriguing!
Thanks, Kyle. You are a dude that I trust for good advice and info on all my metal gear. Keep doing what you do, bro!
The LP in drop C sounded awesome
For a super cheap and small amp, that Leadtop sounds absolutely awesome! However, the cleans and edge-of-breakup tones on the Dualtop is so good that I would have to get that one just for the versatility. Also, Laney actually included a switch to disable the onboard cab sim. I don't understand why not all amp builders do that! Hardwiring a crappy cab sim on the DI out just makes it useless to 99% of users (although the cab sim on these amps don't sound half-bad actually).
I love how the amps with usable IRs have the option to switch them off, but the bad ones are hard locked on
Sounded badass!!
Impressive for little amps! Sounds solid 👍
Those Laney's sound badass!
Love it. Even the gainy cleans you dialed in remind me of that early Pyromania guitar tone. Hell yeah.
Glen mentioned you in his video of these Laney heads and it just so happens you uploaded a video of this amp around the same time also great video I want to try this amp out even more now.
Kyle: "Laney are cheap, just kidding I wanna work with you again Laney"
Laney: 🗿🗿🗿
Thank you for the free stuff 😂
I love your dog! What a cutie!
The iron heart is a total sleeper. When I bought my second Triamp mkii, I plugged into one of these and it stopped me dead. Awesome amps
Just to be clear, did you plug a H&K amp into another amp? I’m familiar with slaving amps but wasn’t sure if that’s what you meant here.
Nice to see some solid state amps getting love.
Nice video these little guys rock hard all day!
you deserve SO MUCH MORE subscribers, dude...
Man these sound great. Also, I think I speak for all of us when I say we need more Moosey!!
I dig the Feathers riff!
I liked those country licks at the end.
Got my dualtop yesterday, messed with it all day today and it sounds amazing!
What cab are you using for it?
@@JAF2991 The Laney 2x12 that came with it. I got the stack not just the head. 👍
After watching Glenn’s video on these amps, I didn’t think you would like them, but it seems like you got some great tones out of it.
My first "real" head and cab amp was a Laney (solid state 2 channel head w/ reverb & Laney 4x10 cab). I have such a soft spot for them. Being 16 and buying it with months of saving from work I just did not have the know-how to get the sound I wanted out of it. Boy was it loud tho. Went to locate another one as a nostalgia purchase, and if you can find one they're not cheap now lol. These new heads are really cool!
My first tube amp was a Laney. I did sell it but I wanted to have a Laney again because of it so I got a different one. I will always have a soft spot for Laney too.
Ordered one this morning.
What's the verdict?
@beefnacos6258 I really like it, good cleans monster gain.
Dude that riff you play at 16:47 is insane! very badass! \,,/
90’s hatebreed still fucks in 23’
It's their Loudpedal as a head (+reverb), got it.
bright setting sounds like a typical ironheart but the dark setting sounds like an old laney black Sabbath
These are cool. Rivera Clubster Royale Recording is still my 'go to'. I can basically mimic a number of amps or just go for something totally original. Everytime I see something like this and want it, I just dial mine in similar and am satisfied.
Kyle now you need to do the ironheart mini stack 😅 it has 4 3
''speakers in a cab with head
Great price point on both of those units!
Is that a Bogner Uber Ultra in the background? Laneys sound great.
The question we all have: Did Glenn actually “Not put a snot rag in the box” for you?
If you start to run out of amps to demo you could demo a savage audio amp. I feel like they don't get enough love.
I have the loudpedal. Its good for the $ money. The sound is good with modulation. It feels ss but it takes like 30 seconds to forget. Im pretty into the duo top but im not kicking either out of bed
If I were in a store, I'd try this out and A/B it with the Orange Super Crush. Would love to see which one comes out on top.
Super Crush, no question
The Orange is far more versatile. If you just want metal and a good enough clean, get the Laney (specifically the Loudpedal since it's the same amp but $130 cheaper). If you want a do it all amp, get the Orange.
I have the loudpedal and the Super Crush and like them both. The Orange naturally sits in a mix with my band a bit better but I gig with the Laney because it just sits on my board instead of needing a separate board + head. Also the Laney seems to like its built in boost better than the ODs I have so I just use it and don't need an OD on my board.
@@bassica5195you are out your mind. This blows the super crush away.
@@darklinkduck2275 bro, the cleans alone on the super crush already makes the amp super versatile tone machine
First time saw you w/ a 7 string Kyke!👍
I love your dog my dog whines like that too haha
I run the pedal version, 4 cable method with Line6 hx stomp, so complete rig on a pedal board. genuinely surprising how good a rig you can get with minimal effort
One thing that is weird about these amps is that even the Dual Lead has a power brick instead of a IEC power connector. They should have gone with 120w on the DL so it was a better competition with the Orange Super Crush.
I ordered 1. Im guessing the optional boost gives it some front end headroom
I like your sound on those amps more than SMG :D
tuned down sounds sick
I'm getting strong Bandit vibes from this, sounds very similar to your demo of silver stripe Bandit you did. Less power, way more features, and similar sound. Not a bad way to go at all!
...Dat filthy tone you had from 16:40 to 17:00 was 👌
Just preordered lol
btw super cute dog :)
Hey what are your thoughts on the Dual Top vs a Randall RG1003H for a SS metal-focused backup amp to a 6505+?
hi:) does it sound the same as Laney Ironheart Foundry Loudpedal ??
Kyle, honest opinion. Will this amp metal properly with just the amp's gain? Will it chug, or is it best suited for classic rock?
Won't be selling my DSL but sounds better here than on Glen's channel and sounds solid.
Agreed. Glenn and his "vintage" Judas Priest tone lol. I wanted to hear them crunch, and Kyle delivered.
Ah yess Glenn said that these were going to you and I knew I had to check this out as soon as possible and now? Here I am :b
That LP has some chutzpah!!
Just saw Glen Fricker's review of these amps, and just wondering...did you find a snot soiled rag in the bottom of the box? 🤣
What a nice blood splatter cable.!?😊
Not too shabby 4 sure
Thank you for 7-string playthrough
Definitely picking up one of those!
Fluff's rules say this video gets a 5 out of 5 beards just because there is a dog 😂
Does the lil lead top take pedals well????
Awesome demo Kyle! They sound great. One thing I couldn't find (unless I missed it) is any mention of the power section 🤔 Are they tubes or solid state?
Solid State. Thankfully the technology has come a long way from the early days of those horrible 80’s solid state amps.
@@JasonMcNamara you got that right! Thx man
These or the orange micro dark?
I owned a Laney Ironheart 60watt head years ago and I could NOT get the tone I was after. Changed tubes, changed cabs. I just could not get the gain saturation I wanted, and I had active EMG pickups in my guitar...
Your demo sounded awesome though. Nice work.
I had the same issues with that amp. Tried different boosts in front as well and it just always felt like it lacked balls. Definitely curious about picking one of these up at the very least as a power amp for my Ax8.
@whiteness2289 I think Laney should make a power amp version of this amp, just for this purpose. The amp is incredibly transparent, and when I used my Korg AX3000G pedal through the power amp, it was sonic bliss!
Did Glenn leave a snot rag in one of the boxes? 🤣
I have a question for you, Kyle. If you could answer it, it would be amazing and helpful.
How loud are you playing when you demo these things? I only ask because it’s quite apparent the noise the amp is producing with the boost I’m just wondering, do you have this that at a considerable volume? Or is it a bit quieter?
I think he plays them pretty damn loud.
@@beefnacos6258 yea I normally don’t pay that much attention I guess apparently, but I went back and looked and he had the volume up at noon so considering yeah that’s pretty fucking loud. L O L.
Do they have effects loops? Sound great!
Yes.
Cool amp! But the star here is Lucy, she’s adorable!
haha, he's Moosey, not Lucy
Ooops 🤦🏻♂
In this trend of products, Boss has an upgraded version of the Katana Air that's been floating around *hint hint*
It’s only 3 times the price
Laney, if you're listening please put a D-cable power on the back of this. Thanks.
Have used the Lanet Ironheart Studio rack mounted amp ... insane tone especially for 8 and 7 string work.
Im here to hear it with an overdrive
How does it compare to a firebal 25, soundwise, maybe a comparaison video!
Lol why though?
Would you say this could be used for drop tuning hardcore? Or is it lacking for say drop B mosh riffs
Playing through it in Gb 7 string. If you got great ODs you'll be great.
That and newspapers and magazines
You don't, by any chance, happen to have (or have easy access to) a Peavey Windsor, do you? I'd love to know what you might get playing riffs through that with a typical clean boost. It's supposed to be Peavey's answer to somewhere between a Plexi and a JCM800, and they can be had for like 300 bucks.
I made a video on the windsor quite a while back. Despite people saying it's supposed to be Peavey's take on a Marshall, it falls very short imo
And the od?
Hey Kyle did Spectre guitar leave a dirty snotrag in the box for you
i'm sold on the lead. I'm currently using a full size amp in the Peavey Supreme XL on the 50w setting for hardcore gigs. $300 for a easier to handle head with the same equivalent output? it's a no brainer.
So, did you find any used tissues in the box?
From glen crying? 😂
Glenn ships fast huh? Solid state!!! In the style of obituary circa 1994 world demise album.
Um if it was good enough for Iommi it’s good enough for me. Sabbath!!!!!!!!!!
More Moosey please
So, are they solid state preamps(diode clipping)?
The transistors clip, not the diodes. In this application, the transistors are doing what the preamp tubes do on a tube amp.
Sounds good and nasty! I approve
🔥 Marked By An X 🔥
Kyle before making this video: What are you doing biological step unc-… oh cool, thanks for the amp
See Kyle? You’re not the only one with terrible jokes
I picked up a used IRT Studio for $400. That's what I think of these ampa.
Who's best for drop b ,drop c#?
Laney ironheart or splawn nitro?
Neither one tbf. 6505/Invective, 5150 Iconic, Revv G20 or 5153 are all more suited to lower tunings imo. However, Nitros are still amazing amps.
@@DeL07 i don't like 5150 , and revv amps , i prefer moded Marshall style...
How does it compare to the og irt tube amp?
The IRT-15 and IRT-15-2 were both single channel, but had a bit more tone shaping options. They were cool and you can often find them for $200-300.
anybody know if these heads can handle any speaker cabinet there is no switch on the back of the head for 4ohm 8ohm 16 ohm ect....?
It doesn't need a switch, any 8 or 16 ohm cabinet will work.
Thumbs up just for playing Hatebreed Smash Your Enemies.
Only thing im not digging is shared eq and the noise i wish you tested it with a noise gate in the video
had a noise gate on the whole time, just not in the effects loop
Got my amp last week, it all works perfect at home but today I went the first time on our practice room, plug it on a Palmer 4x12 16Ohms, produced a sound for about 10 secs and then no more sounds and the lights start flickering. Anyone who owns this product got the same experience? #needhelpbadly
Laney disappeared from Thomann... I wonder why?
I need to go potty!
Love me some Laney...Tony Iommi
Since you have Laney’s ear, you should slap them in the face for putting such a subpar boost section in there regular sized Ironhearts.I mean really, that could’ve turned a fantastic amp into an incredible one.
The Boost works great. Just need to drop a Noise agate into the FX a loop and you’re all set. Laney not adding one helped to keep the price down so low and plus most High Gain players own a Noise agate anyway. I know I do 😂
@@JasonMcNamara
My problem, and many others as I’ve read, was not with the noise. It seems like the boost acted almost as a fuzz pedal as apposed to a “clean” boost or overdrive. It worked fine until you dial in some bass frequencies. The problem with the boost section is it doesn’t shelve low end like most boost pedals.
Im not the only one with this opinion.
Let’s all be honest. Some Laney amps are good. These just sound like Metal Zone.
If this is the same power section as the pedal I see no point in buying these amps. I own the pedal and really like the tone, sounds great on recordings but in no way does it keep up with a loud drummer even through a 4x12
Put the PdeQ in the loop………Trust me.
I love these. I do believe they are solid state amps, but thats ok. Amps like these are perfect to 4CM with say, a Line 6 Helix.
Yes of course they are solid state
Was that Feathers on the Crunch test?
Yep, sounds like solid state 🥲
