- An absolutely classic scene: Gracie applies for a new driver's license and encounters a nasty DMV clerk. Wonderful for many reasons, among them, displaying how impossible it was for anyone to ever make Gracie feel insulted. The bit with card over the eye always cracks me up.

Every bit of Gracie's logic made sense.
To say that it doesn't make sense means you aren't really listening.
I've never seen this before. Just so funny.
Of course, an ambulance has the right of way. How else will it get to the pedestrian in the intersection?
You'd think the DMV man would know better.
The funny thing about Gracie was she had a certain logic that made sense.
Because she was married to a Jew.♥️😇

Bea Benadaret was originally supposed to play Granny on The Beverly Hillbillies but after seeing Irene Ryan perform in summer stock they gave her the job.
@@kevinmadden1645 Benaderet was also the first choice to play Ethel Mertz, but after Desi Arnaz saw Vivian Vance in a play the jig was up.
She also played Kate on Petticoat Junction, Betty Rubble on the Flintstones, and Granny on the Tweety Bird cartoons.
I did not like how rude that man was to Blanche. Even the viewing audience was taken aback by his brutal remarks to Blanche. Whoever wrote this part and decided to have this in this episode mad a LOUSY choice. I felt very sorry she was treated this way.
Poor, poor fictional Blanche!

Well, think of it this way. After how rude he was to Blanche, he absolutely deserved the frazzling he went through when dealing with Gracie. In that sense the writers were correct to make him so rude.
