So my best friend and I are like the biggest rival. Admire each others strength and use them against each other🤣 I was the typical cool jock that got into fights alot and he was the overzealous nerd🤣🤣 I cant express how easily we connected and we've been like that ever since 8th grade. Its was so coincidental and weird as well. Friendship literally started with him saying to me ( all after he realized the seat at the front of the class were full so he had to sit next to me at the back) "Hi I'm Neil, you play pokemon"😂 Surprisingly I was so poor back in the day the only game I ever played was pokemon on gba. So we connected on our mutual love for pokemon and before I knew I was at skls in the evening doing pokemon battles we trained for weeks in and opened my world to whole new perspective. This really reminds me of the list of things I wanted in my future partner that I wrote down before I started dating again. I wrote down stuff like "takes responsibility for their emotions", vain shit I'm attracted to, "good with money", "Has a job they're passionate about". I wanted them to have some sort of passion (love me some musical bois lol). When I looked at the list I felt like it might not be possible to find someone that dope. But I just went for it and (using okcupid) found my literal dream human. I described him to my best friend as "dorky/charming" and she was like "That sounds like you". We're literal best friends/soulmates/lovers and all that jazz. It felt so intense when we met, it was like a light went off in my brain that just "knew" which sounds fucking stupid but it wasn't a totally emotional "knew" like I might have felt when I was younger. It was a very logical "knew" as well. Like all my logic boxes were ticked off, wanted the same things in the future (kids, to live in the same city) I found him insanely attractive and we got along like fucking pb and j. All this to say that dude, be fucking picky. Knowing what you want will bring you what you want. I believe that. If you've got your shit together and you want someone who will compliment you completely, not only is that possible but I really believe that you get what you put into this world and if you're serving hot/mentally stable/totally self reliant into the world well guess what baby ;) It'll come back eventually!

I kind of stumbled into all of my relationships, but I was more thoughtful and deliberate with my current partner. We’ve been together for seven years now and I don’t see an end for us, even though a small, scarred piece of my heart has kept an eye out for it. Our love for each other has only grown with time, and being around him makes me happy. It’s crazy to see how many relationships lack the kind of respect and admiration my partner and I have for each other. No wonder so many people seem miserable. We only got to where we are because we were willing to be vulnerable with each other. No matter how scary it was, we were honest about who we are, what we need, and how we feel about the world around us. Seems like a lot of people really aren’t choosing partners with the whole picture in mind. Instead of considering someone with reference to every part of the self, a lot of people fall back on the tool they use most often. Listening to your genitals, your heart, or your head exclusively will ensure that some part of you will starve. I believe a soulmate (romantic or platonic) will be able to nurture the best parts of a person and allow some space for the worst parts, because at a fundamental level, you get each other. You see and accept each other for who you are, not what you’re expected to be.

Something to think about with relationships, romantic or otherwise, is what type of structure you need. Some people are looking for a partner/friend that they share everything with; hobbies, social circles, interests, outlooks, passions, etc. Others are looking for someone to spend time with between the happenings of their own lives. Neither is wrong or offers less value, but trying to build and sustain a relationship with someone who needs option A, while the other needs option B, is far too straining to be sustainable. Everyone has a different version of ideal. I had a friendship end last year because we needed different structures. We had many conversations about it to improve as neither of us felt fulfilled, but in the end we couldn't reconcile. At the time I felt inadequate because I couldn't give what they needed. Having done therapy and personal reflection since, I know we just weren't the right match. And that's okay. Now I have a better understanding of what I need and what I can offer. Very interesting points! It sounds like I have a best friend who is to me as yours is to you. I can always count on her, she is a part of my chosen family, and we will always connect and always be each other’s best friend, we are also total opposites but I don’t think she is my sole mate. Honestly, I think I feel that way because we are total opposites. I couldn’t spend every second with her or relate on the deepest level with her, but I know regardless of what we relate on we will always love each other unconditionally. I do feel like I’ve found my soul mate in my fiancé. The night we met we stayed up until 5 in the morning talking (cheesey i know). We could probably do that every night and we would never run out of things to talk about or we would just lay there and feel each others energy and just be at piece. To me they are very different relationships, but both involve a deep and true love.

Went through the battery cupboard in my moms house today, and I found all of the parts to a 70s vaccum the bag, the replacement pieces, and we have not owned it in my entire life. But I had to leave it because I'm not allowed to throw it away so theres a whole 70s shelf of vaccum parts and rat poison LOL ~Oh but I went through all of the batteries and checked them for charge. Can you talk about cancel culture? To me it sounds like a 2 thing to do but its so toxic & prevalent right now where a random group of people just decide "yep they did something innocuous 10 years ago so lets end their career & reputation." sometimes people take advantage of what's happening right now & straight up lie to end people's careers by convincing younger people to hop on the train for all the wrong reasons. One case comes to mind is the quinton Flynn case. Where he was in an online relationship with some girls for a few months they were on good terms for months until they found out he got married. So they spread so much misinformation about quinton flynn & stalked him with his family. He actually went to court with enough evidence to prove that he was being harassed & stalked against the woman who started the movement against him. He won an order of protection but she keeps pushing the narrative as "he silenced me! He won because of money!" this example of one of many with how toxic cancel culture is. It's harder to be a man when it comes to cancel culture sometimes.

I am finding it really hard to navigate the fact that a lot of the people I think are cool are 'leftist woke', moving to San Fran is even harder because in their eyes you are genuinely a bad person if you don't agree. No hate to em just found it really frustrating recently that some people including my mom can't recognise that they are often being manipulated by rhetoric and like social bubbles almost as strongly as the other side. When you are 20 like me, you can only date people for their potential LOL we are all half humans just trying to figure it out. And tbh I am actually wary of people who have everything together at my age because everything must have gone very well for them to the point where I am skeptical if they have learnt how to grow themselves as people in the future. U have to be a little bit of a mess and have ur life fall apart a few times for me to relate. And be insanely smart ngl that is my baseline criteria, however meaningless I think the way people ascribe intelligence is, that is where the shallowness of my attraction comes into play which I allow myself because most people are equally shallow with looks when it comes to attraction. Which is totally fine too.

Went through the battery cupboard in my moms house today, and I found all of the parts to a 70s vaccum the bag, the replacement pieces, and we have not owned it in my entire life. But I had to leave it because I'm not allowed to throw it away so theres a whole 70s shelf of vaccum parts and rat poison LOL

I have yet to decide whether I believe or not in soulmates. I do believe I was super lucky in life, like I have these friends that are twins whom I’ve been with since kids because we went to the same *insert name I forgot of that place where babies go to be babies*, and then we went to the same school together, same grade and same class, and we enjoy doing the same stuff, etc.
But I still don’t think that makes them my soulmates because we don’t really talk about deep stuff, but at the same time, maybe I could talk to them about all that and that’d make them my soulmates, therefore making me believe in soulmates? o_o

Can you talk about cancel culture? To me it sounds like a 2 thing to do but its so toxic & prevalent right now where a random group of people just decide "yep they did something innocuous 10 years ago so lets end their career & reputation." sometimes people take advantage of what's happening right now & straight up lie to end people's careers by convincing younger people to hop on the train for all the wrong reasons. One case comes to mind is the quinton Flynn case. Where he was in an online relationship with some girls for a few months they were on good terms for months until they found out he got married. So they spread so much misinformation about quinton flynn & stalked him with his family. He actually went to court with enough evidence to prove that he was being harassed & stalked against the woman who started the movement against him. He won an order of protection but she keeps pushing the narrative as "he silenced me! He won because of money!" this example of one of many with how toxic cancel culture is. It's harder to be a man when it comes to cancel culture sometimes.
