These Pigs Thrive on Grass (not Grain) So I Got 2

- They say these Idaho Pasture pigs, thrive on grass, don’t get crazy big, but don’t take forever to get to harvest weight. So, we bought two piglets to see if they’d be right for our homestead long term.

OK, I’m hooked. Correction, I’m addicted to this loving Family.
“I think they tooted”
“You sure it wasn’t the chidlers?”
We may never know. 😂😂😂
That was so cute.
It's fun to see how special a trip off the farm is for the youngsters!!!
After all these years, I’m still watching your videos! Given everything that’s going on in the last couple of months I’ve finally taking the steps to begin the process of buying some acreage and building a little farmhouse for my son and I. I’m looking forward to having our own Homestead soon enough!
Good for you!
Hello, I am a new follower from Iraq. I wish you luck♥️🇺🇸
Aw man video ended felt like 5 mins, i cant put into words how humble you and your family are, makes me want to get into homesteading but im a fishermen so its somewhat hard to do, but now seeing your progress i may just jump into it on the side.
I listened to the Webinar last night and was amazed by how much I learned about raising your own meat chickens and laying chickens!! While I’m not a premium member and couldn’t ask questions, I learned so much! I’m a 17 yr old from Virginia who’s interested by growing my own food and started my own garden this year too. I hope next year or so I can be a premium member since there are so many plus’s to being one but since I don’t have a job right now and don’t have the money to spend on those plus’s, I will continue learning from these amazing videos!!! I hope you and your entire family stay healthy during this crazy time ❤️
I just got 4 Idaho pasture pigs as well! It will be interesting to see how they grow compared to yours. Thanks for the awesome video as always!
Justin Rhodes, where are your boots 😂

8 year old me would have seen a horse with my same name as a sign from God.

Love the piglets. They settled in quickly. Take care all xx
Nice video Justin! We own a couple of Kune/American Guinea cross sows ourselves. We are currently trying to source a boar so we can begin our breeding program and expand our herd for meat, lawn mowing, and garbage disposal purposes. I love the kune breed. As someone who didn't grow up raising pigs, but knew commercial farmers who did, pigs are hefty scary beasts, which is why families should put a lot of research into what breed would work well for them first. Years ago, a woman in Oregon was eaten to death when she fell into her commercial pig pen. It's horror stories like those that made me think twice before raising them. As for ours, we have never had problems with rooting or mischief. Ours live in goat fencing with no hog panels or underground proofing of any kind. They respect boundaries and don't require harsh correction. Ours are quiet except when food scraps are within their eye sight-then they scream for ice cream (or in this case vegetables). They are slow growing, which is what we wanted since we don't have freezer space right away for a fast feeder pig or a big family to feed. They are so docile and tame, I pet mine everyday and call them by their name and they come to me just like a dog! Did you know that pigs are the world's 3rd smartest animal and have been known to learn obedience commands? Pigs are also used in the medical community to train doctors, since their bodies closely resemble humans. They also are used for certain organ and medical transplants too. Handling from day one on any you plan to keep and breed is key. Ours were scared to death when they came home and now they would follow me to the ends of the Earth, I think. I can't wait to see how your experience goes with these gorgeous creatures. Best of Luck from California!
Good morning from Esperance Western Australia..
Y’all were in my neck of the woods🤗
Love your channel and the pigs are so cute!
You were in my neck of the woods! Cute pigs.
Beautiful little pigs, y'all. So nice natured. Not a peep out of them on the trip. That's a good omen.

Pigs are adorable! What a fun day for kids and Teddy. Lol
Awesome! Beautiful day
Make sure you're combing Teddy where his harness sits! His hair will matt underneath where it rubs on it.
The baby pigs are so cute!! 🐖🐖🐷
Oh wow. Wild to see places I know, but haven't seen in a long time! I have a friend who lives hear Old Fort that went to school in Winston-Salem. I used to drive over to visit her a couple times a month when I lived in East TN.
Good luck with the new pigs, and I hope they work out for you! :3 Love watching your channel, to see all the different types of animals.
Excited to watch these pigs we raise American guinea hogs and have been very interested in this breed
Those pigs look tiny!! 😍 adorable
Cute pigs, hopefully you guys can breed your own like how you breed your own cows. Much love from Missouri
We have a tamworth that he missed the trailer to the stock sale. He ended up staying with our cows. I have noticed he now grazes grass instead of rooting in the ground.
Love your films
ALWAYS KEEP YOUR TANK FULL..

10:44 NICEE MUSIC ))
My fingers are crossed that this breed works out for you! I've watched you go through chicks, calves, lambs and feeder piglets. Breeder piglets seem a step up! Thank you for sharing (:
Hi Justin
that called Farm time Mate there is all ways some think to do
👍👍
Justin , I watched your video on soil blocks and was curious about the watering. Does the soil block break down or wash away? I noticed the last few videos your wife seems to water them well.
First comment. I'm from Ireland
I want those too. Can you let us know if you think they are good for first time pig owners? Thank you for all you do!!
I will.
😃
First comment. 🐣 mucho wood chips. 🌞
I didn't realize White Buffalo has the registration for these guys, I know them! I'm going to shoot them a message, but since these little ones thrive on pasture, would feeding them fodder also negate the point of their breeding?
Are you going to harvest all the sheep the same time? Or, are you saving some for breeding?
The ones you see are ALL for breeding. It's their offspring we'll raise to sell and eat.
I've got a horse named bella
Wake Forest University. Its in Winston Salem.
What were fuel prices for the trip
Saweet
Justin please don't pump gas and then touch your mouth man, if you get sick I won't have anything good to watch :)
Justin, I enjoy your channel, but I don't understand the process here. Just a few weeks ago I saw you feeding hay, which means you don't have enough forage. So what's the thought process behind getting more livestock that consume forage?
No problem, great question. We're going to try them as pig as tillers in the forest. We'll see if they do that. We do need some tiller pigs. However, we're also keen on maybe running them three days behind the cows, instead of chickens, because they are easier to maintain and might be easier to move. We also have options grazing them behind the luchadores.
420!!!
Green grass pigs into bacon thats not bad.😂
Is this breed considered a lard breed or a meat breed? Seems to be a cross of both.
Can we get the recipe for the pie? ;)
Hi
Can you explain what Apple cider vinegar does
www.vinegarguys.com/
What breed of pigs? I’m looking to get 2 for meat this year.
Idaho Pasture Pigs
Hmm i always thought you guys would just get mini potbelly.
Idaho Pasture Pigs seem to be great homestead pigs.
How is your eye?
It's good.
I've been first comment so many times now it scares me😂😩
lol, you sure it wasnt the chidlers? They'll take offence to that someday and blame it on Teddy.
Wow I'm first
Gosh, I really hope and pray Justin, when you filled the petrol up and you handled the gas pump handle you washed your hands before you got back in the car because then you touched your fingers to your lips with a shhhhh signal!!!!! OMG...Please don't do that as the virus is spreading at such an exponential rate around America you run the high risk of infecting you but all your family...it is that invasive!
1 lol
oh my CC button is broken
ty its fixed

Hopefully y'all were able to practice social distancing during that trip. Beautiful animals - I wonder why pigs are so jittery around people? Not like domesticated dogs & cats.
Sure did.
Weird I clicked on the video that’s been up for 36 minutes and no comments are showing?
As a side note, you know people are going to complain about violating social distancing. Right? Now that I have said it, maybe everyone else can hold their comments
I don't think we violated that. Plus, what I'm finding is our audience has turned off the news and is busy planting gardens.
