Brilliant! I especially liked the overlay of historical storytelling and the cave paintings putting dark rides in the Joseph Campbell dialogue. Also the subtle critique of Disney paternalism was just the right touch.
Wonderful video Samuel! It must have taken a lot of effort to build all those virtual sets. I really appreciated the effort. I especially like how you even had that bit about VR roller coasters etc. and tied it back to the Old Mill for immersion. Very progressive of you. I love dark rides and while I am not a fan of VR Rollercoasters, I have built a rough prototype of a Spaceship Earth like darkride in VR and WOW, does it ever work. I have not announced this yet on my channel, but I am going to be building a dark ride in VR for the Oculus Quest and other VR headsets on my channel and show the entire process from start to finish over the next year+. I have not decided what the dark ride will be yet, but perhaps it will be the history of the dark ride as you have done here. If you have a VR device, you will be able to follow along and try out all the alpha versions as we progress. Thanks for the inspiration and I hope to see you in the Metaverse!
The only one you forgot was the multi motion dark ride. Which started with Indiana Jones and the temple of the forbidden eye in 1995 and has evolved into things like Harry Potter and the forbidden journey in 2012.
I know it's like five years too late, but I think rides like Indiana Jones Adventure, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, Revenge of the Mummy ( a unique exception to the coaster rule) and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey are all pretty important parts of dark ride history.
Verry aussom and informative video i had no idea there was a dark ride before the pretzel bros! One thing though you did not talk about is disney's one big hidden secrete they wish to not talk about ......Alien Encounter... I think this ride is part of dark ride history in its own right =) ALSO don't forget about bob gerr he created the omnimover ride system!

Trackless tech was also part of Disney MGM's Tower of Terror as a means to convey the ride vehicles in and out of the sets of elevator shafts.
