    Believe me the screen effects look three times more shocking where you’re really there....I actually experienced weightlessness at the falling part and I still don’t understand how that was achieved till now. All my friends said they felt it too and that was just INCREDIBLE

      It's a trick they play on the mind. You don't actually move at all, but your mind registers you "falling" because of what it sees. :D

      This ride is so amazing i rode it 3 times even with 4 hours waiting time
      When your ship emerged out from the water you can even feel the splash and when the ship exploded you can feel the heat

    This is exactly what a good ratio of screens to practIcsl effects is to me. Everything is practical, except for the things that they physically couldn’t do without a screen, but even then the screens are blended very well with the water and sets.

    • @simonegraffi3698

      Very much agree on that final battle scene. Screens are definitely cheaper but the color contrast between Davy Jones (on screen) and the physical ship breaks the immersion there for me.

    • @PauloNavarro
      @PauloNavarro 6 лет назад +28

      Nick Burgnon I agree, but the video is done on a low light setting which is making the screens look brighter than they really are. Physically going on the ride, the screens are more subdued.

  • @Liz_ArdE
    @Liz_ArdE 6 лет назад +3026

    This ride is great proof that screens don't have to be ride killers. There are just some things you can't do practically, and when time and care is put into a screen effect then it can work. Sadly this amount of effort is rarely seen and that's a real shame.

      I agree with you and have a feeling the Battle Escape attraction will have both immersive high resolution video, realistic animatronics and an innovative ride system(s). Plural because there is a rumor guests will disembark one vehicle only to board another. Doesn't seem practical. Maybe you will choose sides, 2 different vehicles, on e for each side. Am I crazy or have they shown 2 different vehicles?

      Star Wars Land will probably have this immersive experience but done 10x better. Usually when it comes to new attraction technology Disney tips their toe in for the initial attraction, and then the next attractions they improve on them. For example, the success of the new Space Mountain technology in Florida, not only made them add one for Anaheim but improved upon it.

    Grew up at Disneyland, first job ever - Disneyland. Worked at Disney world. Went to Shanghai this past year. This ride was incredible! The movement of the boat matches the screens. As your boat “sinks” and “rises” the boat shakes and lifts and the water moves around you. Even though you are fully aware you are safe and not truly under water your body might have a really strange reaction. It felt similar to scuba diving, where you know you can breathe...but your body also thinks you shouldn’t be able to? We road this four times in one day, and I would ride it a million more. The animatronics are beautifully done and their movements are almost graceful

    I went on this twice and the first time, at the end where you see Jack Sparrow with all the treasures, you can hear Davy Jones' voice in the speakers where he laughs, saying "fool, no one can get the treasure," the treasure becomes seaweed and Jack Sparrow is devastated. The second time I went, they changed the ending and just had him sing in celebration. I liked the first one way better since there are signs at the exit that say "no one keeps the gold, mate" and I think it fits with the first ending much better. I wonder why they changed...But definitely worth the experience. It's the best Pirates of the Caribbean ride in my opinion

    • @kingwrister
      @kingwrister 3 года назад +1

      They actually play both endings now- I think its alternately cuz when I was there last year our boat got the seaweed ending but we could hear the celebration singing for the boat behind us, so that's pretty cool

The animatronic's range of movement and detailed articulation is insane, they managed to capture Jack's signature way of moving and expressing so perfectly. Davy Jones looked goddamn amazing too, like he just leapt out of the film with that octopus face.

    What is truly amazing about this ride, that this video fails to capture, is the amazing sound system, and also the way the vehicles speed up, slow down, and pivot. These elements are incorporated so well that they enhance, not detract from, the overall experience. Same with the screens. When on the ride, they blend so much better than what you see on a video. This truly is the greatest Disney attraction on the planet. Anyone who says otherwise either hasn’t been on this, or is blinded by nostalgia!

    Mark my words: Cinema in the future will be like this. It will transform you into the world instead of only showing it on a two dimensional Screen. I am telling people this for at least ten years now. In the future, people will laugh at our kind of cinema as we laugh at cinema in the early days. I just Hope I will experience it.
