I swear Paris just does things right. So glad they survived. That outdoor restaraunt scene has got to be the most realistic version on any pirates ride.
I remember when the Blue Bayou at Disneyland still served a proper good meal in the 1970s until Eisner came in and turned the parks into shopping malls.
This was not only some of the best water-based indoor attractions I've ever tried, but also some of the most unique and original marketing ideas I've ever witnessed. I went to DisneyLand Paris back in 2005 with my best friend and our respective mums. I was 10, he was 11 and this was the first ride we went on as soon as we arrived at the park, to kinda "test the field", you know. We were so enthusiastic about it that we actually went on it three times in a row. After that I insisted we would go have dinner at the restaurant that you encountered early on the ride as I was just fascinated by that and couldn't resist it. 1:05 It didn't matter if it was going to be any good or not, I had to try it. They all agreed and we went one night and not only did it look as cool as I imagined, the food was also very good. Amazing memories ...
I got stuck in the cave at 8:03 for 30 mins because a lady with a crying toddler decided to jump off the ride when she saw that the tunnel with the drop was coming. "This is too traumatizing for my baby, are they crazy???" and just got up and walked among the dozens of animatronics of pirates swinging their swords around hahaha. The ride stopped for everybody a few seconds later, the animatronics froze, the lights went on, and after 30 mins a poor employee wearing fisherman pants came and dragged every single coach to the closest platform with an emergency exit by hand. I hope that guy is getting paid well
That is sad I went on thu ride 3 times the first I was holding onto the guard rail for the seats like that guy in the cell in Salazar's revenge the second I wore some pirate stuff less afraid and yelled arrr on the first and second drop the third time not wearing pirate stuff didn't yell arr but still a bit terrified kinda traumatized by heights and water
Sounds like the same kind of parent that would buy their underage child Grand Theft Auto and then complain to the company and news that their kid is now using slurs.
@@Sailormoonc3038 Of course No, DLP is the best of the classics. Shangai is a different ride like full Remake of the attraction and awesome too but with screens.
One thing I love about this version is the abundance of palm trees and foliage. It gives it a more caribbean vibe than the other versions imo. Also the beginning scene with the beach is perfect.
This pirates version actually took some cues from history. There is a history of French piracy. Not every pirate came from England. Some are obscure. During the age of piracy the entire Caribbean was constantly being fought over by the 4 powers of the day the English, French, Portugal, and Spain. The English eventually managed to get Port Royal and keep it until it slid it the ocean from a massive earthquake. We still are finding buried artifacts down there. It just never ended until the Caribbean broke into the various nations you see today.
i do quite enjoy the beginning a bit more because everything looks cleaner and you aren’t automatically submerged in darkness then the drop then the scenes. (I’ve only been to the Florida one)
It changed! It changed! It changed! There are some things different with model few years ago..... But I think DISNEYLAND PARIS is an interesting version no less than Disneyland SHANGHAI
I never been to Disneyland Paris yet but wow just watching the video of the ride this looks like the best one yet I wish Disney world would update there’s a bit better !
I enjoy this one but Anaheim is still the best. They have the old man in the rocker with banjo music in the background which sets the mood so well. The drop that follows immediately puts you in another world mindset. The Jack Sparrow animatronics in this one is kind of unneeded too imo lol
Pirates in California and Tokyo is based in New Orleans which is in Louisiana. You make the trip to the Caribbean through the drops and the caves. BTW, I like the order of this ride the best out of all of them. I’m used to Disneyland so when you switch it around, it fascinates me.
Gosh, never seen this. Wasn't this how the water looked across from Pirates in California with the ship being a restaurant? (which would be so cool if they reimplemented that!)
This has a different order as the one in Anaheim. I should go to Paris Disneyland and ride this version of the Pirates Of The Caribbean. This ride is one of my many favorite Disney rides. I haven't rode this version of this ride before. One day I'll go visit Paris Disneyland and ride this ride. ;)
I hated that drop on the ride. I remember crying because I hate rollercoasters, and I didn’t know that not only was it going to drop, but it was going to do it twice 😭
This is better than Disney world in Orlando. I like the opening seen. All the fake carbian palm tress, and tents looks like a carbian Arabian knights. I love the idea if a ending of ride getting off in a tent covered dinner area. With fake sand and a set of tables reserved for your party to set eat, and drink as much dr. Pepper as yeah want. After getting off the ride. I always thought a dinning area should have been set aside for food and drink. As lets face it that what the people in the carbian did in the earl evning.
Honestly this version of Pirates looks near perfect, even though I’ve never experienced it in person. My only complaint is Captain Jack Sparrow at the end. I just don’t know if he necessarily fits there in that scene because all the Pirates are supposed to be dead and the only thing that’s supposed to show are their skeletons (and it gives the ride a very unique ending). I know this probably would have been expensive, but maybe they could have added him before the second drop (he escapes before the building explodes).
I went on this not long ago and no joke didn't feel any drop like I have no memory of it at all and still don't know where it is, maybe cause I was sat at the back but idk. Sick ride tho
Shanghai clearly does it the best, but this is nevertheless leagues above the experience at the original parks. Hindsight is 20/20 though. It is easier for them to learn from their older rides and apply those lessons to constructing new rides in new locations than it is to completely change the setup of existing attractions. In that sense, we, the original and main parks in America, will always have it the worst, as we get the worst versions of each possible attraction. It isn't done that way intentionally, but that's nevertheless the product of multi-national theme park development.
It feels like the ride is going backwards in time. At Walt Disney World, when the pirates are locked up and whistling to the dog, that is towards then, but on this ride at Disneyland Paris, it's towards the beginning. Plus, this ride has two drops in it...which is cool and you may get wet on this ride. I still love the Walt Disney World version better.
Out of curiosity, why you find the WDW version better? It doesn't even have the bayou opening scene with the cabins, the restaurant and the tents with the fireflies. I've ridden the California, Paris and Florida version and the Florida version was a huge disappointment to me, like: talking about a soulless cuttout copy from the original with no unique flavor to it. The Paris version is to me truely the best one, since it does interesting things on it's own to stand out. Like an elaborate queue with skeletons behind bars, the idea of reversing the original, 2 drops instead of 1, and the overall flow of the ride is an improvement actually. Tho I have to say the cave scene at the end felt a bit empty. Not the best version of that part of the ride, gotta be honest on that one. But overall, the Paris one is the one that truely makes me feel i'm in the caribbean. All this is personal opinion tho. So yeah, enlighten me. Why do you love the WDW version more. I love to know.
i was kinda disapointed with this ride bc i had to wait an hour just for it to stop near the prisoners part ( 4:23 ) and we had to get out from the platform on the side and it was in disneyland paris so the exact same ride lol
As someone who also hated drops a year ago, the drops in this are absolutely fine and the second drop is tamer than the first one! Also if you enjoy that ride, try parachute drop and tower of terror to help with your fear of drops (you can watch the povs of them too)
It’s kinda ironic how in this version of the ride they kept the original pirate captain, but they changed the Wicked Wench into the Black Pearl! But over-here in California they replaced the original Pirate Captain with Captain Barbossa, but they kept the Wicked Wench! Lol
I like that they kept with the older theme of pirates chasing/selling women, because pirates were bad people m'kay. Also was it just me or did those boats look small.
