That’s the idea he’s the person that we actually have to hate and despise but the way Altman directed it makes you sympathetic for him even though you would really hate him in real life
One of the best Hollywood ironic/self-deprecating films ever. The film is mainly an ironic commentary on the mass-produced action movies and star actors of the 80s and 90s, but Hollywood is even worse off today than it was during this era, when superhero movies ruled the roost.
And the Marvel/ DC superheros crap has infected TV too. If you don't like franchise superhero movies there's going to be fewer reasons for me to visit a cinema.
What about the Dues ex machinas of the eyewitness losing her marbles and ID'ng Lyle Lovett instead and Griffin's boss (Levinson) getting axed because Reggie Gold from the bank in Boston getting the clap? I know it was done on purpose but I really laughed at those parts and they played a big part in the turnabout of Griffin's fortunes
I always loved that ending - just what the writer said he didn't want.
When they have Julia Roberts in the movie at the end I died. They mention her every time there’s a movie pitch made. Lol
So many layers. She was playing herself playing in a movie in this movie.
I don’t root for Griffin Mill, but this is without a doubt in my top ten favorite movies

Such a great ending

This strongly believe that Robert Altman was at the peak of his powers when he made this. This is one of the excellent movies I've ever seen 💯
it was nice movie...
They were making fun of the state of movies in 1992 and its gotten so much worse since then lol
... wished we had such movie directors lik Robert Altman today ... with all that mess ... to give us more clearness 🙂
Need to see this
Griffen finds his humanity after he feels guilt
Ooooh i feel that I would like this. Check out the Mistress, it's compared to this and it's divine.
Great movie
