Food and/or water or even ammo are always great motivation to go somewhere in post-apocalyptic settings. " After a morning inventory of your provisions, you discover that your supplies have decayed... likely from the questionable no-man's land you recently crossed."

i ran this as my level 1 adventure after Danger in the Air as the funnel. it began to form this fun weird science fiction pulp feel. i decided to eventually take them to the purple planet and was pleasantly surprised by my accidental genius when i realized the green stones in this adventure are the same ones (seemingly) from there.
i also didnt do all 10 rounds in the village, i think i did basically 3, then a big showdown on the shore, and they chased "yoda" back into the obelisk. then after one of the warriors nearly got one shot twice by the giant croc in the water in the room with the warlord, they rested. when they finally came out of the Obelisk, they found out they were on another world completely alien to them (really it was a far off continent) and thus began a trend of dimension and world hopping. very Quantam Leap.

Great review, it helped me a lot to decide to purchase this adventure! 🙂
I'm planning to run this as the second adventure in my upcoming DCC campaign after The Portal Under the Stars. When the PCs (hopefully) return to their village as fresh level-1 characters after surviving the portal they will find it under attack from the beakmen and their strange obelisk! 👾
I'm looking forward to running this and also to more DCC adventure reviews on this channel! 🙂

recommend Sly Flourish's dmg books for quick hook tables for PC's to care about an adventure. Maybe one of them has a sibling in the village, or they've won a boat in a card game they want to retrieve. Great criticisms and advice wasabiburger.

Cool! I'm looking forward to running Sailors as my first DCC adventure and it's good to have ideas where to go from there. Sounds like a fun one you had with this 😁

@@wasabiburger3047 Awesome! 😆 Were gonna have a group who doesn't have the opportunity to play together often as we live apart these days but we're meeting over a weekend and there's definitely going to be beer, whiskey, pizza and such involved so DCC chaos sounds amazing!

The walls shown on the map can look like they are showing thickness of the floor. Once you can see the walls as walls and recognize the stairs as which way they are going the map looks normal, but it is a poor design for the walls.

I was actually thinking it could make a good one shot AP so that's not out of the question since between the maps and the pacing, it'd be a real fun one to record!

      SPOILER:
I may have fumbled my Magic Missiles but creating a stay-puft Frog god was the best thing I’ve ever done in a ttrpg. You did an excellent job running this module. Lots of fun.
