Y'know what I especially love about Harn? (And this is party of why I enjoy Mythras, too...) The mundane world is so well-covered that fantastic stuff feels fantastic again, and if you stick something really absurd somewhere, you have an immediate sense of how it might influence the world. I slapped The Halls of Arden Vul (one of the best megadungeons ever btw) right down in Chybisa. Everyone knew that it was a place that existed. Chybisa itself simply didn't have the resources to check it out, Kaldor and Melderys both hoped to explore and chart it as soon as they took over. Chybisa was sending mercenaries down into the mountain to see if there might be something to help them retain their sovreignty (spoiler: there's plenty.)
Glad you came around some. The Articles are a superior format, IMO. They allow you to purchase what you want/need and bring only certain ones to game night. I do wish GC would make pdfs free, but I don't see that happening.
I have recently fallen into the world of Harn. I have spent entirely too much time and money on Kaldor & Azadmere product and am enjoying every minute of it. I also picked up the HarnManor supplement, definitely an interesting read if you dig this kind of thing. I second that they should publish and stock these all as hardback over loose leaf. Super bummed I can't collect most core modules in hardback today.
Always nice to see other people who fell into this world recently :D I just got my Azadmere hardback a few weeks ago and love it. Excited to get all the kingdoms in Hardback when they all release!
As if Kaldor could conquer Melderyn...pfft. :) You just made this grognard want to dust off the GIANT 3 ring binder of castle maps, religions and kingdoms in my Harn box.
lmao when I was editing I was like "damn it, when I was riffing I should have flipped who would have conquered who cuz Kaldor would get their ass handed to them by Melderyn" :D
Thanks for the review. I picked up from discussions on the Kickstarter Kingdom items, that there is a plan to release hardback HarnMaster rules as well, after all the Kingdoms are released. It will be an edited version, so ruleset 3.5v2 or even 4.0. I suppose that will come with the PDF as well. Certainly something I look forward to. I dont mind ring binders, but the quality of the books, certainly gives an even better feeling. Im not sure, and I am curious about, what is planned next after that? Like hardback versions of other semi-rule, larger articles, fx. Harnmanor, barbarians, religion, gargun (orcs), magic, etc.
Nope, just looked it up and it looks like the Hardcover is 80 USD and the accompanying PDF is sold separately at 30 USD. That is absolutely not worth it, in my opinion. 80 USD is fine cuz it's nice quality and a lot of content but 110 for Print+PDF is asking way too much. secure.columbiagames.com/product/5001HC
When they did the kickstarters for the hardbacks, they threw in the PDFs as well. Maybe the next Kickstarter (for Evael, for example) will give you an option like that. Also, check out their current deal for the hardcovers on their website.

Yeah absolutely! Throwing in Arden Vul in is a fantastic idea! I may have to steal it!
Good review. I'm an oldtimer that has been a fan of all things Harn since about 1983. And it just keeps getting better.
Thanks for your detailed review. It's engaging and well done.
How do I contact you to send you some material?

Have they updated Harn Manor?
I would love to see this world 8n live play. I want to play and or run in world.
I used to play Harshlands, a rpimud based off this setting. Even though I didn't know everything about the setting , loved it.

Are the Pdfs offered when you buy the hardbacks?
