Live for the day you’ve been given. It’s a common theme, but the saying resonated with me. I hope I can take it to heart. Good points today. 💞

I am in Illinois, brr - it is cold here. I was growing up in beautiful Europe and came here as 28 years young lady, leaving the whole family behind. You are so lucky to have a huge family of 50 + people. I am not that LUCKY- it's complicated. After this video I am going to change my attitude and will go beck to life! Dear Nanny, I love you so much! I tell everyone I know about you. I say it is like watching me at 87 because I also love jewelry, makeup, nails, hairstyles, fashion, thrifting, crafting, sewing , and lots of stuff in my house!!!!!!!!! I also taught school. I know that feeling of getting closer to the end of life, I will be 75 on February 25, but I have decided to live each day and pray! I also get together with my friends, my sisters and my cousins. I go to the YMCA 3 days a week for water aerobics and have made new friends there too!! I also know that it is important to have young friends who can drive you around when that day comes. . . I was a caregiver to my mom for almost 5 years and she had dementia at the end, but I educated myself the best I could and got all the help I needed for respite which is very important for caregivers. You are amazing, so get back to crafting or sewing or painting the things that bring you joy! You have an awesome family and I love watching your gatherings and swap days! I have 2 sons and they will not want any of my stuff, I'm sure, but oh well LOL. PS love Moose too!
Nanny, I am 75 years of age. Your content in this video hit home in so many ways. I have been in a funk for many reasons lately, The weather as I live, In Illinois, not enjoying the cold, worrying how much time I have left on this wonderful planet and wanting and needing more time with my daughters who are in different states. I do spend time with some of my Great Grandchildren who live locally, they bring me much joy. I love to shop like you. I love clothing, decorating, antiquing and gardening. I push myself to do many things and not sit idle...however this last year I find my self slowing down. I decided to wash my walls in my small 1200 square townhome. ( I downsized from a much larger home) So I have rented a storage unit for "all my stuff" the over flow. I even had an estate sale when I sold my previous home. It was a success for sure. I am not yet ready to part with the rest. I had to take many breaks and sit but it gave me such a feeling of accomplishment, at the same time I still have to finish 4 rooms. What I use to finish in a day now takes me several. I want to compliment you on how lovely you always look. Today was even more so. I think it was the color beige on you. It compliments your hair, and skin tone. My significant other who is 80, also loves to watch your videos. You are an inspiration to many including Moosey. His wit and attitude of dealing with his health set backs are so inspiring. I know you are a diabetic as I am, my significant other, as many of us our dealing with this disease. Can you give some insight as to how you stay in check with it? My doctor wants me to start on metformin and I keep putting it off. (in the interim, my numbers keep going up and it definitely does not help with my how I feel most days). I appreciate that you gave a little history/recap on your family, and life. I have been taking Metformin for 20 years now, my friend…and I have been able to keep my numbers in check without much effort…exercise,diet,etc…Fortunately, I prefer the foods that are best for me…but I still enjoy the ‘no.no’s like pasta,etc once in awhile….and I don’t eat much during the day until supper..Stay well and God bless…❤️🙏

You did the "placebo effect" on your kids! I've done that on my kids and grandkids too! Often I'll give them a tea which I'll swear is known to cure whatever ails them and usually it does, or at least makes them feel better for a while. 😊

Interesting stories today. Reminded me of when my mom would fill a coffee can with water, hand me a paint brush and ask me to paint the steps on a sunny day when I was a kid. It kept me busy for quite awhile, as the water kept drying up and I had to paint it again. You look nice in your carmel colored sweater. Good story about the magic pills. Amazing how the power of suggestion works. When I was working in a day care once, there was a two year old boy who was in his "No Stage" and refused to take his nap. He insisted on keeping the other kids awake as well.(Part of the fun). I will admit to tricking him, telling him he couldn't take his nap and had to help me make sandwiches for snack instead. He insisted on taking his nap and was asleep in five minutes. Reverse psychology I think. Not sure if was regulation but at least it worked. That's my story. The mantle does look a little more plain. I'm waiting to see if there will be valentine's decoration. Good advice today. I'm feeling that way lately. Thinking about my life, how long will I be around, etc. You can't get too bogged down with or won't be able to do much. Anyway, you have lived such a full life, and continue to do so. Very blessed. I understand … I have been kinda funky today! Glad to hear talk about this! I am 77 … my husband moved to Heaven in July 2021! It’s been quite a trying 3 1/2 years! I am also an Introvert … I was always the child that entertained myself … so guess that’s when it started! And … my sister was 7 years older than me and baby brother 7 years younger than me! So I believe that helped it along! I have days when I feel good and clean and decorate but I also have a second bedroom that is a storage unit! lol Need to purge … and I have be thinking of setting my apartment up to simplify it! We have been taught to ‘’plan for the future, and live in the moment’’ in order to savor each day as a gift. For those of us in the AA And al-anon families this is a life savor. The serenity prayer ends, ‘’just for today, thy will not mine shall be done’’. This helps me live a sane life.
I don't want my family to spend hours or days figuring what to do with my stuff...so, yes, I do not leave lots of stuff that I no longer need, and that goes to rid myself of papers, etc when no longer needed. It's very liberating.

Loved this video today! I have always told our granddaughter and great granddaughter about the fairies living in our garden. My great G D. always asks me, when can I see them? I told her that you have to get up real early in the morning, to catch a glimpse of them. We always made a fairy garden. Such fun. Hobby Lobby usually has calendars when you walk in the entry way area. Also, there's a pretty good Goodwill across the street from the bagel place you went to the other day. We used to go to that swapmeet at the college all the time to look for vintage/antique things. Great stories!

I remember your catalogue. My favorite thing to do back through the 70s and 80s was smocking. I would smock little dresses and sew `bits of lace into the sleeves. I ordered a special piece of lace to stitch onto a baby bonnet for a baby gift. That was my favorite purchase from you. Well, it seems that she had a little boy and the bonnet was never worn as far as I ever knew.
I've worked in nursing a huge part of my life. Elderly care and I can't tell you the ages I've seen. One lady lived to 103 and she of course wasn't perfectly fit. Issues came from age but she would sit at meals and have a blast with others and was so sharp! You just don't know.
Nanny, you can get really nice calendars at Funeral Homes, they are the perfect size to write appointments on. You just walk in and ask for one. They are beautiful and free.

You did the "placebo effect" on your kids! I've done that on my kids and grandkids too! Often I'll give them a tea which I'll swear is known to cure whatever ails them and usually it does, or at least makes them feel better for a while. 😊

Interesting stories today. Reminded me of when my mom would fill a coffee can with water, hand me a paint brush and ask me to paint the steps on a sunny day when I was a kid. It kept me busy for quite awhile, as the water kept drying up and I had to paint it again. You look nice in your carmel colored sweater. Good story about the magic pills. Amazing how the power of suggestion works. When I was working in a day care once, there was a two year old boy who was in his "No Stage" and refused to take his nap. He insisted on keeping the other kids awake as well.(Part of the fun). I will admit to tricking him, telling him he couldn't take his nap and had to help me make sandwiches for snack instead. He insisted on taking his nap and was asleep in five minutes. Reverse psychology I think. Not sure if was regulation but at least it worked. That's my story. The mantle does look a little more plain. I'm waiting to see if there will be valentine's decoration. Good advice today. I'm feeling that way lately. Thinking about my life, how long will I be around, etc. You can't get too bogged down with or won't be able to do much. Anyway, you have lived such a full life, and continue to do so. Very blessed. I understand … I have been kinda funky today! Glad to hear talk about this! I am 77 … my husband moved to Heaven in July 2021! It’s been quite a trying 3 1/2 years!
I am also an Introvert … I was always the child that entertained myself … so guess that’s when it started! And … my sister was 7 years older than me and baby brother 7 years younger than me! So I believe that helped it along!
I have days when I feel good and clean and decorate but I also have a second bedroom that is a storage unit! lol Need to purge … and I have be thinking of setting my apartment up to simplify it!
Where I can clean … make my bed easier, etc.

We have been taught to ‘’plan for the future, and live in the moment’’ in order to savor each day as a gift. For those of us in the AA And al-anon families this is a life savor. The serenity prayer ends, ‘’just for today, thy will not mine shall be done’’. This helps me live a sane life.

I don't want my family to spend hours or days figuring what to do with my stuff...so, yes, I do not leave lots of stuff that I no longer need, and that goes to rid myself of papers, etc when no longer needed. It's very liberating.

Loved this video today! I have always told our granddaughter and great granddaughter about the fairies living in our garden. My great G D. always asks me, when can I see them? I told her that you have to get up real early in the morning, to catch a glimpse of them. We always made a fairy garden. Such fun. Nanny, I remember that you were featured in the “Victoria” magazine, but In one of our moves, I lost a box of them. Do you remember the year that was? Sure would like that magazine again. Hobby Lobby usually has calendars when you walk in the entry way area. Also, there's a pretty good Goodwill across the street from the bagel place you went to the other day. We used to go to that swapmeet at the college all the time to look for vintage/antique things. Great stories!

I've worked in nursing a huge part of my life. Elderly care and I can't tell you the ages I've seen. One lady lived to 103 and she of course wasn't perfectly fit. Issues came from age but she would sit at meals and have a blast with others and was so sharp! You just don't know.
