The glass doors do make the area look bigger and it's nice that you can see the lovely items that are stored. The solution for the gap worked perfectly and looks like it was meant to be that way!

What a lovely and inspiring vlog to wake up to, here in my 12th week of lockdown in New Zealand! I’m about to purchase an Ikea Billy bookcase with three glass doors to replace my traditional dresser in the kitchen as a china storage cabinet. I have decided to make my fine dinner ware and tea-sets more accessible for everyday use (as you do in your home) and therefore be able to enjoy the beauty of seeing them and using them daily. Love your videos and I hope many support your site by watching the ads - or replaying each vlog a few more times? 😉😅💖🇳🇿
I love seeing the mess everywhere half way through the wardrobe revamp, it’s cheers me up because that’s exactly what I’m like 😂😂. Nothing like having a mini makeover and a clear out to make the whole world seem a little better 😉🥰
As soon as I hear your intro music, I start to smile. We all LOVE LOVE LOVE spending time with you, Catherine!! Blondie was doing a great job of supervising!! Xxx
You go Girl! Tear into those walls to give yourself some more storage space. Ask your brothers. You'll know if you hit a major beam, then stop. You can put your summer/winter clothes in there. You know how to hang a door to hide the closet. You just do it! I know you can. Please film it though, you are tres inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
It looks lovely and, despite your modest opinion of your work, is Pinterest-worthy! As part of my husband's profession (he has his own business), he does renovations and repairs, so I can tell you that you filled the gap exactly correctly. It is perfect. And the 3 baskets were just right. I can't wait for the "door into Narnia!" (You always crack me up.) You will definitely want a professional to come in to determine where your electrical and plumbing are running behind the walls - don't want you flooding your beautiful home or electricuting yourself! ❤
You did such a great job with the makeover and you really can’t tell that you had to add another piece of wood to hide the gap. It works really well! 😊
It's hard to believe that there is still anywhere in the house that can be made over, but this was a big improvement. Why not see your pretties even when not in use? Great job!!
The new doors make a big difference. I admire the way you're willing to give anything a go. There's so much I want to do, but I don't trust myself. I've a load of things bought for different projects, but they're just gathering dust! 😂😂
I must say Catherine “that’s a job well done” you’ve certainly pulled it out of the bag, and I look forward to seeing what you’ve decided to do with that extra storage space too, tfs x Julie
Brilliant job, Katherine! Very clever to use the scrap wood to hide the gap. I thought it was genius to stick to the door instead of blocking your storage
with very limited space I'm thrilled to have ordered my first Ikea item, a thin tall six shelf unit called the Billy. I found we have an Ikea on my Island and though they didn't have what I wanted in stock, they quickly ordered it for me and it's come from abroad, can't wait to get it for my books.
Your little cubby hole was fab. I was thinking exactly the same as you about the gap. (Screw the wood to the back of the door) Great minds 😊 One little thing you could do is put a little light inside the top to show off your flowers ❤
I just swapped out 3 handles on a cabinet and thought I did something amazing...until I saw your video. Incidentally, I think that cabinet IS Pinterest worthy! I love that you put the piece of wood on the door and not on the cabinet. I think it looks like it was supposed to be like that. And it gives you more room to move stuff around in the cabinet. Great job!
Making more storage of those spaces will be great. I have seen people make dressers in there, putting in drawers for recessed dresser. A lady I follow her blog she has, like you were saying for the doors on the side of you couch, doors for storage of her Christmas decorations. Use every bit you can. Love your solution for your new doors, looks normal.
I love these “sprucing up my space” videos you’ve been doing! You are slowly ploughing through you house making it perfect in every detail! Very inspirational!
I love that you put the glass doors in. Make’s it look so much homey looking. I think you ought to do the knee wall idea. That space is golden. You could put all your seasonal items in there.
The area does look great with the glass doors.. You are so brave to take on that kind of a project. I am beginning to think that there is nothing you can’t do. Ann from Va. USA 🇺🇸
I love the glass, I think the door pulls you had on before would play off the glass inserts. It always amazes me how you tackle so many projects. So nice that you have an Ikea close by.
You did a fantastic job on your doors! Today I donated some of my no longer needed “stuff” to the Humane Society. I am enjoying decluttering around my home lately also!
I think the glass doors do make the space look bigger! I think the solid doors just closed the space in. I think it turned out wonderfully be proud of yourself! your brother is so funny! thanks for sharing! oxo
I have to say I admire your talent for so many things you can do. Your Beret is precious on you and it would look great at your book signing. Of course I love Blondie. Every thing looks great ❤️
You are such a darling! An incredible motivator whose confidence and enthusiasm make me feel quite pathetic lol. I wouldn’t dream of touching a jigsaw! The cabinet makeover is gorgeous too. Well done that girl 👍🏻👍🏻
Girl! Ya did it again!! It looks awesome! I think the glass doors bring in some depth and as a result makes the space appear bigger! I was totally thinking, put the strip on the back end of the door so it gives the illusion that it’s a shelf (what are they called…) brace? Divider? But you don’t block access to the actual shelf… and you did just that! Felt as right as rain that I was channeling my inner Dainty as I watched heehee! Great minds and all that! 😄. Do we still get a Thursday video as well?!😃🤗🙏🏽
Such perfect solution, it looks lovely. Yes, it does make the space look more spacious and the pretty stuff behind the glass doors looks nice. You could even put battery operated/ rechargeable spotlights in for extra cosy look and light. Well done, it must be extra nice now coming up the stairs.
Oh Dainty (Catherine) you always brighten my day!! ✨I think since we haven’t had people in our homes for so long, we ALL have those piles somewhere in our homes 😊 The storage in the knee walls is an excellent idea and a great selling feature if you ever move! I store my out of season bedding and clothes in one and my closet rail is in another.
Look at Blondie - she's knackered, poor girl! Loved the end result, especially the insert on the doors, fab idea. I would have put crystal faceted handles on, purely because I love them, and they're so light reflective. They're also easier for my older hands to grasp without your smacking my nails, which I wear long.
Hi Catherine, the cupboard look’s lovely with the glass doors, you did a great job. And I’m glad you attached the plank of wood to the door, much easier access. Opening the eaves in your bedroom would add great storage, good idea getting someone in to check it out. Enjoy the rest of your week 😊💖
I think you did a great job adding that strip of wood. Idk how old your home is, but that's exactly what a carpenter would have done back in the day, so I think it actually looks like it has always been like that🤔
Lol Catherine so funny about you needing up your Tuesday and Thursday, I do things all the time like that. No worries it just means we got to enjoy another one of your videos 2 days sooner. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I love how your doors and your closet turned out. Good idea have great day or in your case evening.
Brilliant job, Catherine! Excellent solution to the gap! Your videos make my week ❤️ If you feel the landing is dark, you could add some LED lights spotlighting or backlighting the flowers.
Oh how fabulous, you have a beautiful house, and I’m amazed at how you come up with such great ideas for improving. You certainly aren’t afraid to tackle jobs yourself. Fantastic Catherine, all credit to you girl. Hugs x
I know I'm late to the party but to be fair you were very early (we all get confused by dates from time to time 😊) Great idea to attach the strip to the door rather than the shelves. Not only do the new doors make the area look bigger, but brighter too if that makes sense. I would imagine it would be easy to put some battery operated led lights in there if you wanted a little bit of light in the area for night time or something. I have always referred to those kind of behind the wall areas as attic crawl spaces. The previous owners used to use them, but we just don't have a need for them at the time as we have a full basement as well, which can hold a lot of stuff. lol. I am like you, I can not function if there is a mess. My brain just seems to focus on how the mess needs to be cleaned and I can't focus on the task at hand. Thank you for yet another tip! I swear you are just full of them, but I love it all.
Love your makeover Catherine, as you were propping the piece of wood up I was saying stick it to the door, which you did. Great minds eh? It makes the cupboard look bigger and adds a touch of colour at the top of your stairs, which you could change seasonally (if you could be bothered lol) I love your idea for the built in cupboards behind the walls too, so much "stuff" needs storage! xxx
I love your projects. Doors turned out wonderful. I thought you were going to add the strip of wood to the front of one of the doors but love the way you attach it behind instead. Great job! ☺️ hopefully you can make that added space behind he walls. That would e great. Have a great rest of your week.💕🌸

Love the wardrobe hack!! The storage will be so handy in the bedroom, I'm thinking can you squeeze in a cabrio balcony in there too! :)
Your idea for that gap is wonderful. Does not obstruct your shelves. Great job as always!
I love it! You never sit still, you’re always creating! You go girl!!
That is so clever sticking that wooden strip to the door! Genius!
