I quit Facebook and Instagram and I never looked back. It’s been over five years now and I haven’t missed it. You are so right, having social media did not make me feel good. I still use tumblr though, it’s fun.
In rhe early 19th century, they used to make the flour sacks out if nice cotton material in beautiful patterns. This was so the wife could make clothing for her children. 😮😍
My first thought was: omg, you are so beautiful! My second thought was: this video gives positive energy! I've been decluttering for about 2 years. I definitely need to sort out my plants, I love most of them😅 I keep them around as gifts for my friends instead of buying new items.
I'm not into holiday cards either, my parents love them but I just don't care. Honestly I find it such a waste of money to pay $5 for a card. Great video friend :)
I realized several years ago that I’m only doing holiday cards because everyone else is! And it feels like it’s a waste of money for me because we look at the card for 5 seconds and then never again! We can keep track of families on social media, now, too. It led me down a journey of questioning everything our family was doing - am I doing this because I genuinely want to? Or because it’s the “norm”?
Just as I clicked on your video, I opened my kitchen cupboard and was faced with busted up and disused flasks and drinking bottles, I guess this video is my cue to declutter 😅
Hi Becky, hope you're having a great holiday! Loved this video with lots of great ideas and tips. I've unsubscribed from YT videos promoting excess clothes, home stuff, etc. They just make me want more. I'm following more minimalism and simple living channels. I've decided to do a low-buy 2025 with some very specific rules for myself.
I do one big purchase for my house before Christmas when everything is on Sale. I buy clothes once per quarter, based on season needs. About 6-8 items. I buy food biweekly. When I get salary I send money into investment accounts immediately, pay bills and live with what I have. Normally about 20 percents from the salary. But! I have my own house, I am 40+ and I have enough and my elder kids live separately though I still have 3 living with me😂. My house life is established, I have what I need.
Amazon was a big problem for me because you got your item immediately with prime. I got rid of Amazon about 5 years and have not bought anything from them since then. I was still able to shop (and a lot, sorry to say) but I don't have that immediate gratification.
Hi, I would love to see photos or clips of what your house was like before you started your journey to declutter. To see a before and now would really be good to see what we can achieve. I'm in a self-doubt and guilt stage of realizing what money I have spent or wasted and feel guilt to just give it away when we are short of m9ney ourselves.
FYI: check with your donation centers about drop offs before they open. My donation center informed me anything dropped off before they open is considered dumping and they will throw it away.
Enjoying your videos, especially this one. I also love my flour sack towels and use some as simple curtains. We all could benefit from far less stuff. The simpler, the better.
Digital clutter!! My phone makes me remove unnecessary apps every once in a while so that's fine, but I hoard screenshots of every single thought, quote, gift idea, film, book, sale, coupon code (that DO EXPIRE!!) and it becomes impossible to sort through or find anything there. I either find things accidentally or don't find them at all. Really need to sit down and declutter that folder but most importantly avoid this in the future. If you have any system for storing digital stuff would highly appreciate that! P.S. Where do you live? I was so amazed to see those shiny views, where I live it's been gloomy for, like, forever 🥲
Hi Becky, I hope you're having a great holiday I really enjoyed this video & I'm already looking for stuff to donate/get rid of 😊 - I receive a few Christmas cards, but I haven't sent any for years now, instead of spending money on cards & postage I donate money to some animal charities instead. ❤️
My digital clutter is a problem for me, especially keeping emails with marketing savings...This coming year, one of my goals will be decluttering the emails...Grr it is a big job!!
New sub😊 I go through all mail @ the recycle bin if I need to shred I’ll do that right away. We don’t have a mail bin in the house. I also don’t keep cards.
I want to declutter furniture. I made the mistake of making the tiny closet in my kitchen for bags and broom/mop. No i dont use a broom or mop just our rechargeable kind. The bags i keep in the vehicle now. I have two pantries i want to get rid of and i think i would feel happy with my kitchen and dining room. I want to get rid of the stand thats collects dust in my livign room( the enternet thing is on it). My daughters dressers but their closet is to small. When we search for a house i think closets are better so we dont need dressers or storage furniture.
Yes! I really loved it for several years but after many holes and the stuffing falling out in places it just didn’t have the warmth I needed 💕 I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
Hey Becky, Hope you are doing well and your family. I do holiday cards and birthday cards but only to special people and instead of gifts I just send money. I live in Dallas Texas but my daughter and granddaughter live in England so instead of presents we send money in cards and they get what they need or want. I also send my 2 sisters cards and if you want to save money on cards they have them at Dollar tree for 50 cents. I don't spend alot and don't expect anyone to keep them long term. Also I wanted to ask about Dvds and dvd players. playstations and etc. We recently gave ours away because we were not using them . I have cleaned out everything we were not using and only keep necessities. Clothes my husband and I only want to keep about a weeks worth of items . I was wondering about your ideas on this.
I’ve found some great inserts thrifted or when people sell pillows on marketplace.💕👏 but you can definitely find them on places like amazon or target just read the reviews carefully haha 😆 thanks so much for sharing! Share any other ideas on where to find these!
If you have an IKEA near you, they have great inserts (and covers if you like what they have) for reasonably priced. I have the down blend ones and have had them for years… they wash well also.
I never donate .only time I declutter is clothes when my son clothes get too small . Other than that I keep my own room simple . Large bed / rug and rails in my walk in wadrobe area and that’s it 😂 when I moved out hoemelss I did have get rid a lot things are some pictures and cards etc form all my family who have passed away .im young at 38 but honestly couldn’t care for buying stuff and delivering as how get rid of it when no car ? If my kettle breaks I take back to the store and they recycle it . Keeps life simple !

I did the same with Facebook and I was surprised that I didn’t even miss it. I just also deleted Instagram.
Me too ❤
Imagine, I have never been there. I want privacy.
I did the same it took 5 years unfortunately to learn. I like yt or printrest.
Flour sack dish towels used to be made from actual flour sacks when flour came in cotton sacks. They're the best kitchen towels and dry quickly.
Wow did not know that! Haha that makes so much sense! But totally agree! So fast drying 💕 thanks so much for sharing 👏

I'm downsizing dishes, some foods and clothing as I'm watching this video. Giving it to others who can use it.

Same! I went through a few years ago and decluttered all the cards I had hung on to for so long
I love cards. The dollar store has many nice choices. It's nice to put gift cards or a bit of cash in to send to my kids. ❤
Great tips
I do love sending cards, especially to relatives out of country. I love receiving them too.

Great advice! Hope you and your family and a lovely Christmas and a happy, healthy new year.
I broke my ankle using a towel instead of a bath mat with grip. Had to have surgery and everything. Never again.
Sorry that happened to you 💕
