Just for reference (and it may have made a difference) - the DAMAGE is what's rounded down from Heartless Hidetsugu, not the remaining life total...if you're at 41 life, you'd take 20 damage, going to 21.
Yup. The best way to remember it, is that its designed to never be able to kill anybody with the effect unless you have outside effects like a Dictate

also he was attacked by a 5/5 did not block, activated that but never took the 5 damage prior or after the ''half lost''so 37 should went to either 16 (take 5 then cut in half) or 14 (cut in half then take 5)

Yeah I just watched him ask "is it rounded down?" and get told yes, then go from 15 to 7... which is incorrect. Feeling bad for these guys for taking extra damage 😢
On gatherer for Rings of Brighthearth it says "You can't pay 2 more than once for each time the triggered ability of Rings of Brighthearth resolves." So I think it was a mistake, great video nevertheless.
oh no you're right! im realizing the shorikai would have to be able to reactivate in order for the rings to copy it again so im bad at magic the gathering. ty for that!
it also takes two mana to start the infinte colorless mana loop, you dont just get it when you resolve those two artifacts. which would leave them with a single blue and a treasure? i couldnt tell how many treasures were left at that point.
I was thinking that! The card says "when you play an activated ability", so rings is a triggered ability and cannot be used as an infinite mana sink. I think the table was also kind of skeptical but wanted the game to be over at that point.

I do believe he couldn't have cast the cyclonic rift, with void winnower out. The CMC of the card is even, the eldrazi sees the CMC not the alternate casting cost. It wouldn't have been able to be played/cast at all.
on the first turn D tapped Hidetsugu, he got hit by Trelasarra but y'all forgot to count it lol

For future reference......when a spell is copied it is copied EXACTLY, meaning you get an exact copy of the spell that was cast, which includes bonus effects such as kicker, overload, "X" costs etc. and all targets for that copied spell. The only way to change the targets of the copy is for the text of the copying effect to state "you may choose new targets..."
24:43 you could use pir's first ability to shuffle SDT to it's owner's library. it says "target player search for its partner" he's forced to look and shuffle his library
Trelasarra is super underrated, so glad to see her kicking some butt! Great episode as always 💯 Joe if you need a 3rd flyer in there, go with Wall of Reverence, it’s a great blocker and I’ve gained so much life from it

The copied Cyclonic rift plus the regular rift should've made everyone return everything to their hands because all of Josh's opponents return everything and then the copy returns all of permanents except for Crim's to their owners hands so it should've been a completely neutral board
The copy was never made, because the cost on Wandering Archaic was paid.
The Nitpicking Nerds, in their casual games, have a house rule that each player scries for how many people go before them (I.e., first player doesn’t scry, second player scries 1, third scries 2 and fourth scries 3).

I personally wouldn’t advance the turns until the tutor is complete. It gives them insight to see what they should get based on the 3 turns it took to tutor.

1:11:15 D could've also equipped Blade of Selves to the dockside to get a metric assload of treasures. Doesn't matter since Xell cyc rifted but it was an option too.

sloppy game in many spots. However, this was still an awesome pod + game. lots of fun. what an edh game should flow like. all 4 decks hit scary highs. ...........Crim pretending in 2nd game he was weak but his board before the Cyclonic rift was about to pop off in a serious way.
So sloppy... felt like it was first time some of them had seen the cards before.

Also, since Crim copied the Cyclonic Rift, Xell should have bounced his nonland permanents as well, followed by Crim bouncing his for Xell's Rift.
once it was determined the overload would copy, he just paid the two... he had a million treasure anyway

@@ArtEPersonal you’re right cause it’s a 2/2 with a counter due to essence warden. Mistakes were made, there’s a lot to keep track of and this was the second time I’d played my Rakdos deck which I think shows

As Tovolar player I just wanted to let know that he first made it night he was mistake because Xell had cast Mana Crypt. Although it wouldn't really make a difference since Dee didn't cast anything his next turn just wanted to let you know.
Cyclonic would double because it “replaces” card text. Everyone returns to their hand

Came looking for a Rakdos game, was not disappointed. Well, a little disappointed because of D seemingly not knowing how his cards work, but that's minor compared to what's next.
But holy crap, game 2, Rings of Brighthearth does NOT work like that. Rings will see an activated ability go on the stack, and trigger ONCE saying "hey, wanna pay 2 to copy that?" - it does not let you copy an activated ability an arbitrary amount of times as long as you can pay 2. Rings + Basalt is fine (you copy the untap ability, then tap the Monolith in between untaps; this nets 1 colorless mana each iteration). Rings + Shorikai = draw 2 discard 1 make a pilot, and then do it again.
Other than Crim missing at least two Twinning Staff + Archmage triggers (on the Dark Ritual + Archaic, and Heliod's Intervention + Archaic) and the hubbub over the copied Rift (honestly that whole interaction seemed a little sus), not a bad watch. Tighten up that technical play, and I may be back for more!
