I am certain this Coronation Chicken dish will be a favorite! How can it not? I do enjoy a bit of curry and chutney and the dried apricot and flaked almonds will give it good texture. I will make this for the weekend and have it on a bed of lettuce. On a nice baked potato looks good too. Thank you Geoff.
Coronation chicken is an absolute favourite ! Always enjoy this in a sandwich when visiting in UK . Have to try at home over jacket potato . Yum . Had at Betty’s Tea Room in York .. excellent !
Thank you for this very timely recipe, Geoff. Coronation Chicken is so versatile, and simply perfect for a light summer lunch or perhaps early supper. Absolutely delicious!! Hope all is well with you and the family.
For the longest time i had this misconception that the "CC" or the Salad version of it, was primarily and purely Apricot conserve & Mayo based, with no input of dairy in it whatsoever! However, it was only recently, on another British RUclipsr's channel, on a picnic themed episode, I discovered that the dressing was originally made, using mango chutney, raisins and dried apricots...plus the yogurt and Mayo ofc. I guess, people anywhere and everywhere put their own spin on these recipes and pass them on... 🙂 Thank you for sharing this recipe. Didn't know that Worcestershire sauce was also a part of the recipe! Please share more casual cooking vids if possible, along with the regular baking videos as is usual. Maybe what you eat in a day/ Breakfast specials/ Weekend Brunch specials/ Celebratory meals for special occasions, etc.
HI Shoma Bhattacharya. Yes there are so many different variations of Coronation Chicken. Particularly for the inclusion of fruits etc. This version was very tasty. I have made it several times since. I will be doing more savoury dishes, as time permits. I am currently thinking about a simple chickpea salad, maybe for next week.
Looks delish Geoff! Do you use the hot mango chutney or the sweet kind? I love the idea of serving the coronation chicken over a baked potato. Early nugget potatoes are in season right now (here in British Columbia), and I think they would pair wonderfully 😊
Hi Maureen. Thanks very much. I used Geeta's Premium Mango Chutney, which is labelled as 'medium'. It is sweet and spicy, but not too spicy. I have since made this again and used some simply boiled Jersey Royal New Potatoes. They are simply the best ever, grown on Jersey they are usually fertilised with local seeweed and have a unique flavour. They were so good with the Coronation Chicken.
@@geoffsbakingblog great minds think alike Geoff! 😀 Glad you tried it with the new potatoes as well, and thanks for the info on the chutney. A bit of sweet and spicy heat in the recipe would add a special something.
I made a coronation chicken for the queen's diamond jubilee street party. I put it on the table outside had to go back in house for something. Was really looking forward to eating some only to find when I got outside it was all GONE 😭
HI Caz. I haven't tried that. But looking around I saw a whole chicken in 4 cups of stock that was cooked on high in a slow cooker for about 4 hours. So I think that might work. The sauce can still be made in the same way I did it, since it is mainly just mixing.
Here comes the moaning OLD BAG .!!!!! 😡. '' 'IT'S TOOOOOO HOT' '"🥵GREAT GOT THAT OUT THE WAY..😂. HEY GEOFF SWEETY💕 HOW ARE YOU💋... I DON'T BELIEVE I HAVE MADE THIS RECIPE BEFORE... SO I'VE GOT A CHICKEN COOKED SO I MAY ALTER SLIGHTLY SHORT CUT GOOD IN THIS HEAT... 🥵TOO HOT ♨️FOR ME TOO HOT FOR DOLLY🔥 BUT NEIL AND OLIVER CAT LOVE IT 🐾❤️
Hi Henrietta, too hot to trot, at least a lot unless like me you are clot. If you have your cooked chicken this is the ideal recipe to make on a hot day, as there is no further cooking involved, unless you want a baked potato. Of course you can make the sauce and divide it to mix in some feta or such like for vegetarians. Too hot here too, though I am currently testing a pork ragu.
@@geoffsbakingblog your MAD cooking at ALL,,,,, my chicken was cooked early this.morning that's it for me and DOLLY... NEIL CAN HAVE HIS VEGGIE HAM @CHEESE UCK... This certainly is a crowning achievement. Thanks for the video. The salad looks good too. 😄
I did feel so regal as i enjoyed my dinner.

HI Juli-Joy. It did taste so good. Family members who shared it declared that it was 'spot on' so that was a good indication that I got it right.
Definitely going to try this. I've never had Coronation Chicken before. Hi from Ireland.
Hi Debc in Ireland. I do hope you enjoy it when you make some.
Looks delicious, love a bit of Coronation chicken!
Hi Yvonne. Thanks very much. This has now become one of my firm favourites.
Dear Geoff, thank you for a new recipe and for sharing a history behind it! 🙂
Hi Katie. You are very welcome.

Hi 1904say. Oh yes, readily available in sandwich form. I have never been to Bettys but they are very well known.
Looks great! Perfect for a light summer lunch :)
Hi Azui Bleu. Thanks very much. Yes it is great for lunch on a warm day.
What a great guy!

HI Diane. That's sad. DId you discover who, or what, had devoured it?
It was no small amount I made it with 6 large chicken breasts. Guess most people had a 'dig in' what got me was how quickly it went. 🤣
