I was a believer in CBT for a while- because I was desperate. But then it fell apart like a house of cards. Then I read more into the psychodynamic approaches and was quite surprised as to how much sense it made, and the potential for a much deeper fix. Then I came across a tragic study in which orphan infants were either given or withheld affection and touch for a period of time- and those infants who didn’t receive the affection and touch were actually starting to die. This finally rid me of any belief in cognitive therapy.
RSA should really add some introduction in their video's description of who the speakers are. I find it hard to take anything someone says seriously if I can't at least know if they have any formal training in the field they are talking about, indicating they might not just be making these things up. Then I'd listen and determine if it warrants further exploration.
