Rev. Nottingham is a fantastic thinker, very knowledgable and wise, and his delivery is beautifully dramatic - but if you have trouble following it or hanging in to the end, as is very much the case with brains of the ADHD structural type, you might set the speed to 1.25 or 1.5. I find I can follow his sentences if these sermons are set at that greater speed. The words register and encode at that speed (otherwise I can't follow the thought to the end of the sentence; it's maddening, and the problem is purely neurological). In teacher training, we were taught to talk faster rather than slower, which was counterintuitive. Professors explained that the brain thinks 16 times as fast (!!) as words are usually spoken, so most people have trouble paying attention at even the pace of ordinary conversations. People with ADHD brain types have brains zooming much faster, so we need material delivered even faster than ordinary speech in order to follow it and encode the ideas. (You can imagine how almost impossible it is to try to parse these dramatically slowed deliveries. By the time he reaches the end of his sentence, especially if it has a dramatic pause, we have lost the thread of the beginning of the sentence.) So if you're having trouble following or absorbing his ideas, try speeding them up - his material is actually quite deep and wonderful, you just need it to register at a speed you can take it in.
