Alleviate is one the best songs that I listened, it is describe perfectly my life now. There is no prog metal or rock, but it is beautiful and special for me. Neither all fans hate Alleviate. :)
Kudos to Einar for not caring about genre labelling. Prog snobs be damned with their constant bullying of pop artists, ABBA used to be mercilessly bullied by prog snobs, but now plenty of the prog legends came out as closeted ABBA fans - the irony 😁 I am happy, that I Lose Hope made it to the album, it's perfect. By My Throne is amazing, Observe The Train - absolutely divine, At The Bottom, Below, Alleviate - true gems. The Sky is Red is epic, and Foreigner grows on you. Distant Bells has a wonderful built-up. All in all - the album is a masterpiece, 10/10. Previous albums are also gems. Leprous has outgrown genre labelling, and this is the sign of truly great band.
I have bipolar disorder, and this album is like therapy for me. The music and lyrics reach some deep, vulnerable parts of my soul. I find solace in the dark parts (looking at you Red), and hope in the uplifting parts. In my top 2 of 2019 for sure. (just for shits and giggles, the other one is the Battle of Yadalbaoth by Infant Annihilator!)
I like entire album from the start to an end, superior piece of music craft, and this is so true what he told about The Sky is Red. It just somehow glues everything together and creates flow, puts point at the end to which everything goes. Mind blowing 🤯
I'm so happy I Lose Hope made it into the album. It slowly became my favorite track. It's so different, but that's the point of this chapter of the band. Malina was good, but Leprous needed a sonic adventure like Pitfalls, they needed to refresh the formula bcs it started to feel kinda weak and predictable.
Mirror Reaper I can definitely agree with the Malina statement. It’s an amazing album but if they would’ve repeated the sound, it might’ve been stale. I really love the funky/disco-y vibe of I Lose Hope! Definitely one of my favorite songs. I love the interviews because it goes how involved everyone was in creating the album.

And I'm very picky :D It is so rare listening to a whole album and get more satisfied with every track you listening to and again when you're listening the whole album again and again. Every track is a jewel. Just a huge source of happiness. Thank you so much for this great music guys!
The sky is red is amazing. I also really enjoy I Lose Hope, By my Throne, and At The Bottom. Absolutely stellar album. Good variety. Foreigner is the weakest song, but still decent. It's just not why I listen to Leprous.

I like this Einar and the Lepers record. Sure, I'd prefer if every song they put out were filled with as much cool stuff happening as, say, Forced Entry, but for present day Leprous I'd much rather have songs like Alleviate and Below, which are very Hollywood and pop like Einar says but certainly stands out in that field, than the material on Malina or Congregation.
Personally I think that 'I Lose Hope' is way more controversial than 'Alleviate'. I like the song, but the swing feeling and weird drums doesn't fit either the album thematic or the lyrics itself. On the other side, I think that 'Foreigner' has no place on this record. It has a very straight tempo and brings nothing new to the table, feels very shoehorned. I feel they could have left it out and it would bring the whole album quality up. I enjoy it now, but it still feels a bit wrong.
Why? Simen wrote the music to Distant Bells, TorO wrote the lyrics to I Lose Hope, By My Throne and At The Bottom...so that’s kind of like the same effort of other members as on previous albums... Einar has always been the main music writer, TorO normally writes most of the lyrics, but in this case Einar’s personal problems were a good inspiration for the whole band.
The Sky Is Red, what an incredible song, be experimental and progressive. It suits you guys.

I agree about foreigner. I see it as that song was out of place and would have felt better being in a different spot on the album.
