    This is a good guide. I'd love to see the same sort of tutorial for crazy paving. From my DIY experience, the irregularity makes it way harder to get a neat repointing.

    This video really helped me this year repoint our patio. I used a wet dry vac to clear between the slabs and blow all the sand after which worked fabulously as we have very big gaps between them

      I didn't think of using the "blow" side of the vacuum for blowing off.
      A great tip ☺👍

    You can knock up semi dry 2 sharp 2 building white cement sweep in joints, use a slasher trowel to push in, and then sponge off with a wettish sponge.Its a lovely flush finish, bringing the stones to the surface of the mortar joint.

    Geez that was easy! I’m sitting on 15kg of regular external tile grout that I mix with water. I can’t put it through a mortar gun, it jams up after a while. is there any chance I can convert it into this type of product where I could brush it on?Would save my life

    We have all made the mistake of using brush in resin grouts thinking they were going to be a great product. To think now 5 years on, no professional landscapers would use brush in resin grouts for many reasons.

    Can we mix jointing sand with dry cement to fill the gaps then wet it after?
    Second question: I've seen builders mix cement and jointing sand and spread it all over the flat bed of sharp sand, put the slabs down, then wet the slabs for a few minutes. What do you reckon? Is it a good idea?

    Great advice, have watched all your vids, I’m trying a patio at home. What would you recommend for a mix for light grey sandstone slabs? Keep them coming

    • @GKWilsonGardens
      @GKWilsonGardens  4 года назад +2

      Matt Walker Hi Pal i would personally lay on a 5-1 bedding mix. With the grey pavers it’s important to bond the all of the backs and never acid clean them as it brings iron deposits out and you are in loads of trouble then. If you are using a brush in compound it will require a 6-1 bedding mix for permeation reasons

    • @TheIcebon
      @TheIcebon 4 года назад +1

      Gareth Wilson hi Gareth thanks for the reply and advice! When you say bond the backs of the slabs, what do you like to use for that? Is that just to help the slabs stick better to the bed of mix

    • @GKWilsonGardens
      @GKWilsonGardens  4 года назад +2

      Hi Matt
      Bonding the back with an SBR/cement and water mix not only sticks the tiles to the mortar bed but also prevents efflorescence, moisture misting coming through the slabs and lime travelling through the paver too. SBR is water proofed too. You will need to keep the bond mix wet because it goes off quickly
